  • In order to determine the three-dimensional position in photogrammetry, a spatial resection is a pre-requisite step to determine exterior orientation parameters. The existing spatial resection method is a non-linear equation that requires initial values of exterior orientation parameters and has a problem that a gimbal lock phenomenon may occur. On the other hand, the spatial resection using quaternion is a closed form solution that does not require initial values of EOP (Exterior Orientation Parameters) and is a method that can eliminate the problem of gimbal lock. In this study, to analyze the stability of the quaternion-based spatial resection, the exterior orientation parameters were determined according to the different layout of control points and were compared with the determined values using existing non-linear equation. As a result, it can be seen that the quaternionbased spatial resection is affected by the layout of the control points. Therefore, if the initial value of exterior orientation parameters could not be obtained, it would be more effective to estimate the initial exterior orientation values using the quaternion-based spatial resection and apply it to the collinearity equation-based spatial resection method.

  • The SPR (Single Photo Resection) is widely used as a method of estimating the EOPs (Exterior Orientation parameters) at the time of taking a photograph, but it requires an initial value and has a disadvantage of being sensitive to the initial value. In this study, we introduce quaternion-based single photo resection and PnP (Perspective-n-Point) algorithm that do not require initial values and compare the results. Photos were taken using a general smartphone, and the ground control point acquisition was based on the hybrid MMS (Mobile Mapping System) point cloud data possessed by the researchers. As a result, when the collinear condition based SPR is true value, quaternion-based SPR has higher attitude angle estimation accuracy than PnP algorithm. In case of camera position estimation, both algorithms showed accuracy within 0.8m when compared with ground control points.

  • An algorithm of 3-D particle image velocimetry(3D-PIV) was developed for the measurement of 3-D velocity field of complex flows. The measurement system consists of two or three CCD camera and one RGB image grabber. In this study, stereo photogrammetty was applied for the 3-D matching of tracer particles. Epipolar line was used to decect the stereo pair. 3-D CFD data was used to estimate algorithm. 3-D position data of the first frame and the second frame was used to find velocity vector. Continuity equation was applied to extract error vector. The algorithm result involved error vecotor of about 0.13 %. In Pentium III 450MHz processor, the calculation time of cross-correlation for 1500 particles needed about 1 minute.

  • When the orientations of joints are measured on a rock exposure, there are frequent cases that are difficult to approach by the surveyor to the target joints or to set up scanlines on the slope. In this study, to complement such limit and weak points, a new algorithm was developed to interpret joint orientation from analyzing the images of rock slope. As a method of arranging the multiple images of a rock slope, the multistage convergent photographing system was introduced to overcome the limitation of photographing direction which existing method such as parallel stereophotogrammetric system has and to cover the range of image measurement, which is the overlapping area between the image pair, to a maximum extent. To determine camera parameters in the perspective projection equation that are the main elements of the analysis method, a new method was developed introducing three ground control points and single ground guide point. This method could be considered to be very simple compared with other existing methods using a number of ground control points and complicated analysis process. So the global coordinates of a specific point on a rock slope could be analyzed with this new method. The orientation of a joint could be calculated using the normal vector of the joint surface which can be derived from the global coordinates of several points on the joint surface analyzed from the images.

  • The stereo camera system has a fixed baseline and therefore has a constant scale. However, it is difficult to measure the actual three-dimensional coordinate since the scale is not fixed when relative orientation parameters are determined through the key-point matching in the stereo image each time. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to perform the stereo camera calibration that simultaneously determines the internal characteristics of the left and right cameras and the camera relationship between them using the modified collinearity equation and compared it with the two independent single cameras calibration. In the experiment using the images taken at close range, the RMSE (Root Mean Square Error) of ${\pm}0.014m$ was occurred when the three dimensional distances were compared in the single calibration results. On the other hand, the accuracy of the three-dimensional distance of the stereo camera calibration was better because the stereo camera results were almost no error compared to the results from two single cameras. In the comparison of the epipolar images, the RMSE of the stereo camera was 0.3 pixel more than that of the two single cameras, but the effect was not significant.

  • An algorithm of 3-D particle image velocimetry(3D-PIV) was developed for the measurement of 3-D velocity Held of complex flows. The measurement system consists of two or three CCD camera and one RGB image grabber. Flows size is $1500{\times}100{\times}180(mm)$, particle is Nylon12(1mm) and illuminator is Hollogen type lamp(100w). The stereo photogrammetry is adopted for the three dimensional geometrical mesurement of tracer particle. For the stereo-pair matching, the camera parameters should be decide in advance by a camera calibration. Camera parameter calculation equation is collinearity equation. In order to calculate the particle 3-D position based on the stereo photograrnrnetry, the eleven parameters of each camera should be obtained by the calibration of the camera. Epipolar line is used for stereo pair matching. The 3-D position of particle is calculated from the three camera parameters, centers of projection of the three cameras, and photographic coordinates of a particle, which is based on the collinear condition. To find velocity vector used 3-D position data of the first frame and the second frame. To extract error vector applied continuity equation. This study developed of various 3D-PIV animation technique.

  • SAR imagery can overcome the limitations of electro-optical sensor imagery and provide us Information which plays a supplementary role. But it is necessary to remove a variety of geometric errors in SAR imagery. An accurate geometric correction of SAR imagery is not easy task to achieve, though some techniques and theories are introduced. We also have difficulties such as transformation problem between 'International' ellipsoid in Radarsat system and 'Bessel' ellipsoid. Two widely used correction method, one is made by simulated image, and the other by collinearity equation, usually use DEM. In this study, the merits and demerits of geocoding methods respectively and the effective method for Korean terrain were found.

  • Most spatial data acquisition systems employing a set of frame cameras may have suffered from their small fields of view and poor base-distance ratio. These limitations can be significantly reduced by employing an omni-directional camera that is capable of acquiring images in every direction. Bundle Block Adjustment (BBA) is one of the existing georeferencing methods to determine the exterior orientation parameters of two or more images. In this study, by extending the concept of the traditional BBA method, we attempt to develop a mathematical model of BBA for omni-directional images. The proposed mathematical model includes three main parts; observation equations based on the collinearity equations newly derived for omni-directional images, stochastic constraints imposed from GPS/INS data and GCPs. We also report the experimental results from the application of our proposed BBA to the real data obtained mainly in urban areas. With the different combinations of the constraints, we applied four different types of mathematical models. With the type where only GCPs are used as the constraints, the proposed BBA can provide the most accurate results, ${\pm}5cm$ of RMSE in the estimated ground point coordinates. In future, we plan to perform more sophisticated lens calibration for the omni-directional camera to improve the georeferencing accuracy of omni-directional images. These georeferenced omni-directional images can be effectively utilized for city modelling, particularly autonomous texture mapping for realistic street view.
