In this study, the physical and chemical properties of mortar are evaluated by micro-analysis, taking into account the substitution rate(20%, 30%, and 40%) of zeolite with porous properties and active hwangtoh. First, the physical and chemical properties of zeolite and active hwangtoh are reviewed to confirm that the specific surface area of those is similar with ordinary portland cement, and the main chemical composition is SiO2, Al2O3, Fe2O3, etc.. So, it is thought that they have the properties of pozolan reactive materials. As the results of the strength test considering the amount of substitution based on that of cement, It is confirmed that strength decreases with the increase of the replacement amount of zeolite and active hwangtoh, and the strength of mortar with replacement rate of 20% is higher than OPC mortar. It is confirmed that the amount of porosity is increased due to chemical properties of zeolite and active hwangtoh, and in particular, the size of the pore is greater than 1㎛ in mortar mixed with active hwangtoh.

In this study, the properties of no-fines polymer concrete with different polymer binder contents were evaluated. The polymer concrete was formulated using a polymeric binder (unsaturated polyester resin), fly ash, and recycled coarse aggregate (60%) and crushed coarse aggregate (40%). The polymeric binder content (4.0-6.0wt.%) was used as an experimental variable because it dramatically affects both the cost-effectiveness and material properties. The results showed that the density, compressive strength, flexural strength both before and after exposure to freezing and thawing increased as the polymer binder content increased, while the absorption, void ratio, permeable voids, coefficient of permeability, and acid resistance (mass loss by acid attack) decreased as the polymeric binder content increased. In particular, even though the void ratio was 18.4% and the water permeability coefficient was 7.3mm/sec, the compressive strength and flexural strength were as high as 38.0MPa and 10.0MPa, respectively, much more significant than those of previous studies. Other properties such as absorption and acid resistance were also found to be excellent. The results appear to be rooted in the increased adhesion of the binder by adding a cross-linking agent and the surface hydrophobicity of the polymer.
This study was carried out to investigate the effect of no-tillage on sequential cropping supported from recycling of first crop ridge on the productivity of crop and physical properties of soil under green house condition. This study is a part of "No-tillage agriculture of Korea-type on recycled ridge". From results for distribution of soil particle size with time process after tillage, soil particles were composed with granular structure in both tillage and no-tillage. No-tillage soil in distribution of above 2 mm soil particle increased at top soil and subsoil compared with tillage soil. Tillage and one year of no-tillage soil were not a significant difference at above 0.25 mm~below 0.5 mm, above 0.5 mm~below 1.0 mm, and above 1.0 mm of water-stable aggregate. Two years of no-tillage soil was significantly increased by 8.2%, 4.5%, and 1.7% at above 0.25 mm~below 0.5 mm, above 0.5 mm~below 1.0 mm, and above 1.0 mm of water-stable aggregate, respectively, compared with one year of no-tillage. Bulk density of top soil was $1.10MG\;m^3$ at tillage and $1.30MG\;m^3$ at one year of no-tillage. Bulk density of top soil was $1.14MG\;m^3$ at two years and $1.03MG\;m^3$ at three years of no-tillage, respectively. Bulk density of subsoil was a similar tendency. Solid phase ratio in top soil and subsoil was increased at one year of no-tillage compared with tillage soil, while soil phase ratio decreased at two and three years of no-tillage. Pore space ratio in tillage top soil (58.5%) was decreased by 8.5% at compared with no-tillage soil (51.0%). Pore space ratio was 56.9% and 61.2% at two and three years of no-tillage soil, respectively. Subsoil was a similar tendency. Gaseous phase ratio was decreased at one year of no-tillage soil, and increased at two and three years of no-tillage soil compared with tillage soil. Liquid phase ratio in top soil was increased at one year of no-tillage (28.3%), and decreased at two years (23.4%) and at three years (18.3 %) of no-tillage soil compared with tillage soil (24.2%). Subsoil was a similar tendency. Liquid phase ratio in subsoil was increased than top soil.

Lightweight aggregate which is composed of sintered polycrystalline materials usually has a certain portion of pores inside of it. Because of such a structural characteristics, it tends to that movement of water in aggregate shows an abnormal behavior against the change of outside environment. In general, water movement behavior is controlled by porosity, distribution of pore size; however, dense surface layer will also affect water movement behavior in case of artificially sintered aggregates. Factors affecting water movement behavior in the aggregate are pore distribution, pore shape, pre-wetting method, etc. In this study, absorption characteristics of aggregate under the pressure and absorption rate according to water dipping time are analyzed for the basis of pressure pumping of lightweight concrete. Two kinds of aggregates were used for the test: one is made by 'L' company in Germany and the other is of our own made at the pilot plant in Kyonggi University. Absorption rate of aggregate is measured according to water dipping time, vacuum pressure, and quenching condition. Absorption rate of aggregate with $300^{\circ}C$ quenching is higher than that of aggregate with 24 hr water dipping. Generally the more vacuum the higher water absorption rate. Water absorption rate of 'L' aggregate under -300 mmHg is 54 % higher than that of aggregate with 24 hr water dipping; however, only 2 % increase in water absorption was measured for the K622 and K73 which were of our own.

