  • Today, as era of Internet competition, experimental magazines-created especially for young adult group-are also trying to convert themselves into a internet magazines. This study intends to find out contents format and visual expression that should be considered for on-line conversion of these magazines. The industry's leading experimental magazines, for example, 'ttl', 'Paper', and 'webzine sponge' which co-exist in both printed and web-based format are to be examined by their contents, typography, colors, pictures& illustrations and others. This study intends to exam and suggest possible contents format and visual expression which they ought to evolve with.

  • 테마파크는 현대 사회와 복잡함 속에서의 현실 탈피와 참여로써 자기 성취를 구현하는 현대적 개념의 종합위락시설로 모든 계층의 사람들이 즐길 수 있는 창조적 유희공원의 일반적 특징을 갖고 있다. 테마파크를 공간, 주제, 유형에 의해 분류해 볼 때 산업적 성공 가능성이 많은 것으로는 공간-실내, 주제-캐릭터, 유형-쇼핑으로 현재 일본의 산리오 퓨로랜드나 국내 일산의 헤이리 딸기파크가 그 사례이다. 본 연구에서는 실내캐릭터쇼핑파크의 사용자 분석을 통하여 온 오프라인 체험 컨텐츠의 가능성을 발견하고, 이를 VR 시뮬레이션 시나리오로 제안하였다. 방법으로는 헤이리 딸기파크에서 5 그룹, 9 개 구역을 필드리서치 하여 체험 시나리오 개발을 위한 의미 있는 단서를 발견하였으며, 이를 토대로 시나리오 기법을 활용하여 7 구역 14 개 시안을 도출하였다. 최종 구체적 사례로 포토포인트 시나리오를 설정하여 오프라인 연계 VR 시나리오를 이용한 구축 사례를 통해 제시하였다. 컨텐츠 개발의 제안을 중심으로 연구 범위를 디자인 사례의 제안으로 제한하였으며, 이는 향후 온 오프라인 연계 테마파크의 구체적 컨텐츠 개발의 활용을 목적으로 디자인되었고, 공간의 실제적 검증을 위한 Web-VR 시뮬레이션 기법의 검토에 도움을 줄 것으로 판단된다.

A Study of Web Navigation Design to Improve Usability of Old-aged Users (고령자의 사용편의성을 위한 웹 네비게이션 디자인에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, I would like to suggest a new model of web navigation design which can enhance old-aged users web usability. I would like to prove that when users enjoy web navigation design, older-users access information much more effectively. Using a survey, suggest some types of web navigation designed for old-aged users. After that, based on the result of the prepatory survey, I conducted an experiment with 4 types of web navigation designs, which have been developed to reflect varying stages of comprehensibility. My survey focused three points. First I tested whether they lost their way while searching for information. Secondly, if they did lose their way, I checked whether they could recover from their errors and find their way back. Thirdly, I investigated whether layout, location and size of the web navigation design factors affected usability. The results of my survey indicated that old-aged users spend the shortest time, have the easiest interface, and have least error incidence under the web navigation design to enhance old-aged users web usability.Thus, developing a web navigation design for old-aged users can encourage older people to be more involved with the internet, especially in the aging society.

A Study on the information architecture and menu design in the type of web sites (웹사이트의 유형 분류에 따른 정보 설계 및 메뉴디자인의 특성 연구)

  • With the increasing number and variety of internet users as well as the development of internet technology, web contents have been taking a more comprehensive, integrated, and practical form. This change has brought to our attention the importance of the information architecture and menu design, both of which are required for the users to navigate vast amount of data promptly, correctly and easily for effective communication in the web sites. In this study, web sites were categorized by the service levels provided to the users, and sampling was performed accordingly. Then, information architecture, the layout and the presentation of the menu design were analyzed. The result of the analysis show that there are distinguishable characteristics in how the menus were expressed and designed, and that these characteristics reflect the users' characteristics in the web interface menu design. With the result of this study, we present a guideline for information architecture and web interface menu design, which reflects user characteristics thereby strengthening usability. Using this guideline, we expect the development of web interface design which should support more efficient communication on the web.

  • The infrastructure of public transportation of Seoul which has been developed in parallel with the progress of modernization receives successful performance evaluation at home and abroad, currently representing the highest transport distribution ratio. In spite of this fact, the public transportation of Seoul, which has entered into advanced phase of services, still leaves much to be desired, in particular, the mobility considering the transportation vulnerable is not well assured. It is time to provide proper supports for the efficient mobility of public transportation in accordance with the social changes present in the aging and multicultural society. This study inquired about the current status of public transportation and that of its users. In addition, the main inquiry target was oriented to the elderly and foreigners for observation and investigation, as well as for the analysis of their behavior. Furthermore, through in-depth interviews, inconvenient factors have been found according to public transportation means and its usage phase, by carrying out detailed evaluations of public transportation services. Based on this, the enhancement elements were defined and the corresponding concept was designed through a series of idea workshops, and this study intended to contribute to improving future public transportation services by proposing the improvement scheme applicable to the upcoming public transportation.

