  • In this paper, an stepped-impedance low pass filter(SI-LPF) of triangular-patch type is proposed. A SI-LPF designed according to the standard SI-LPF design procedure is folded as a right angled triangle. The figure of merits of this structure are the adjustabilities of the cut off frequency, the stopband and the attenuation pole frequency of the proposed LPF by varying the resultant slots after folding the SI-LPF compactly for miniaturization. The size of the fabricated LPF is $13.75mm{\times}6.875mm$, which is 24.4 % reduced one compared to that of the conventional SI-LPF. The measured results of the LPF show return loss of less than -10 dB at passband, insertion loss of less than -10 dB at stopband and wide stopband from 3.5 GHz to 10 GHz (about $3f_c$).

  • This paper describes a numerical study of three-dimensional buoyant turbulent flow in a stairwell model with three convective differencing schemes, which include the upwind differencing scheme, the hybrid scheme and QUICK scheme. The Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes and energy equations are solved with a two-equation turbulence model. The Boussinesq approximation is used to model buoyancy terms in the governing equations. Three-dimensional predictions of the velocity and temperature fields are presented and are compared with experimental data. Three-dimensional simulations with each scheme have predicted the overall features of the flow fairly satisfactorily. A better agreement with experimental is achieved with QUICK scheme.

  • This study aims to analyze citizen's preference of rail station lifts(stairs & Escalation) and estimate the user benefit of Escalation, Also it includes how high is the height of the entrance ramp when citizens want to set up an escalator. 89 percent of subway users prefer escalators and said escalators are needed for stairs higher than the double-deck stairs. Especially It is higher for the age older than 30 and woman. Therefore, personnel characteristics and facility characteristics should be considered in relation to escalator installation. Based on the multiple logistic model, WTP(Willing to pay) was estimated at 34.37 won in a survey conducted to estimate practical user benefit(physical side) of escalator.

  • A numerical study has been carried out for two- and three-dimensional buoyant turbulent flow in a stairwell model. The Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes and energy equations are solved with the authors'own computer program. Two models by the Boussinesq approximation and the density-gradient form are used for buoyancy terms in the governing equations. Two- and three-dimensional predictions of the velocity and temperature fields are presented and the results are compared with experimental data. Comparisons have also been made in detail with two-dimensional predictions. Two-dimensional and three-dimensional simulations have predicted the overall features of the flow satisfactorily. A better agreement with experiment is achieved with three-dimensional simulations.

  • The conflict of opposing pedestrian traffic-flow in a subway station(made up of stair, passageway, and escalator) diminishes the convenience and mobility of its users. In addition, the station's efficiency would be negatively affected by the growth of delay and queue length in pedestrian facilities. As these phenomena have been resulted by the overlapping in pedestrian's traffic-line, the separation of it would alleviate these problems. For the criteria and methodology of separation, this paper has investigated the bi-directional queue length and delay on the entrance of each facility (stair, passageway and escalator). Since the pedestrian flow exists bidirectionally, we have used the weighted average by inflow rate for the delay value. For the optimization of the separation, the Genetic Algorithm has been utilized in order to minimize the delay.

  • In this paper, dual-band bandpass filter by using Pseudo-Interdigital Stepped-Impedance Resonator(PI-SIR) and Open-Loop Ring Resonator(OLRR) is proposed. The first passband and second passband are formed by PI-SIR and the second passband is reinforced by an OLRR. In a PI-SIR the first band and second band are easily and exactly adjusted by characteristic impedance ratio and electrical length ratio. The proposed design method may be confirmed to be useful from fabricated and measured results for dual-band bandpass filter operated at 2.45 GHz and 5.8 GHz.

  • The numerical analyses for three different shafts in geometry of high buildings were carried out by using computational fluid dynamics model (FDS ver.5.3) for the calculation of the pressure difference and the location of the neutral plane and the visualization of stack effect. At 10 seconds of stack effect, the pressure difference of stack effect in the elevator shaft (79.3 Pa) almost corresponded to the theoretical value (78 Pa). At 300 seconds of stack effect, all the neutral planes of three cases were located about 49 m above floor, where was 5 m higher than the theoretical value. The maximum pressure difference between upper and lower position of shaft decreased with increasing of the geometrical complexity of shaft. This study showed that there was the difference of the stack effects among the geometries of shafts with the visualization of stack effect.
