  • This study analyzed employment instability, defining the increase of employment instability as 'a greater possibility of losing a job and a declining possibility of re-employment'. Flow variable measurements showed that the extent of employment instability was higher post 2000 compared to the period of before financial crisis. When considering the status of workers, such an increase in employment instability can be characterized by a greater possibility of unemployment for daily workers. If this is examined in conjunction with job creation and destruction, employment instability is increased not because there are less jobs being created but because there is an actual decline in the number of jobs and also because the jobs that are being created are mostly temporary. On the other hand the increased instability is due to the large-scaled public work policy under the financial crisis.

Therefore, the researcher would like to look into the influence which is taken by Job Insecurity after verifying Job Instability Recognition through employees and identification of the level into Trust in organization, In particular, for the employee who is working in a catering department and expected to be ranked highly among tourist companies concerning Job Instability Recognition. According to the result of a tentative theory that Job Insecurity will effect negatively to Trust, conversely, it does not give any considerable effects both Trust in colleague and company. It just turned out that the risky factor of their dismissal could come to a substantial consequence to Trust in Superior. In this regard, a study shows that there isn't any relation to Trust in colleague even though there Is the cause of being fired. In this sense, employees can assume that a work evaluation or relationship with their superior, who work together in the field, is related to the risky factor regarding their dismissal. • Precarious employment is negatively associated with mental health including depression. The aim of the study is to suggest the multidimensional definition of precarious employment and examine its impacts on depression. Using the fifth save of the Korean Working Condition Survey, we first measured six different dimensions of employment precariousness: temporariness, disempowerment, vulnerability, difficulty exercising rights, unpredictability of working times, and low wage. All of six precariousness indicators consisted of a scale from 0 to 100. Then, we conducted logistic regression to examine the association between employment precariousness and depression. For men, the risk of depression increased by 3.1%, 1%, and 0.5%, respectively, for each one point increase in vulnerability, difficulty in exercising rights, and unpredictability of working times. For women, the risk increased by 0.5%, 2.3%, and 0.8%, respectively, for each one point increase in temporariness, vulnerability, and difficulty in exercising rights. Our findings suggest that not only a secure employment contract, but also their substantive labor rights should be guaranteed for health for workers.

  • Recently many organizations have engaged in widespread restructuring as well as more flexible usage of labor in an attempt to cut costs and to increase profit. As a result of lays offs resulting from frequent restructuring, many people no longer consider their jobs as permanent positions. many employees have an increased feeling of job insecurity. There structuring and following downsizing have created an uncertain environment within creased fear offer ther job losses. therefore the study of job insecurity is significant. especially To understand the relationship between job security and union-relation behaviors on the industrial relations. The purpose of this study suggested the strategies to company and union. The purpose of this study is to examine how the union-relation behaviors are influenced by the job security. This study built a exploratory model that there is causal relationship of job security to union commitment, dual commitment, and labor related behaviors. For the verification of this study model, the regression analysis was applied to the surveys of 236 members of union that are located in Busan, Gyeongnam, Ulsan, and Pohang. The result of this research shows that the job insecurity is strongly related to the union commitment and union related behaviors. According to the research, the effect that the job security affects union commitment and union related behaviors are positive. With the research outputs, we have discussed about the academic and pragmatic viewpoint. We proposed comprehensive model to verify how the job insecurity affects the union-related behaviors, and objectively analyzed the model. The research result was opposite to what the existing theories have said that high job insecurity derives high union-related behaviors. This result is meaningful because it is concerned with the social issues-present situation of Korean company, low-employment, unstable employment and so on. Moreover, this research may contribute to expand the aspect of academic research on job insecurity as there are few research conducted in korea. This research also suggests the realistic alternative of union-related behaviors because it is proved that job security can contribute to innovation activities. Also, this research implies that the matter of job insecurity is the basic need of organizational individual and presents that job security is not a notion but the alternative by using of the positional stability and situational control power. The limitation of this research is that it is only utilized the cross-sectional study. To remedy the cross-sectional study, vertical, and serial method of research is needed. And there is no enough sample to secure more comprehensive data as the targets of the research is limited to Busan and Gyeongnam regions. Finally, the measurement tool for job security is needed to be suitably modified to by the South Korea's economic, linguistic, and cultural situation.

  • Although job insecurity has attracted many scholars for long time, the research of job insecurity has not been accumulated because of nonexistence of and comprehensive and systematic model on job insecurity. This study, therefore, has provided integrated model of job insecurity and has also generated important propositions of job insecurity. This study aims to design the antecedents and consequences(outcomes) of job insecurity of employees. First, we have postulated important hypothesis based on the existing literatures. Second, we have tested hypothesis by the comprehensive review of existing local empirical studies. Third we have provided underlying logics of designing integrated model of job insecurity. And we have also generated Important propositions underlying the model focusing on job insecurity. We propose that employees' job insecurity increase with their expectation about further organizational change, role ambiguity. We also propose that employees' job insecurity raise their psychological strain while reducing their organizational commitment, job satisfaction and work effort. Theoretical implications are discussed, as are the implications of study and suggestions for future research.
