  • Wing is the most important part of aircraft which produces lift. In general when aircraft takes off or lands, high lift is required and additional devices are adopted in front and aft-side of wing, which constitute so-called multi element airfoils. The objective of this research is to develop a specialized grid generation program to help engineers in reducing human labor and eliminating time-consuming process for mesh regeneration by deforming the initially-given grid system with efficient deforming method. This paper describes briefly about the mesh deformation methods, and provides some results to verify the quality of deformed mesh and eventually correctness of current approach.

  • Numerical computations are carried out to analyze the characteristics of flow fields around Air Supported Ships. The computations are performed in a rectangular grid system based on MAC(Marker And Cell) method. The governing equations are represented in finite difference forms by forward differencing in time and centered differencing in space except for its convection terms. For the certification of this numerical analysis method, the computations of flow fields around a Catamaran, an ACV(Air Cushion Vehicle) modeled with pressure distribution on free surface and two SES(Surface Effect Ship)'s are carried out, The results of the present computations are compared with the previously presented computational and experimental results in the same condition.

  • Accurate simulation of jet plume exhausting into the open space as well as onto the opposing wall is of interest both numerically and physically; the latter, from a system designer's point of view. In the current work, Navier-Stokes computation is undertaken to capture the flow pattern of a supersonic jet impinging onto a rectangular duct which deflects the vertical jet horizontally. Of particular interest are the flow structure in the jet exhaust area, pressure pattern and the magnitude of pressure force at the bottom wall. Usefulness of present characteristic boundary condition applied at the exiting plane of the duct is demonstrated by capturing such complex flow structures for different lengths of the deflection duct.

2-방정식 및 레이놀즈 응력 모형을 이용한 초음속 난류 기저유동의 수치적 계산 (Computation of supersonic turbulent base flow using two-equation and Reynolds stress models)

  • The performance of several turbulence models in computing an axisymmetric supersonic base flow is investigated. A compressible Navier-Stokes code, which incorporates k-ε, k-ω model and Reynolds stress closure with three kinds of pressure-strain correlation model, has been developed using implicit LU-SGS algorithm with second-order upwind TVD scheme. Numerical computations have been carried out for Herrin and Dutton's base flow. It is observed that the two-equation models give large backward axial velocity approaching to the base and somewhat larger variation of base pressure distribution than the Reynolds stress model. It is also found that the Reynolds stress model with third order pressure-strain model in the anisotropy tensor predicts most accurate mean flow field.

  • The standard drag force and virtual mass force, which exert to the primary flow direction, are generally considered in two-phase analysis computational codes. In this paper, the lift force, wall lubrication force, and turbulent dispersion force including turbulence models, which are essential for a computational multi-fluid dynamics model and play an important role in motion perpendicular to the primary flow direction, were introduced and verified with conceptual problems.

  • This study is to develop a practical calculation method of hydrodynamic force and motion response on very large floating structures of multiple legs. To investigate the effecr of hydrodynamic interfaction and of free surface on the reaponses of very large floating structures in regular waves, four kind of models are considered, ie. 1, 4, 64, 21248 column with footing. Based upon the results of this study, it is found that the middle parts of very large floating structures have small diffration effects. Therefore only out side parts are used to determine the hydrodynamic forcea for taking into account the effects of interaction.

  • From the Boltzmann equation with BGK approximation, a gas-kinetic BGK scheme is developed and methods for its efficient calculation, using the convergence acceleration techniques, are presented in a framework of an implicit time integration. The characteristics of the original gas-kinetic BGK scheme are improved in order for the accurate calculation of viscous and heat convection problems by considering Osher's linear subpath solutions and Prandtl number correction. Present scheme applied to various numerical tests reveals a high level of accuracy and robustness and shows advantages over flux vector splittings and Riemann solver approaches from Euler equations.

전산 유체 해법의 엔진 설계 응용 연구의 최근 동향 (Recent trends in applied researches of CFD for a new engine design)

  • 전산유체 해법의 내연기관 3차원 해석에 대한 최근 연구 동향에 대해 소개하였다. 난류유동 해석은 아직 정확성과 신뢰도 면에서 많은 연구가 필요하지만 현재의 상태에서도 직관, 경험, 실험 측정에 의해 파악하기 어렵거나 많은 비용과 시간이 요구되는 부분을 보완해 줄 수 있는 도구로서 인정받고 있다. 연소해석 부분은 현상 자체가 유동, 연소, 분무, 열전달등이 복합적으로 작용하는 어려운 문제로서 공학계산의 가장 첨단 분야 중의 하나라 할 수 있다. 현재 관련 모델로서 스파크 점화기관의 점화 및 화염전파, 배기가스 생성 과정과 디젤기관의 압축착화, 예혼합 및 확산 연소, 매연 등의 생성과정에 대한 모델 개발과 검증이 활발히 이루어지고 있다. 일부 발표된 논문 결과들은 이와 같은 방법이 엔진의 주요 연소 특성을 재현하는데에 성공적으로 활용될 수 있음을 보여주고 있다.

  • This paper compared with the hydrodynamic interference acting on the semi-submersible element model with 1-lowerhull and 2-columns. In this case, calculation are applying the strip method and 3-dimensional source distribution method. As the wave frequency and the distance between increase, the influence effects of parts upon each other decrease and approach the results calculated by using the strip method. Thus, it can be prepared for the investigation of new practical method of investigation of new practical method of hydrodynamic forces acting on huge structures.

선수 타 주위 유동의 수치적 해석 (Numerical Analysis of Flow around Bow Rudder)

  • 본 연구는 선박의 조종성능에 직접 영향을 미치는 방향타의 양력, 항력 및 모멘트를 전산유체역학을 이용하여 연구하였다. 힘과 모멘트에 영향을 미치는 전형적인 선박 방향타 중 하나는 바다에서 조종하는 동안 선수 타이다. 따라서 선박 선수타에 대한 힘과 모멘트를 연구하였다. IFS 선수 타 시리즈 중 균형 IFS 54 BR 15는 연구에 사용되었다. 난류 모델로는 표준 k-epsilon이 연구에 적용되었다. 선수 타의 유체 역학, 특히 양력, 항력 및 모멘트 계수는 서로 다른 공격 각도에 대해 계산되었다. 본 연구에 사용된 유동과 선수 타 사이의 받침각은 0도에서 5도 간격씩 35도까지 총 6개이다. 선박의 운동 성능에 미치는 영향에 대한 계산 결과는 이전 실험 연구 결과와 비교되었다.
