Harmonic Signal Linearization of Nonlinear Power Amplifier Using Digital Predistortion for Multiband Wireless Transmitter (다중 대역 송신을 위한 디지털 사전 왜곡 기법을 이용한 비선형 전력 증폭기의 고조파 신호 선형화)

  • In this paper, a nonlinear relationship between an input complex envelope and an output complex envelope of m-th harmonic zone is theoretically analyzed, and AM/$AM_m$ and AM/$PM_m$ are defined. A scheme to extract these characteristics from measured in-phase and quadrature-phase data is suggested. The proposed analysis is verified with a fundamental-fundamental and fundamental-third harmonic measurements for a InGaP power amplifier(PA). Based on the harmonic-band nonlinear analysis and extraction scheme, a new technique to send a signal in m-th harmonic band with a harmonic signal Linearization Digital Predistortion(DPD) scheme is presented. A numerical analysis and a Look-Up Table(LUT) based DPD algorithms to linearize output signal on m-th harmonic zone are developed. For a 16- and a 64-QAM input signals, a DPD for third harmonic signal linearization is implemented, and output spectrum and signal constellation are measured. The wholly distorted signals are linearized, and thus the measured Error Vector Magnitudes (EVM) are 6.4 % and 6.5 % respectively. The results show that a proposed scheme linearizes a nonlinearly distorted harmonic band signals. The proposed nonlinear analysis and predistortion scheme can be applied to multiband transmitter in next generation software defined radio(SDR)/cognitive radio(CR) wireless system.

Double-pass Second Harmonics Generation of Tunable CW Infrared Laser Beam of DOFA System in Periodically Poled LiNbO3 (PPLN 비선형 결정과 이중통과법을 이용한 DOFA 시스템에서 증폭된 연속발진형 파장가변 적외선 레이저광의 제 2고조파 발생)

  • The optimum conditions of second harmonic generation (SHG) can be successfully achieved experimentally using single pass and double pass methods of a pumping beam. The beam has a power of several Watts radiated by a DOFA (Diode Laser Oscillator & Fiber Amplifier) system, which is a high power CW wavelength tunable infrared laser system, in a PPLN (Periodically Poled MgO doped Lithium Niobate) nonlinear crystal. In the case of a single pass method, the parameters are the wavelength of 535 nm for SHG and the output power of 245 mW generated from the pumping input beam with wavelength of 1070 nm and the power of 2.45 W at phase matching temperature of $108.9^{\circ}C$. The conversion efficiency of SHG was 10%. In order to enhance the output of SHG, the double pass method of the SHG system of a PPLN using a concave mirror for the retroreflection and a pair of wedged flat windows for phase compensation was also presented. In this double pass system, we obtained the SHG output beam with the wavelength of 535 nm and the maximum power of 383 mW at optimum phase matching temperature of $108.5^{\circ}C$ by using an incident pumping beam with wavelength of 1070 nm and the power of 2.45 W. The maximum conversion efficiency is 15.6%, which is more than that of the single pass method.

A Study on the Development of Harmonic Limit Device for Stabilizing Main Circuit Equipment of Train (열차운행 안정화를 위한 주회로 기기의 고조파 제한장치 개발에 관한 연구)

  • This paper proposes the application of harmonic constraints to address the problems caused by abnormal voltage increases when electric railway vehicles are running. The AC line that supplies the train with power during operation is used to provide electricity of 25kV/60 Hz, but gradually the size and frequency of harmonics involved in the line are varied with the technological evolution of the railroad vehicle electrical equipment. An increase in heat losses due to the failure of the instrument transformer (PT), the main circuit device, which is a serious problem with the recent train safety operation, or to the main displacement voltage. When high frequency components are introduced through low frequency Transformers of the main circuit device, the high intensity of the components is caused by the high intensity of the core and the current flow of the parasitic core is increased, thus generating heat. To solve this problem, the recent adjustment of the sequence has applied artificial NOTCH OFF of the power converter. However, the method of receiving and controlling the OFF signal operates by interaction between the ground and the vehicle's devices, thus it is invalid in the event of failure, and an actual accident is occurring. Therefore, the harmonic currents were required to prevent possible flow of harmonics, and conducted a study to prevent accidental occurrence of train accidents and to verify feasibility of the device through the simulations of the train's experimental analysis and the simulations of the train for safe operation.

A Novel Design of Frequency Multiplier Using Feedforward Technique and Defected Ground Structure (Feedforward와 Defected Ground Structure를 이용한 주파수 체배기 설계)

  • A novel design of frequency multiplier using a feedforward technique and a defected ground structure(DGS) is proposed. The feedforward loop in the proposed frequency multiplier suppresses the fundamental component $(f_0)$, the dumb-bell or spiral shaped DGS diminish unwanted harmonics such as second, third and fourth. Due to the combination of the feedforward structure and the DGS, only the multiplied frequency component$(2f_0,\;3f_0,\;4f_0)$ appears at the output port and the other unwanted components are suppressed excellently. The frequency multiplier is designed at 1 GHz $(f_0)$, by the proposed technique and measured. The measured output power of $2f_0,\;3f_0$ and $4f_0$ is -2.59 dBm, -5.36dBm and -4.57dBm, respectively, when the input power is 0dBm.

