  • This paper presents a novel design technique and characteristic analysis of Magnet for dual air-gap axial-flux type permanent-magnet synchronous generator. The process of magnet design is applied to the motor design and steady state analysis considering output voltage waveforms and magnetic flux waveforms. Design and construction of an axial-flux permanent-magnet generator with power output at 60 [Hz], 300[r/min] is introduced. Finite-element (FE) method is applied to analyze magnet shape characteristics. The results of FE analysis show generator is feasible for use with dual air-gap axial-flux permanent- magnet synchronous generator.

  • In this paper, we measure the back-EMF and the thrust of a linear brushless DC motor along the relative position between coils and magnets in various speed environments in order to obtain the back-EMF and the thrust as a function of a motor position. The measured back-EMF function and thrust function of the position differ from the analytical ones within 5%. The measured back-EMF and thrust function can, then, be employed in controlling the thrust ripple of the linear motor. Furthermore, to minimize the torque ripple of the linear motor, we suggest the design method to shape the back-EMF and thrust function of the linear motor.

  • This paper presents the calculation of unbalanced magnetic pull (UMP) that causes rotor misalignment in induction motor. The excessive noise and vibration will be occurred by means of rotor misalignment. Angular misalignment of rotor will produce air-gap permeance wave which is function of axial and circumferential coordinate. In this paper, the UMP is calculated using permeance and magneto motive force (MMF) in the case of static and dynamic misalignment. Based on the percentage of misalignment, the result shows that the UMP and magnetic pressure are increased according to the increasing of misalignment. The UMP is occurred not only in It frequency component but also the others.

  • 본 논문에서는 공간 고조파 개념을 이용하여 철심형 영구자석 선형 동기 전동기의 스큐 효과를 해석하기 위한 해석적 방법을 설명하고자 한다. 제안된 방법을 통하여 고정자 슬롯과 치 구조에 의한 공극의 실제적인 자속밀도를 해석할 수 있으며 기존의 방법보다 정확한 결과를 얻을 수 있다. 특히, 슬롯과 치 형상 구조를 가진 철심형 영구자석 선형 동기 전동기의 스큐 특성을 나타낸다.

  • 본 논문은 Slotless BLDC 모터를 고출력화 하기 위해서 나선형(Helical)방식을 적용하여 모터의 고출력화를 이루는 방식에 대한 연구이다. 기존의 SlotlessBLDC모터는 코깅이 없고, Slot이 없으므로 소형화에 유리한 장점을 지녔다. 반면에 공극의 자속 밀도가 낮아 출력을 높이는데 한계가 있었다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 기존의 SLBLDCM의 단점을 극복할 수 있는 Helical 방식을 제안하였다. Helical 방식을 적용할 때 기존의 인덕턴스 영향으로 인한 전류 확립에 한계가 있었으나 본 방식을 적용 시 높은 전류를 흘릴 수 있었으며 이로 인해 고출력화를 이룰 수 있었다. 아울러 Helical 방식을 취하므로 높은 전류로 인한 발열문제까지도 동시에 해결할 수 있는 장점이 있었다. 본 논문에서는 Helical 방식을 적용하여 기존대비 출력을 15%이상 향상시킬 수 있었으며, 온도 상승도 10%이상 억제할 수 있었다.

  • This paper represents solenoid design of control valve for incline angle control in variable compressor. Some theoretical and numerical analysis were performed to analyse solenoid and compared with experimental results. Maxwell program was used for numerical analysis. Through redesigns of housing body, plunger, core, and disk in control valve, the needed force was gotten. Reduction of core groove and housing body air-gap had a large influence on magnetic force. But increasing of disk thickness had little effect on magnetic force. Control valve efficiency could be improved through solenoid redesign.

  • In this paper, approximate means of estimating the flux and torque levels in an induction motor is discussed. There exists several method that is used directly by flux meter and flux sensing coils in the airgap. Most of these methods are sensitive to motor parameter value changes. Also, the harmonics in the motor voltage and current due to the nonsinusodial inverter waveform cause errors in the estimated torque. Finally, this result is applicated in arch type linear induction motor for study of noise and vibration.

  • The fringe field of magnetic thin-film head is calculated with the Boundary Element Method (BEM), and the effects of a permeable underlayer to the head field are studied. It is found that the BEM can be efficiently used for this complex problem consisting of three different permeable regions, and the permeable underlayer effectively reduces the length of magnetic flux path and increases the fringe field.

  • In this paper, a new approach detecting broken rotor bars in a squirrel-cage induction motor is proposed. The air-gap flux variation analysis was done using search coils inserted in stator slots when broken rotor bar conditions occur. An accurate modelling and analysis of air-gap flux variation in the induction motor are developed using finite-element(FE) software packages, and measuring the flux we made using search coils. In the FE analysis, the three-phase squirrel-gage induction motor with 380 [V], 5 [HP], 4 Poles, 1,742 [rpm] ratings is used.
