Finite element analysis of peri-implant bone stress influenced by cervical module configuration of endosseous implant (임플란트 경부형상이 주위골 응력에 미치는 영향에 관한 유한요소법적 분석)

  • Statement of problem: Crestal bone loss, a common problem associated with dental implant, has been attributed to excessive bone stresses. Design of implant's transgingival (TG) part may affect the crestal bone stresses. Purpose: To investigate if concavely designed geometry at a dental implant's TG part reduces peri-implant bone stresses. Material and methods: A total of five differently configured TG parts were compared. Base model was the ITI one piece implant (Straumann, Waldenburg, Switzerland) characterized by straight TG part. Other 4 experimental models, i.e. Model-1 to Model-4, were designed to have concave TG part. Finite element analyses were carried out using an axisymmetric assumption. A vertical load of 50 N or an oblique load of 50 N acting at $30^{\circ}$ with the implant's long axis was applied. For a systematic stress comparison, a total of 19 reference points were defined on nodal points around the implant. The peak crestal bone stress acting at the intersection of implant and crestal bone was estimated using regression analysis from the stress results obtained at 5 reference points defined along the mid plane of the crestal bone. Results: Base Model with straight configuration at the transgingival part created highest stresses on the crestal bone. Stress level was reduced when concavity was imposed. The greater the concavity and the closer the concavity to the crestal bone level, the less the crestal stresses. Conclusion: The transgingival part of dental implant affect the crestal bone stress. And that concavely designed one may be used to reduce bone stress.

Analysis of fatigue crack growth behavior in composite-repaired aluminum place (복합재 패치 보강 평판의 균열선단 진전거동 해석)

  • An analytical study was conducted to characterize the fatigue crack growth behavior of pre-cracked aluminum plates repaired with asymmetric bonded composite patch. For single-sided repairs, due to the asymmetry and the presence of out-of$.$plane bending, crack front shape would become skewed curvilinear started from a uniform through-crack profile, as observed from Previous studies. Therefore, for the accurate investigation of fatigue behavior, it is necessary to predict the actual crack front evolution and take it into consideration in the analysis. In this study, the fatigue analysis of single-sided repairs considering crack front shape development was conducted by implementing three-dimensional successive finite element method coupled with linear elastic fracture mechanics (LEFM) concept, which enables the growing crack front to be directly traced and modeled in a step by step way. Through conducting present analysis technique, crack path of the patched plate as well as the fatigue life was evaluated with sufficient accuracy. The analytical predictions of both the crack front shape evolution and the fatigue life were in good agreement with the experimental observations.

Fire Resistance Performance of High Strength Concrete Columns with Fireproof Gypsum Board (방화석고보드를 부착한 고강도 콘크리트 기둥의 내화성능)

  • In this study, fire resistance performance of high strength concrete specimen with fireproof gypsum board was investigated for possible use in upgrading fire-resistant performance of the existing building and repair of fire damaged structures. Fire test of eight identical high strength concrete columns were carried out for 180 minutes in accordance with ISO-834. The temperature distributions in longitudinal reinforcement and concrete temperature at various depths were recorded. The fireproof performance of gypsum board and explosive spalling of concrete were observed. The specimens with 15 mm thick twoply fireproof gypsum board spalled after gypsum board crumbled regardless of fastening methods. However, when the thickness of fireproof gypsum board was more than 30 mm, it was possible to prevent the explosive spalling and control the rebar temperature. Although the effect of cover thickness could not be compared because the explosive spalling occurred, there seemed to be no difference in insulation efficiency.

  • In this study, The purpose of this study is to experimentally investigate the shear behavior of reinforced flat plate embedded with GFRP(glass fiber reinforced polymer) plate with openings. The GFRP shear reinforcement is manufactured into a plate shape with several openings to ensure perfect integration with concrete. The test was performed on 7 specimens. the parameters include the type of reinforcement and amount of the shear reinforcement., From the test, we analysed the crack, failure mode, Strain, load-displacement graph. a calculation of the shear strength of reinforced flat plate with GFRP plate based on the ACI 318-11 was compared with the test results. The results of the experiment indicate that GFRP plate is successfully applied as a shear reinforcement in the flat plate under punching shear.

Research on the Design Methods of Appendages to Reduce Vortex Flows Around Underwater Vehicles (수중운동체 주위 와류유동 저감을 위한 부가물 형상 설계기법 연구)

  • This research establishes design standards for vortex reduction devices (VRDs) aimed at minimizing underwater radiated noise by mitigating horseshoe vortex (HSV) and root vortex (RV) generated at the junction of appendages and the hull of underwater vehicles. Initial analysis replaced the influence of appendage dimensions and flow velocity with the Reynolds number by verifying the Reynolds similarity of vortex flows. The three-dimensional surfaces of VRDs were parameterized using Bezier curves. Optimal length-to-height ratios were identified by evaluating the vortex reduction performances of VRDs with various dimensions. Ultimately, non-dimensional design standards were derived for VRDs, ensuring effective vortex reduction across any appendage, thereby enhancing stealth performance.

