  • Ni-W alloys containing 10 to 50wt% W were prepared by electrodeposition. Tungsten content in the alloy increased with current density. X-ray diffraction analysis revealed that the alloy was crystalline phase when deposited at current densities lower than 50mA/${cm}^2$. Their crystal structure transformed to amorphous at higher current densities. In terms of tungsten content, the crystal -+ amorphous transition occurred at 40-46wt% which was identified by the 3 fold increase in the width of a diffraction peak. The lattice parameter of crystalline phase increased with W upto 40wt% which is higher than the solubility limit of W (about 30wt%) in Ni. Therefore, the alloys are considered to be Ni solid solution supersaturated with W. The amorphous Ni-W alloys were recrystallized by annealing them at temperatures over $400^{\circ}C$. This was evidenced by the appearance a strong [ 11 11 annealing texture. The supersaturated W was precipitated during the annealing at over $800^{\circ}C$. The current-density dependence of W content and crystallinity was utilized to produce alternating layers of crystalline (30wt% W) and amorphous (50wt%) phases which may exhibit unique mechanical and corrosion properties.

  • The presented study was based on the notions that 1)the age-separated perspective would not be functional for post modern society which characterized by a diversity of life styles and 2)effects of wage peak system have been investigated mainly through managemental efficiency with quantitative analysis. In those notions, this study aimed to investigate effects of wage peak system based on age integration perspective with a qualitative method. Deep case study were executed with four workers who fully understand regarding wage peak system. Results showed that three sub categories were drawn in the meaning focused on issues of wage peak system; uneasy attention on workers who applied for wage peak system; pro and con of wage peak system for aged workers; achieving age integrated environment through mutual understanding.

  • This study examined the dynamic role that automation has had upon employment, productivity, and profitability. For the analysis, 342 companies of the Workplace Panel Survey of the Korea Labor Institute conducted from 2005 to 2015 was used. For analytical models, the fixed effect model, which is capable of controlling the endogeneity problems of variables, was used. According to the analysis results, the increased ratio of automation in Korean companies (1) resulted in the increase of turnover in the short and long terms, a temporary decrease in employment, and (2) a decrease of productivity in the short and medium terms, and thereby (3) failing to change profitability in a positive manner.

  • The purpose of this study is to explore the effect of perceived job insecurity on job crafting behaviors among employees from two different cultures: Jamaica and South Korea. Growth needs strength was also examined as a moderating variable on the job insecurity/job crafting relationship. This study collected 102 data samples from working individuals from Jamaica and 98 from South Korea. The Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) and the hierarchical regression analysis were used in order to analyze the data. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS 24.0. Our research results indicated that perceived job insecurity has a significant effect on employees job crafting behaviors. The relationship between perceived job insecurity and job crafting behaviors differs based on culture. In addition, employees growth need strength moderates the relationship between the two variables. Although this study has some limitations, it contributed to the stress-coping literature by showing that individuals will engage in coping behaviors when they perceived job insecurity in the organization. In addition, culture and individual drive or need for growth plays an important role in how individuals cope with perceived stress or uncertainty.

  • The purpose of this paper is to empirically analyze the effects of related and unrelated varieties of industry and occupation on regional economic growth. Recent studies dealing with the mechanism of economic growth argue that occupation as well as industry act as the driving force of regional economic growth by inducing knowledge externalities. Therefore, this study comprehensively analyzed the effects of occupational diversity along with industrial diversity. For the empirical analysis, we set the regional labor market areas as the spatial units of analysis. Dependent variables include regional per capita GRDP and employment growth between 2010 and 2015, and related and unrelated variety of industry and occupations measured based on the entropy approach are used as key explanatory variables. Our empirical results show that the related variety of industry has a positive effect on per capita GRDP in the region, and the related variety of occupation has a positive effect on regional employment growth. On the other hand, the unrelated variety of industries shows a negative correlation with regional employment growth. Based on the empirical results, this paper provides regional policy implications for strengthening economic vitality by dividing the diversity of industry and occupation into related and unrelated varieties and analyzing how they affect regional economic growth.

  • Employment form and gender as stratification factors may generate health disparities in Korea. Previous studies have examined the existence of health disparities by employment form and gender. However, few studies examined how the health disparities can be reduced effectively. This study intends to confirm the existence of health disparities between employment-gender groups and explore the effective health resources which can reduce the possible disparities. Using a national probability sample of Korean adults collected in 2011, we attempts to test the interaction effects between employment-gender groups and health resources on self-rated health. For health resources, 24 variables of five dimensions(social relationship, psychological resource, activity factor, health behavior, and usage of medical service) are taken into account. In results, first, the health levels of the other three employment-gender groups are worse than that of male-regular workers. Second, the effective health resources which can reduce the health disparities are different across the employment-gender groups. An effective health resource for female-nonregular workers is a peaceful relationship with her children. Effective health resources for male-nonregular workers are peaceful relationships with his parents and siblings, low stress, religious activity, and exercise. An effective health resource for female-regular workers is interpersonal trust. These results imply that personal or social interventions for health of specific disadvantaged groups need to focus on specific resources which are more effective for the groups.
