  • Theory and experimental results of measuring the microwave dielectric characteristics of low-loss materials by using dielectric rod resonator method are presented. The $TE_{011}$ mode resonance frequency was adapted to minimize the effect of the air gap between the rod and the conducting plates. The dielectric properties were computed from the resonance frequency, sample geometry and 3 dB bandwidth. The error of measurements was within ${\pm}3{\%}$ for dielectric constant and was within ${\pm}12{\%}$ for dielectric loss.

  • In this paper, a novel approach based on wavelet transform is proposed to process the scraped character which is represented on digital image. The basis idea is that the scraped character is described by its textured neighborhood, and it is decomposed into multiresolution features at different levels with its background region. The image is first decomposed into sub bands by applying Daubechies wavelets. Character features are extracted from the low frequency sub-bands by partition, FCM clustering and area-based region process. High frequency ones are activated by applying local energy density over a moving mask. Features are synthesized in order to reconstruct the original image state through inverse wavelet transform Background region is eliminated and character is extracted. The experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

  • A sealed-off waveguide $CO_2$ laser with a length of 50 cm and a cross-sectional area of $6\times 6\ttextrm{mm}^{2}$ has been designed and constructed. The laser is transversely excited by RF (13.56 MHz) discharge. Output characteristics of the laser has been investigated performing variations of total gas pressure, input rf power, and mixing ratios of gases. The maximum output power of 9.5 W was obtained under the condition of total gas pressure of 50 Torr, input rf power of 180 W, and gas mixture of 6 : 1 : 2 : 1 of $He:CO_{2}:N_{2}:Xe$.

  • In emission computed tomography, statistical reconstruction methods in the context of a Bayesian framework have been a topic of interest over the last decade. This was mainly due to the fact that Bayesian approaches can incorporate a priori information into the reconstruction algorithm. Although these approaches can exhibit good performance, their applications to the clinic is hindered mainly by their high computational cost. On the other hand, the speed and simplicity of the filtered backprojection (FBP) algorithm have led to its widespread use in most clinical applications. In this work, we use spline models, which have been quite useful in Bayesian reconstruction, as regularizers for high-frequency apodization in FBP algorithm and show that the effects of using spline models as priors in Bayesian reconstruction can also be achieved in FBP reconstruction.

  • A distortion suppression technology for employing multiple inputs in 3n+1 type current mode Max circuit is proposed using the adjustment of transconductance. If the number of input blocks of the current mode Max circuit increases, the high frequency distortion in the output signal grows. In this paper, it has been disclosed that the distortion in the multiple input Max circuit is proportional to such accumulated parasitic capacitance, to the derivative of the output signal and also to tile inverse of transconductance of the common diode-connected transistor. The proposed idea is by employing as larger transconductance of the common diode-connected transistor as possible. The effectiveness of the proposed idea has been proved through the HSPICE simulation for the current mode Max circuits with various numbers of input signals.

  • Decoupling capacitors are commonly used to reduce the effect of SSN propagated through parallel power and ground planes in high-speed multilayer printed circuit boards (PCBs). In this paper, we introduced a simple high frequency measurement and proposed a wideband (50 MHz ∼3 GHz) equivalent circuit model for decoupling capacitor considering high frequency parasitic effects. The proposed model can be easily combined with the SPICE model of power supply planes far SSN analysis. The circuit simulations with the proposed model show good agreement with the measurement results. Also, we expect to accurately analyze the noise reduction effect as a function of value and location using the proposed model of decoupling capacitor.

  • The modern society is advancing from the analog era to the digital imaging era, and in line with the trend of this era, various imaging devices such as exploration robots, medical equipment, and CCTV are helping our daily life a lot. However, noises caused by various causes in digital images not only cause image deterioration, but also deteriorate and deteriorate image quality. A typical noise is AWGN, and types of filters to remove it include an average filter, a median filter, and an alpha-trimmed average filter, but these filters have a disadvantage in that they show somewhat inadequate noise reduction performance in the high frequency region. Therefore, in this paper, a modified spatial division average filter based on standard deviation is proposed to effectively reduce AWGN existing in the high frequency region of the image.

  • The applications of high-frequency induction heating has recently been studied in various industrial fields. In this study, induction heating is applied to a SCM440 specimen that is widely used in industry. The specimen was made up of a cylinder 20 mm in diameter and 160 mm long. An induction heating power supply module was used to generate heat in the cylinder at a high frequency (approximately 85 kHz) for 50 seconds. The temperature of the specimen was measured at the 150 mm length in 5 second intervals. Results such as joule heat and temperature are compared with the numerical model analysis using an electromagnetic-thermal co-simulation technique. The analytical model of the cylinder was modeled by considering the skin effect. The median measured temperature after induction heating was conducted for 50 seconds was $57.65^{\circ}C$, compared to a predicted analytical value of $57.27^{\circ}C$. Thus, the analytical results are in good agreement with the experimental results, and this model can predict the induction heating phenomenon numerically.