  • The purpose of this study is to improve the problems in Umbrella Arch Method, such as the oxidation, the difficulties in installation and cutting of the steel pipe. The applicability of the high strength FRP (Fiber-Reinforced-Plastic) materials composed of glass fiber as a substitute of steel pipe was investigated in this study. The results of this study show that FRP material is better than steel pipe in work performance and the durability of material except for its price. From the numerical analysis with various types of FRP, it was evaluated that the equiangular curve type is more efficient than the flat type developed abroad, and the supporting effect of FRP-grout mixture is similar to that of steel-grout mixture in results of bending strength test.

  • This paper describes the statistical analysis method of predicting the ship resistance. The equation for the wavemaking resistance coefficient is derived as the principal dimensions and sectional area coefficients by using the wavemaking resistance theory and its regression coefficients are determined from the regression analysis of the resistance test results. The equation for the form factor is derived by purely regression analysis of the principal dimensions, sectional area coefficients and resistance test results. Also, it is shown that the wavemaking resistance can be minimize by varying the sectional area curve without changing the principal dimensions of the ship. This methods were applied to the resistance prediction of a bulk carrier. And the, the modified hull form with minimum wavemaking resistance was obtained and the reduction of effective power was confirmed by the resistance test.

  • Chemical mechanical polishing (CMP) 공정은 deep 서브마이크론 집적회로의 다층배선구조률 실현하기 위해 inter-metal dielectric (IMD), inter-layer dielectric layers (ILD), pre-metal dielectric (PMD) 층과 같은 절연막 외에도 W, Al, Cu와 같은 금속층을 평탄화 하는데 효과적으로 사용되고 있으며, 다양한 소자 제작 및 새로운 물질 등에도 광범위하게 응용되고 있다. 하지만 Cu damascene 구조 제작으로 인한 CMP 응용 과정에서, 기계적으로 깨지기 쉬운 65 nm의 소자 이하의 구조에서 새로운 저유전상수인 low-k 물질의 도입으로 인해 낮은 하력의 기계적 연마가 필요하게 되었다. 본 논문에서는 전기화학적 기계적 연마 적용을 위해, I-V 특성 곡선을 이용하여 active, passive, transient, trans-passive 영역의 전기화학적 특성을 알아보았으며, Cu 막의 표면 형상을 알아보기 위해 scanning electron microscopy (SEM) 측정과 energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) 분석을 통해 금속 화학적 조성을 조사하였다.

Optimal Aerodynamic Design and Performance Analysis for Pitch-Controlled HAWT (가변 피치형 수평축 풍력 터빈의 공력 최적설계 및 피치제어 성능 연구)

  • Optimal aerodynamic design for the pitch-controlled horizontal axis wind turbine and its aerodynamic performance for various pitch angles are performed numerically by using the blade element momentum theory. The numerical calculation includes effects such as Prandtl‘s tip loss, airfoil distribution, and wake rotation. Six different airfoils are distributed along the blade span, and the special airfoil i.e. airfoil of 40% thickness ratio is adopted at the hub side to have structural integrity. The nonlinear chord obtained from the optimal design procedure is linearized to decrease the weight and to increase the productivity with very little change of the aerodynamic performance. From the comparisons of the power, thrust, and torque coefficients with corresponding values of different pitch angles, the aerodynamic performance shows delicate changes for just $3^{\circ}$ increase or decrease of the pitch angle. For precisive pitch control, it requires the pitch control algorithm and its drive mechanism below $3^{\circ}$ increment of pitch angle. The maximum torque is generated when the speed ratio is smaller than the designed one.

Evaluation of Axial Bearing Capacity of Waveform Micropile by Centrifuge Test (원심모형실험을 통한 파형 마이크로파일의 연직 지지력 평가)

  • In this study, a series of centrifuge tests were performed in order to observe the bearing capacity of waveform micropile, a new concept of micropile that uses a modified jet grouting process. A total of six models were considered, conventional micropile, jet grouted pile, and four different shapes of waveform micropiles. The test results indicated that the waveform micropile effectively contributes to the increase of the bearing capacity compared to the micropile without the shear keys. Among the waveform micropiles, the model that has a relatively small space between the shear keys showed the most significant improvement of load capacity. Additionally, the ultimate load capacities of all piles were compared using well-known estimation method. As a result, P-S curve method and total settlement method with 25.4 mm were considered suitable to account ultimate load for the waveform micropile.
