Illumination-Robust Face Recognition based on Illumination-Separated Eigenfaces (조명분리 고유얼굴에 기반한 조명에 강인한 얼굴 인식)

  • The popular eigenfaces-based face recognition among proposed face recognition methods utilizes the eigenfaces obtained from applying PCA to a training face image set. Thus, it may not achieve a reliable performance under illumination environments different from that of training face images. In this paper, we propose an illumination-separate eigenfaces-based face recognition method, which excludes the effects of illumination as much as possible. The proposed method utilizes the illumination-separate eigenfaces which is obtained by orthogonal decomposition of the eigenface space of face model image set with respect to the constructed face illumination subspace. Through experiments, it is shown that the proposed face recognition method based on the illumination-separate eigenfaces performs more robustly under various illumination environments than the conventional eigenfaces-based face recognition method.

Socio-economic Polarization and Intra-urban Residential Segregation by Class (사회경제적 양극화와 도시 내 계층별 거주지 분리)

  • It is widely believed that increasing socio-economic polarization inspired by globalization and economic restructuring worsens residential segregation by class in Korean cities. However, the existing literature falls short in showing the recent changes of the residential segregation, particularly after the 1997 financial crisis, with reliable and systematic segregation measures. Noting that there are the two major dimension in residential segregation - evenness-concentration and exposure-clustering - this study introduced not only global measure (dissimilarity index and isolation/interaction index) but also local measures (location quotient and Local Moran's I) for each dimension. These measures are applied to the case study of Seoul in the 2000s. The class is defined by education attainment and the data is obtain through the MicroData System Service System(MDSS). The result shows that the residential segregation by education attainment persists through 2000s and even get worse in some dimension. More significantly, it turns out that high-class and low-class residence are nearly mirror-images of each other, indicating high segregation.

  • 지리 정보 시스템이서 다중 공간 조인과 같은 많은 기하 계산을 필요로 하는 질의를 처리하기 위해서는 질의에 대한 병렬화 작업을 통해 실행 시간을 최소화 하는 것이 필수적이다. 다중 공간 조인은 정제에서 많은 시간을 소비하므로 여과와 정제를 분리하여 각각을 수행하는 것이 정제 시간을 단축하게 되고 따라서 좋은 성능을 나타낼 수 있다. 그러므로 다중 공간 조인을 병렬화 하기 위해서는 다중 공간 여과와 정제 각각에 대해 병렬 실행 계획을 세우는 것이 중요하다. 이 논문에서는 우선적으로 병렬 공간 여과를 수행하기 위한 두가지 알고리즘, 즉 blush tree을 사용한 다중 공간 여과와 pipelining을 사용한 다중 공간 여과의 병렬화를 비교한다. 그리고, 다중 공간 여과의 결과로서 생성되는 중간 결과 테이블에서 데이터의 중복에 따라 정제 성능의 저하가 발생되는데, 이를 효율적으로 제거하기 위한 두가지 그래프 생성 알고리즘을 제안하고 이를 비교한다. 그리고, 생성된 그래프에서 병렬 정제를 수행하기 위한 여러 가지 분할 알고리즘을 제안하고 이를 비교 평가한다. 이런 일련의 작업을 통해 우수한 성능의 병렬 다중 공간 조인 방법을 제안하고 성능 평가를 통해 최적의 병렬 수행 방법을 도출한다.

A Web-based Virtual Space Modeling Using 2D CAD Data (2차원 캐드자료를 이용한 웹기반 가상공간 모델링)

  • 인터넷과 컴퓨터 기술이 발달함에 따라 가상공간에 대한 관심은 커져가고 있다. 그러나 가상공간을 생성하는 작업은 많은 시간과 노력이 필요하다. 그래서 가상공간 모델링에 관련된 연구들이 많이 이루어지고 있다. 본 논문에서는 2차원 CAD 데이터로부터 가상공간을 모델링하는 방법을 제시한다. CAD 파일에서 2차원 지형정보를 추출하여 웹에서 볼 수 있는 3차원 가상공간을 생성한다. 가상공간생성 과정은 전처리, 데이터 추출, 모델생성, 렌더링으로 이루어진다. 전처리는 CAD 파일에서 도로경계선을 분리하며 데이터 추출은 등고선, 도로경계선, 건물 정보를 CAD 파일로부터 추출하는 과정이다. 모델 생성은 추출한 지형정보들을 이용해서 3차원 공간모형 데이터를 생성하는 과정이다. 본 논문에서 제시한 방법은 실세계에 근접한 가상공간을 생성하며 가상공간을 생성하는데 드는 시간과 노력을 줄일 수 있다.

