Efficient Multispectral Image Compression Using Variable Block Size Vector Quantization (가변 블럭 벡터 양자화를 이용한 효율적인 다분광 화상 데이터 압축)

  • In this paper, we propose efficient multispectral image compression using variable block size vector quantization (VQ). In wavelet domain, we perform the variable block size VQ to remove intraband redundancy for a reference band image that has the lowest spatial variance and the best correlation with other band. And in wavelet domain, we perform the classified interband prediction to remove interband redundancy for the remaining bands. Then error wavelet coefficients between original image and predicted image are residual variable block size vector quantized to reduce prediction error. Experiments on remotely sensed satellite image show that coding efficiency of the proposed method is better than that of the conventional method.

  • This study aims to analyse the method and strategy of spatial composition in the selective works of Italian architect Carlo Mollino. With the continuos renovation of the interpretative frames and method on modernity and in particular on the spatial phenomenon, works of Mollino, once disregarded by the historiography and evaluated for its peculiarity. emerge as important architectural phenomenons. The intrinsic value in his works also enable to comprehend the complexity and multiplicity of modernity in contemporary architecture. In order to achieve this preposition, six important works were analyzed with three key words, to understand comprehensively the process and the significance of each work and Mollino's contribution in the spatial composition of domestic and public spaces. Evaluation of the spatial strategies in conceptual investigations of Mollino had been underestimated to the relative poor conservation or incomprehension of various work, excluded from the categories of architectural elaborations. This study also aims to contribute, in the broad sense, the dialectical significance of modernity by emphasizing the aspects of his work related with Surrealism and vernacular tradition, as well as with its relationship with the various spatial dispositives.

  • This study attempts to find out the spatial characteristics of the converging technology laboratory. For this, the understanding of the nature of converging technology and its necessary system requirements are crucial. The foremost concern lies in the 'flexibility' of the laboratory space, i.e. 'open-lab system', because of the multi-disciplinary spatial arrangement which is supposed to be open to a number of different research fields in the same building cluster. From the case analysis, this study reveals that in order to maximize the adjustability, the module based space unit plan should be considered at the earliest stage. In addition, it is also found from the analysis that the linkage of the communication spaces such as seminar room, auditorium, lounge, rest room, dining room, and corridors should be dealt with a higher degree of sophistication, since these facilitate the interaction of information at the behavioral level.

  • This paper proposes a new access method which is to considered the high variability in World Wide Web and manage the web cache space. Instead of using a single cache, we divide a cache and store all documents according to their file types. Proposed method was compares with current cache management policies using LFU, LRU and SIZE base algorithm. Using two different workload, we show the improvement hitting ratio and byte hitting ratio through simulating on the file type caching.

  • Transformation of complexity and diverse life style of contemporary men have call for increase in demand of single's and couple's living space of one-room apartment. Feasibility for intensive use of one-room apartment, regardless of it's openness and flexible character, multiple function in a single concentrated room without privacy and lack of confrontation of the changes in diverse living pattern enhance uniformity which reflects as an essential problem. Therefore, this study is to present a direction of one-room apartment interior space planning to differentiate from the existing system of uniformity and it's problems. Within the concept of flexibility, establishment of the flexibility factors for the application of hinged system with a movable furniture to compose a flexible space. In conclusion, the applications of hinged system concept of sliding, folding, over-hangings, are applied in existing one-room apartment plan to enhance flexible space planning which to drive in motivation and adaptation of the dweller's life cycle.

  • This paper introduces an effective and convenient method for utilizing onboard memory space to process remote commands, telemetry, and interplanetary network protocol data in satellite onboard systems. By enhancing the doubly linked list data structure to store and make accessible variable-length communication protocol data either sequentially or at variable locations, the paper enhances memory capacity utilization. The concept of 'grape' is introduced into the doubly linked list data structure to manage variable-length data and its access, with performance verification conducted through its reference implementation. This novel approach to linked lists is termed 'grape.'

  • Information plays an important role in modern society. Most of the information is processed and moved in the digital space. In cyberspace, confidential communication based on resistance and security is fundamental. It is essential to protect the information sent and received over the network. However, information may be leaked and forged by unauthorized users. The effectiveness of the existing protection system decreases as an innovative technique is applied to identify the communication contents by a third party. Steganography is a technique for inserting secret information into a specific area of a medium. Stegganography and steganalysis techniques are at odds with each other. A new and sophisticatedly implemented system is needed to cope with the advanced steganalysis. To enhance step-by-step diffusion and irregularity, I propose a hybrid implementation technique of image steganography for Hangul messages based on layered encryption and variable ShiftRows. PSNR was calculated to measure the proposed steganography efficiency and performance. Compared to the basic LSB technique, it was shown that the diffusion and randomness can be increased even though the PSNR decreased by 1.45%.

Selection on the Order of Priority Factor of Construction Key Technology for Improving the Flexibility for a Long Life Apartment Housing at the Next Generation (차세대 장수명 공동주택의 가변성능향상을 위한 건축요소기술 우선순위결정에 관한 연구)

  • Recently, lots of the research aspects of space, materials, structure, construction method relation to improving the flexibility going on throughout the construction industry, moreover the development of construction key technology has been accelerating by reason of deterioration in the apartment housing. Therefore, this study should firstly suggests assessment list of construction key technology through investigation of questionnaire and consultation of the expert on the basis of case studies, and should select it about the flexibility which making social issues lastly in the apartment housing. Secondly, this study should classify, reestablish core technology through inspection procedure of feasibility study among lists of deduced key technology. Finally, this study will suggest the manual & guideline for improving the flexibility for a long-life apartment housing at the next generation by selecting, analyzing and estimating higher score items of all key technology.

A Study on Expression Characteristics of Flexibility in Nomadic Space (노마드적 공간에서 나타나는 유연성에 관한 연구)

  • Recently, in the fields of fashion, advertisement, film, literature, philosophy, etc., the word, 'Nomad', is being used frequently across the overall society. The contemporary society is actively incorporating "nomadic thinking" as a new social phenomenon across the boundaries of conventional fields. This is not an exception in the field of space design. This study, via the contemporary nomadic thinking, examined the relationship between space design's application possibility as a new trend and flexible space; then categorized the characteristics of flexible space into flexibility, temporariness, changeability, and correlation; and then analyzed expression characteristics of flexible space. As for unrestricted expression of scene, it was recognized that separation of scene and space leads space to meet the needs of surrounding environment and users; formation of changeable space enables uses of space from various perspectives; and combining external factors (energy, media technologies) with space leads space to self-evolution. Space is perceived as an living organism that is flexibly corresponding, via realistic movement and virtual movement, to the indefinite, diversified thinking of the contemporary society. Therefore, this study illuminates that nomadic thinking has significance as basic thinking to predict development and characteristics of design thinking through understanding the contemporary society with the basic thinking system that has been inherent without restrictions of being fixed to the present, past, and future.

  • This paper studies on the optimum design space of solar power plant, application of efficiency improvement facility using various examples, lack of power cost, lack of land development and difficulty of permission. We analyze economic factors and profitability by deriving analysis factors according to the conditions of construction examples and variables by applying efficient facilities that can utilize idle space of individuals and public more efficiently through various cases.
