Most of Korean Medical researcher is using MEDLINE which is made by National Library of Medicine in U.S. However we have not such total database of medical information. And so, we have designed medical literature article system, serial union cataloging system and interlibrary loan system as library total system. All Korean Medical Association member input bibliographic data and holding data. Medical researcher can access medical literature article system at www and then access holding data and they can use interlibrary loan system in online. The object of this total system is that medical researcher as well as medical librarian can easily retrive medical literature and gain original article.

Public policies in regard to developing reading culture programs and the contents, and in running public libraries have been used to overcome existing social issues such as regional self-centeredness and cultural lagging. It means that public libraries are playing an important role to encourage communications within local communities. The purpose of this research is therefore to analyze the concept of local community, and develop reading culture and contents to reinforce the concept. This research also targeted to analyze the required contents in reading culture. Through the case study of "G" city, the research analyzed their citizenship and sense of local community and the requests. As a result, the requited subjects were for economics, unemployment, poverty, aging, and housing order. For the subjects of environment were environment pollution and energy order. For the subjects of human rights, disabilities, and multi-cultural were requested. For the subject of education, school violence, tutoring, and truly teaching were requested. Based on the requirements, 221 items of reading lists, DVD clips, and abstracts are developed as well as 4 programs of reading culture.

In the recent cataloging environment, the function of authority data is becoming more important. In Korea, a pilot project for sharing and joint use of the national authority data has been promoted since 2019, and a plan to automatically construct retrospective authority data using national authorities is in progress. This study aims to (1) analyze the results of the pilot project for retrospective authority data jointly promoted by the National Library of Korea and KERIS in 2019, (2) explore methodological limitations and problems in the process, and (3) derive policy proposals for constructing authority data more efficiently. To this end, a university library participating in the pilot project was investigated as a case study. Based on it, the automatic generation rate and accuracy of authority data, and errors and omissions cases and causes were analyzed in detail. As a results of the study, it was found that the quality of union catalogs and bibliographic records had a great influence on automatically constructing authority data, and supplementary methods were needed to minimize these limitations.

The purpose of this paper was to develop the key performance indicators of regional co-training programs, using analytic hierarchy process method. Firstly, we pooled indicators by reviewing the literatures. The researcher checked the properness and representative of them and then, the training professionals reviewed them again. Finally, we finalized the indicators, depending on the indicator domains such as MOU (Memorandum of Agreement) company (the training participation rate of MOU companies, training participation of employees, and etc.), training performance (the completion of the program, employment rate, and etc.), cost-effectiveness (training cost per capita), satisfaction (satisfaction rate of MOU companies and training participants), and regional co-training enhancement (the operation of the committee, the will for training of the regional municipal government, and etc.). The weight size varied by the regional training needs, satisfaction of MOU companies, and regional committees of human resource development. We also suggested the continuous revision of the key performance indicators for regional co-training.

This study explores the importance of OSI standards in library environment and specifically of Z39.50/SR information retrival protocols and ILL protocol. Libraries and other information systems need to implement these ap lication protocols in order to facilitate the sharing of library information resources through information networks. The foreign systems which have implemented the standard protocols are reviewed in this paper, and it is suggested that search results of OPACs and other bibliographic databases be directly used for electronic document request for fast document delivery, first by implementing Z39.50 OPACs and standard interlibrary loan systems and next by integrating the two systems in Korean electronic libraries.

In accordance with the recent expansion of collection operation of independent publications through public libraries, this study conducted a status analysis on independent publications collection in public libraries and in-depth interviews with staff in charge of independent publications in order to suggest ways to effectively manage independent publications. As a result, it was deduced that the measures needed for effective management of independent publications are construction of joint cataloging system for building and sharing independent publications catalog in public libraries; platform for collecting various information of independent publications; support for ISBN, ISSN, CIP issuance of independent publications; and improvement of distribution system.

This study examines how CIP program of the Library of Congress distributes, provides an access to, and helps upgrade CIP data through bibliographic utilities. LC CIP program can be characterized by the participation of many U.S. mainstream publishers, a continuing increase in the number of CIP data assigned annually, and an effort to immediately upgrade the completeness and accuracy of CIP data in cooperation with bibliographic utilities. Cooperation between LC and bibliographic utilities in performing quality control is worth noting, when compared with the limitation of CIP program of the National Library of Korea. It is suggested that the National Library of Korea should provide complete and accurate bibliographic and authority records for other types of new and old library materials published in Korea as well as CIP data for new monographic materials.

This study used content analysis to examine the research methods in Library and Information Science journals from 1997 to 2001. The purpose of this study is to analyze the development strategy of academic libraries in the U.S., U.K., Australia, and Canada which have been established in response to the problems faced since the 1990s. Major problems, which academic libraries in various countries have commonly experienced include continuing decrease in library expenditures, changing role of libraries themselves, changing nature of library collections, development of information technology and technological intrastructure on campus, steep increase in prices of scholarly journals, and relative decrease in purchasing powers of libraries. In this study, discussed are the strategic planning and solutions carried out at the national or government level, rather than by individual libraries. Their efforts commonly focus on such measures as resource sharing, shared catalog and storage facilities, cooperative purchasing and negotiation for scholarly journals, etc.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate current library cooperation system and to identify what fields should be cooperated with other libraries. A survey and group interviews are used for research method. The results show that only under 30% of respondents estimated the success of library cooperation system. The system needs to be changed. Online catalog and DB are evaluated as important fields, while the shared/cooperation acquisition is evaluated as less important field in current cooperation system. Also, education cooperation, the cooperation of education and culture programs, and advertisement cooperation are more necessary. The shared/cooperation acquisition is less necessary in library cooperation filed. The membership libraries of cooperation systems and library location are affected to responses as a factor. This study proposes two library cooperation systems: upload library cooperation system and download library cooperation system.