  • This paper proposes an improvement system for the marginalized digital underprivileged of these services due to the lack of intuition and usability for the recently increasing number of unmanned ordering devices' interfaces and device environments. The problem with kiosk service is that it lacks intuition among design principles and cannot be used by wheelchair passengers in environments that meet general standing standards. To solve this problem, we propose a service that can use kiosk-like environments on mobile devices by photographing QR codes with mobile devices. As a result of the experiment, people in their 20s did not experience difficulties in using the existing kiosk model, but in the case of the elderly, it was difficult to use the kiosk, so they asked for help. The improved kiosk model was carried out in their 20s without difficulty, and the results showed that it was carried out without difficulty even in the case of the elderly.

  • This study examined the trends of an illustration artist's art marketing widening its area in recent years and proposes a design concept of color cosmetics. Art marketing is a type of culture marketing and means marketing through exhibitions, performances and other artistic activities. Free artistic sensibility expression in which the artistic motif is melted into a product beyond the works of a particular artist, and the product, in turn, can be reflected in the canvas, has attracted attention. The works of illustrators are widening their area into the item in life not canvas. This paper proposes the color cosmetics design that reflect art marketing. The main target who proposed the design concept was trend-oriented and in their early to mid-20s with a strong personality, showing a strong tendency of attracting attention and being recognized. To emphasize the design concept of color cosmetics packaging design, the progressive image of the target class was reflected through brilliant and intense color combination. The cultural value and meaning are provided as the artistic mood becomes a part of life.

Methodological Implications of AHP for Universal Design Evaluation Method (유니버설디자인의 평가방법에 있어서 AHP 기법의 적용 가능성)

  • This paper is about a the evaluation method for universal design on AHP method. Evaluation of Universal Design to develop indicators of the seven principles of universal design and the tripod of Design(in Japan) Review of the PPP, and previous studies were chosen with reference to a indicators. Selected variables were analyzed using the AHP technique, Universal Design 7 elements were derived weights. Factor of the most important on universal design is 'Perceptible Information'(0.263), and 'Tolerance for Error'(0.207), 'Simple and Intuitive Use'(0.154), 'Low Physical Effort'(0.143) was in order. 'Size & Space for Approach and Use'(0.108) is then shown to be important, while the 'Equitable Use'(0.087), 'Flexibility in Use'(0.038) was rated relatively low importance. Based on the results reflected a weighted evaluation of universal design checklist is proposed. Process to obtain the weights can be applied to a variety of situations.

Energy-Efficient and Parameterized Designs for Fast Fourier Transform on FPGAs (FPGA에서 FFT(Fast Fourier Transform)를 구현하기 위한 에너지 효율적이고 변수화 된 설계)

  • In this paper, we develop energy efficient designs for the Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) on FPGAs. Architectures for FFT on FPGAs are designed by investigating and applying techniques for minimizing the energy dissipation. Architectural parmeters such as degrees of vertical and horizontal parallelism are identified and a design choices. We determine design trade-offs using high-level performance estimation to obtain energy-efficient designs. We implemented a set storage types as parameters, on Xilinx Vertex-II FPGA to verify the estimates. Our designs dissipate 57% to 78% less energy than the optimized designs from the Xilinx library. In terms of a comprehensive metric such as EAT (Energy-Area-Time), out designs offer performance improvements of 3-13x over the Xilinx designs.

Impossible Drawing Using a Loop of Layered Depth Images (계층적 깊이 영상의 고리형 맞물림을 이용한 비현실적 그림 생성)

  • In this paper, we present an algorithm which generates the impossible drawings after the manner of M.C. Escher. A class of the impossible drawings, focused on this paper, depicts the non-realistic configuration such that an ascent (or a descent) looks like keeping on permanently with a height-deceptive loop. We analyze the fact that the ascending direction in the non-realistic illustrations comes not from the physical heights of the objects but from the artist's intended forwarding direction about the loop, which does not have any physical sense of depths. The basic idea to support such impossible drawings is to use a loop of layered depth images (LDIs), where several LDIs are arranged along with the forwarding direction of the loop while having the physically constant heights. The height-deception between two adjacent objects comes from the layer values in the LDIs. In this paper, we propose a NPR system which can manipulate a shape of the loop and layer values of the LDIs and demonstrate several impossible drawings results generated by using our system.