Highly porous polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) microspheres impregnated by $TiO_2$ powder were prepared by spray drying method. The particle size and the porosity were controlled by optimizing the co-solvent ratio and the polymer concentration. $TiO_2$ powder was impregnated into the microspheres upto 74.6 wt% content based on the weight of the resultant $PMMA/TiO_2$ microspheres. SEM images showed that $TiO_2$ powder was well distributed throughout the inside of the microsphere. EDX mapping showed that the Ti signal was well detected from every part of the microspheres, which was the evidence of the formation of the $PMMA/TiO_2$ composite. Hg porosimetry result showed that the porosity was found to be over 50% regardless of the $TiO_2$ contents. The final product was found to have high oil-absorbing capacity and great hiding power, both of which are key properties in designing the microsphere materials for make-up cosmetics application.
The aminated polypropylene melt blown ion exchange fibers were synthesized with acrylic acid monomer onto polypropylene melt blown fibers by radiation-induced polymerization and subsequent amination. Degree of grafting was increased with increasing the acrylic acid monomer concentration and total dose. The highest degree of grafting was obtained 140% at a monomer concentration of 20 v/v% acrylic acid and total dose of 4 kGy. Optimum condition of Mohr's salt was 5.0 $\times10^{-3}$ M. Degree of amination was increased with increasing degree of grafting. Water content was about 1.5 times higher than that of trunk polymer. The maximum ion-exchange capacity was 7.3 meq/g which was 2$\sim$3 times higher than a commercial ion exchange fiber. The average pore size was decreased and BET surface area was increased in order of PPmb, PPmb- g- AAc and APPmb- g- AAc. The average pore size and BET surface area of synthesised fibers were $366.1\;{\AA},\;3.71m^2/g,\;143.3\;{\AA},\;4.94m^2/g,\;40.97\;{\AA},\;8.98m^2/g$, respectively.

Plastic wastes generated from household waste are separated by mixed discharge with foreign substances, and recycling is relatively low. In this study, the effect of the ratio and content of mixed plastic waste coarse aggregate(MPWCA)s and mixed plastic waste fine aggregate(MPWFA)s filled with blast furnace slag fine powder on the slump and compressive strength of concrete was evaluated experimentally. The MPWCAs were found to have a similar fineness modulus, but have a single particle size distribution with a smaller particle size compared to coarse aggregates. However, the MPWFAs were found to have a single particle size distribution with a larger fineness modulus and particle size compared to fine aggregates. Meanwhile, the effect of improving the density and filling pores by the blast furnace slag fine power was found to be greater in the MPWFA compared to the MPWCA. As the amount of the mixed plastic waste aggregate(MPWA)s increased, the slump and compressive strength of concrete decreased. In particular, the lower the slump and compressive strength of concrete was found to decrease the greater the amount of MPWFA than MPWCA when the amount of MPWA was the same. This is because of the entrapped air and voids formed under the angular- and ROD-shaped aggregates among the MPWFAs. On the other hand, the addition of the admixture and the increase in the unit amount of cement were found to be effective in improving the compressive strength of the concrete with MPWAs.
In this study, analysis of the flow of water in the soil environment was attempted to examine the changing patterns of permeability coefficient, k, presented in Darcy's law depending on soil particle size and the pattern of mixed soil that main factor affecting ground water flow in soil environment. In addition, permeability coefficient patterns depending on changes in water temperature and concentration were measured. As a result, the permeability for the soil particle size and mixing pattern is proportional to the size of the particles, and it was also influenced by the porosity depending on the mixed pattern and stratification. Especially compared with the single particle, mixing different sizes samples showed a lower k than the value of smaller single particles. In addition, permeability of groundwater increased with increasing temperature, also permeability decreased depending on the concentration of ions in groundwater. The results of this study were expected to use as meaningful data for the phenomenon reflects the characteristics of the soil to understand mobility of groundwater in soil environment.

This study is a research about performance of fireproof board using industrial waste such as oyster shell and dry process bottom ash through the heating test and conclusions were obtained as follows. Test samples show back side temperatures as follows : in $300^{\circ}C$, $103.1{\sim}125.1^{\circ}C$, in $600^{\circ}C$, $201.1{\sim}210.1^{\circ}C$, in $900^{\circ}C$, $249.2{\sim}276.9^{\circ}C$. In the test, temperature increases of specimens of fireproof board are kept at certain temperatures hence it could be concluded that the specimens withstand high temperatures. According to the test, it could be concluded that fireproof board made by smaller particles shows better performance up to $600^{\circ}C$ while at higher temperatures, fireproof board made by bigger particles shows better performance. It is estimated that fireproof board made by particles of bigger size has more pore structure and it delays heat conduction.
The objectives of this research are to (1) observe changes in particle size distribution due to formation of microflocs during coagulation process (2) identify the membrane fouling potential on cross flow system (3) investigate the mechanism of membrane fouling. The rate of flux decline for the hydrophobic membrane was significantly greater than for the hydrophilic membrane, regardless of pretreatment conditions. The pretreatment of the raw water significantly reduced the fouling of the UF membrane. Also, the rate of flux decline for the hydrophobic membrane was considerably greater than for the hydrophilic membrane. Applying coagulation process before membrane filtration showed not only reducing membrane fouling, but also improving the removal of dissolved organic materials that might otherwise not be removed by the membrane. That is, during the mixing period, substantial changes in particle size distribution occurred under rapid and slow mixing condition due to the simultaneous formation of microflocs and NOM precipitates. Therefore, combined pretreatment using coagulation not only improved dissolved organics removal efficiency but also flux recovery efficiency.