ALS의 스캔라인 특성을 이용한 효율적인 포인트 클라우드의 분리

  • 본 연구에서는 ALS의 스캔라인 특성을 이용하여 포인트 클라우드를 효율적으로 분리하는 기법을 제시하였다. 이전 연구에서 제시하였던 방식에서 포인트 분류를 위한 쿼리 영역의 제한 기능을 강화시키고 효율적인 메모리 관리를 위하여 쿼리에 사용되지 않는 포인트를 영구 저장하여 메모리로부터 해제하는 기능을 추가하였다. 결과적으로 대용량의 포인트 데이터를 처리하는 동안 속도 저하 현상이 발생하지 않았으며 높은 정확도로 건물 포인트를 분리할 수 있었다.

Interpretation of Cultural Landscape based on Community Spaces of Korean Traditional Villages (전통마을 공동체 공간의 문화경관 해석)

  • This study is aimed at understanding the wisdom of our ancestors in Korean traditional villages and finding out cues to designate and utilize community space in planning residential area in villages by examining community space in Korean traditional villages from cultural landscape point of view. This study designated 18 Korean traditional villages which have been preserving Korean traditional culture up to now, so deserve conservation from historical, cultural and artistic viewpoint. This study divided community spaces in each village into social area and ritual area depending on their uses and functions based on the results of pilot study and main study. In addition, ritual areas were also divided into Confucian ritual area and ethnic ritual area. Specifically, this study examined characteristics of space location and users by understanding the location of community space factors in the 18 villages. As for the factor analysis of community spaces, community factors established after the modern age were examined from modern viewpoint, and factors which had been destroyed or lost their original functions were examined from retrospective viewpoint. In conclusion, this study found out that cultural landscape in Korean traditional villages were affected by social relationship among villagers. The community spaces of villagers were multiple-function space rather than a space which was exclusively used by a specific class. Though the occupation of these spaces was separated and differentiated depending on sexes and ages, villagers tried to understand and respect each other through tacit communication.

Analysis of the Proteins Accumulated During Cold Treatment in Intermolecular Space of Barley (저온에서 세포밖 공간에 축적되는 보리 단백질)

  • In order to identify an antifreeze proteins responsible for freeze-tolerance in barley the proteins accumulated in extracellular space during cold acclimination were extracted and analyzed. After 42 days cold treatment there were several proteins sized of 70, 21, 16, 14 KDa increased in their amount accumulated in extracellular space. In addition, continuously sized polypeptides smaller than 10 KDa were found to be increased in their amount as cold treatment prolongs. Since these proteins were not detectable in total leaf protein extract it appears that the procedure used to isolate extracellular extract was valid. A similarity in profile of the extracellular proteins isolated from barley and rye may indicate a possibility for these proteins to be an antifreeze proteins since the same extract from rye was reported to show an antifreezing activity.

  • In cinema, a montage can be defined as temporalization. In reverse, it is evident that this method results in the spatialization of time. In movies, you are free to go to the past or future, see separated times together, and separate the same time into different ones. Therefore, in one aspect, time is turned into space, and on the other hand, space is turned into time. In conclusion, space in cinema inevitably expresses time. The movie the creative arrangement of time and space played a big role in making a movie that simply overlaps a story from high school to the present attract over seven million audiences. Director Kang Hyung-cheol used his unique film production language to transform boring into cheerfulness and stale to delight, and he helped the audience heal their wounds from their youth. He said, "The most important aspect of movie production is creating visual stories, and the background of such visual story is time and space." This paper aims at analyzing the creative time and space production of the director in the film .

  • Color vision of color vision deficiency is possible using Color space's conversion of color image. Color vision of the RG-Color vision deficiency is possible by the case to maximize the G channel(+100), the case to minimize the G channel(-100), the case to maximize the R channel(+100), the case to convert the R channel to the yellow(Y) channel that is the value of $(-)b^*$ coordinate in CIE $L^*a^*b^*$ color space, the case to separate with only the B channel and the G channel and to appear by the light and darkness difference again, and the case to receive the image only by the light and darkness after separation of saturation and conversion of RGB channel.

Spare Representation Learning of Kernel Space Using the Kernel Relaxation Procedure (커널 이완 절차에 의한 커널 공간의 저밀도 표현 학습)

  • In this paper, a new learning methodology for kernel methods that results in a sparse representation of kernel space from the training patterns for classification problems is suggested. Among the traditional algorithms of linear discriminant function, this paper shows that the relaxation procedure can obtain the maximum margin separating hyperplane of linearly separable pattern classification problem as SVM(Support Vector Machine) classifier does. The original relaxation method gives only the necessary condition of SV patterns. We suggest the sufficient condition to identify the SV patterns in the learning epoches. For sequential learning of kernel methods, extended SVM and kernel discriminant function are defined. Systematic derivation of learning algorithm is introduced. Experiment results show the new methods have the higher or equivalent performance compared to the conventional approach.