  • 본 연구에서는 시프트 레지스터와 고정 주파수의 삼각파를 사용하고 있는 종전의 Random PWM기법의 스펙트럼 특성을 개선시키기 위한 방법을 제시하고 있다. 제안된 방법은 시프트 레지스터의 lead-lag 랜덤비트를 사용한다는 점에서 종전의 방법과 동일하나, 이와 논리적 비교를 하기 위한 랜덤 주파수의 삼각파를 이용한다는 점에서 종전의 방법과 다르다. 따라서 제안된 방법은 랜덤 펄스 위치 PWM의 특징과 랜덤 스위칭 PWM의 특징을 모두 갖고 있다. 본 연구의 타당성을 확인하기 위하여 인버터 기반의 3상 유도모터 구동시스템에 제안된 방법을 적용하였다. 그 결과 종전의 방법에 비하여 인버터 구동 유도모터의 전압 및 전류의 고조파 스펙트럼의 광대역화에 탁월한 효과가 있음을 입증할 수 있었다.

  • Random PWM 방식은 기본파의 배수 고조파에 밀집된 성분을 광대역화할 수 있기 때문에 특정 주파수의 노이즈 감소 및 소음 저감 등에 효과가 있는 인버터 스위칭 방식이다. Random PWM을 구현하는 방법은 랜덤 변수를 생성하고 이를 이용하여 스위칭 주파수를 가변하거나, 인가되는 벡터의 위치를 변화시키는 등의 다양한 방법이 있다. 본 연구에서는 Random PWM 구현 방식, 랜덤 변수의 변동 주기, 랜덤 변수가 적용되는 크기 등의 차이에 따라 주파수 광대역화에 미치는 효과를 분석하였다. 이 결과로부터 구현을 위해 요구되는 조건에 따른 Random PWM의 효과를 비교할 수 있으며, 투입 비용 및 시스템 제한 조건 대비 최적의 Random PWM 방식을 선정할 수 있는 기준으로 활용될 수 있다.

A Predistortion Linearizer Using the In-phase Modulator (동 위상 변조기를 이용한 전치왜곡 선형화기)

  • In this paper, a predistortion linearizer using the in-phase modulator is proposed. The harmonic generator of the proposed predistorter extracts a second harmonic signals. These signals are divided in-phase and quadrature-phase signals, and then amplifying each signals using variable gain amplifier. An in-phase modulator, modulate fundamental signal with second harmonic signals, generates the predistortion intermodulation distortion (IM) signals and controls amplitude and phase of them with modulation factors. As a result, this predistorter is suppressed intermodulation distortion signals of power amplifier effectively. The proposed linearizer has been implemented to operate in Cellular-band. The test results show that the third order IM is cancelled more than 20dB in case of CW 2-tone signals with ${\Delta}f$=1MHz. Also, it's improved the adjacent channel power ratio (ACPR) more than 7dB for IS-95 CDMA 1FA signals.

  • 본 논문에서는 의료기기 구현시 생체신호처리 과정에서 부가되는 전력선 잡음을 제거하기 위한 필터를 구현한다. 요즘 구현된 필터는 저주파 생체신호의 왜곡을 최소화하며, 전원 주파수의 고조파 성분만을 제거하는 특성을 가지며, 실시간 처리를 위하여 연산량을 최소화하도록 하였다.

  • 정상분과 역상분의 전압이 존재하는 삼상 계통의 전압 불평형은 dq 변환에서 맥동전압 성분을 발생시킨다. 인버터의 동작을 위한 PLL의 위상 추적 능력은 맥동 전압에 의해 감소하게 된다. 정상분과 역상분의 분리를 통해 맥동 성분의 제거가 가능하지만 복잡한 PLL 구성을 갖는다. 본 연구는 불평형 상태에서 발생하는 dq 성분의 주파수가 기본파의 짝수 배만 존재하는 성질을 이용하여 comb 필터를 PLL 제어기에 적용하였다. 전압 불평형 및 고조파 성분에 대해서도 맥동 없는 dq 전압 획득이 가능하다. 기본 PLL 제어기에 단순 시간지연의 comb 필터로 견실한 PLL 제어기가 얻어진다. 제안된 PLL 제어기는 시뮬레이션으로 성능을 확인하였다.

  • This paper deals with the hybrid active filter which can reduce the 11th/13th harmonics in AC network by using the single tuned filter. Since the proposed algorithm uses the detuning compensation capability of the filter, the output voltage of the proposed active power filter is changed according to the capacitance of capacitors, magnitude of harmonic current, resonance frequency and control mode. In this paper, the control characteristics and the design of hybrid active filter is investigated. A new hybrid active filter with new algorithm, which is an active filter with single tuned filter instead of double tuned filter, is proposed.
