  • Network modeling of irrigation system that links irrigation facilities with stream is necessary to establish complicated rural water management system and to manage agricultural water effectively. This study attempted a network modeling for an agricultural water district called "ANGO" located in Anseongcheon watershed by connecting ArcHydro Model developed to control geographical information data in the field of water resources and AWDS(Agricultural Water Demand & Supply Estimation System) developed by KRC (Korea Rural Community & Agriculture Corporation). Network modeling was embodied by build topology between spatial objects of total 70 agricultural irrigation facilities (24 reservoirs, 18 pumping stations, 28 weirs) and stream network using ArcHydro Model. In addition, new menus were added in ArcGIS system for query and visualization of text-based AWDS outputs such as irrigation facilities information, water demand and supply analysis.

  • Ryu et al. proposed a multiple target DOA tracking algorithm using a linear sensor array. In Ryu's algorithm first, the signal subspace is estimated using sensor output and the angular innovations of targets are extracted from the estimated signal subspace. Next, the DOA's of targets are tracked using the angular innovations as the inputs of Kalman filters. Ryu's algorithm has good features that it has no data association problem and is efficient. However, Ryu's algorithm can't be a lied to an arbitrarily shaped array because it was proposed using linear sensor array. Actually, when the sensor array is used in the various application fields, sensors have a position error. Therefore, the sensor array can be an arbitrarily shaped array. In this paper, we propose a multiple target DOA tracking algorithm applicable to an arbitrarily shaped array, and it sustains the good features of Ryu's algorithm.

  • It is widely believed that increasing socio-economic polarization inspired by globalization and economic restructuring worsens residential segregation by class in Korean cities. However, the existing literature falls short in showing the recent changes of the residential segregation, particularly after the 1997 financial crisis, with reliable and systematic segregation measures. Noting that there are the two major dimension in residential segregation - evenness-concentration and exposure-clustering - this study introduced not only global measure (dissimilarity index and isolation/interaction index) but also local measures (location quotient and Local Moran's I) for each dimension. These measures are applied to the case study of Seoul in the 2000s. The class is defined by education attainment and the data is obtain through the MicroData System Service System(MDSS). The result shows that the residential segregation by education attainment persists through 2000s and even get worse in some dimension. More significantly, it turns out that high-class and low-class residence are nearly mirror-images of each other, indicating high segregation.

  • 3D RMR (Rock Mass Rating) analysis has been performed by applying the Geostatistical integration technique for geophysical and borehole data. Of the various geostatistical techniques for the integrated data analysis, in this study, we applied the SKlvm (Simple Kriging with local varying means) method that substitutes the values of the interpreted geophysical result with the mean values of the RMR at the location to be inferred. The substitution is performed by the indicator transform between the result of geophysical interpretation and the observed RMR values at borehole sites. The used geophysical data are the electrical resistivity and MT result, and 10 borehole sites are investigated to obtain the RMR values. This integrated analysis makes the interpretation to be more practical for identifying the realistic RMR distribution that supports the regional geological situation.

  • The behaviors of the ground in crossed zone and the existing upper tunnel in shallow cover due to the excavation of new lower tunnel crossed to that was studied. Model test was performed in the large scale test pit, the size was '$4.0m(width){\times}3.8m(height){\times}4.1m(length)$'. Test ground was constructed uniformly by sand in middle density and test with the crossed angle of $56^{\circ}$ (obliquely) were performed. The numerical analysis was performed on equal condition with model test. Results of the study by model test and numerical analysis show that earth pressure and settlement of the ground in crossed zone were redistributed due to the longitudinal arching effect by the excavation of lower tunnel. Model test shows that upper tunnel blocks stress flow due to the longitudinal arching effect by excavation of lower tunnel.

  • The compression wave produced when a high-speed train enters a tunnel propagates along the tunnel ahead of the train. The micro pressure wave related to the compression wave is a special physics phenomena created by high-speed train-tunnel interfaces. A among methods for the purpose of reducing the micro pressure wave is to delay the gradient of the compression wave by using aerodynamic structures. The objective of this paper is to determine the optimum slanted portal using the moving model rig. According to the results, the maximum value of micro pressure wave is reduced by 19.2% for the $45^{\circ}$ slanted portal installed at the entrance of the tunnel and reduced by 41.9% for the $45^{\circ}$ slanted portals at the entrance and exit of the tunnel. Also it is reduced by 34.6% for the $30^{\circ}$ slanted portals installed at the entrance and exit of the tunnel.

  • This study proposed a classification method of LIDAR data by using simultaneously the color information (R, G, B) and reflection intensity information (I) obtained from terrestrial LIDAR and by analyzing the association between these data through the use of statistical classification methods. To this end, first, the factors that maximize variance were calculated using the variables, R, G, B, and I, whereby the factor matrix between the principal factor and each variable was calculated. However, although the factor matrix shows basic data by reducing them, it is difficult to know clearly which variables become highly associated by which factors; therefore, Varimax method from orthogonal rotation was used to obtain the factor matrix and then the factor scores were calculated. And, by using a non-hierarchical clustering method, K-mean method, a cluster analysis was performed on the factor scores obtained via K-mean method as factor analysis, and afterwards the classification accuracy of the terrestrial LiDAR data was evaluated.

  • Collaborative filtering is a popular technique for information filtering to reduce information overload and widely used in application such as recommender system in the E-commerce domain. Collaborative filtering systems collect human ratings and provide Predictions based on the ratings of other people who share the same tastes. The quality of predictions depends on the number of items which are commonly rated by people. Therefore, it is difficult to apply pure collaborative filtering algorithm directly to dynamic collections where items are constantly added or removed. In this paper we suggest a method for managing dynamic collections. It creates taste space for items using a technique called Singular Vector Decomposition (SVD) and maintains clusters of core items on the space to estimate relevance of past and future items. To evaluate the proposed method, we divide database of user ratings into those of old and new items and analyze predicted ratings of the latter. And we experimentally show our method is efficiently applied to dynamic collections.

  • Air pollution monitoring has attracted a lot of interests because it affects directly to the human life quality. The most of the current air pollution monitoring stations use the expensive and bulky instruments and are only installed in the specific area. Therefore, it is difficult to install them to as many places as people need. In this work, we constructed a low price and small size Radio Frequency(RF) sensor system to solve this problem. This system also had the measurement range similar to the ones used in the air pollution forecast systems. This system had the sensor unit to measure the air quality, the central processing unit for air quality data acquisition, the power unit to supply the power to every units, and the RF unit for the wireless transmission and reception of the data. This system was easy to install in the field. We also added a GPS unit to track the position of the RF-sensor in real time by wireless communication. For the various measurements of the air pollution, we used CO, $O_3$, $NO_2$ sensors as gas sensors and also installed a dust sensor.
