  • This study was conducted to confirm the effect of noise generated by military training on the life satisfaction of residents living near military facilities. In 2017, an interview survey was conducted on 904 adult residents living near military facilities. The life satisfaction score of the survey subjects was analyzed to be 3.17 out of a total of 5 points, which was confirmed to be lower than that of previous studies on adults. Factors influencing the life satisfaction of residents around military facilities were analyzed. Life satisfaction as dependent variables, demographic factors and physical damage experience factors, and mental damage experience factors were selected as independent variables. As a result of regression analysis, it was analyzed that monthly average household income (coef.=0.09, p<0.001), emotional anxiety (coef.=-0.34, p<0.001), and stress (coef.=-0.05, p<0.001) affected life satisfaction. This study is expected to be used as basic data for establishing policies to improve the life satisfaction of residents living in areas around military facilities.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine implicit associations of negative emotion (i.e. anxiety and depression) and self among a college students having experienced posttraumatic stress symptoms. The participants were 61 college students(male 16, female 45). They were classified into two groups, trauma group(n=35) and control group(n=26) according to scores of Korean version of Impact of Events Scale-Revised. Two groups were compared with regard to automatic self-anxious and self-depressive associations measured with the Implicit Association Test using both words and facial expression pictures, respectively. As results, trauma group showed more enhanced self-anxious association in the words conditions, and stronger self-anxious and self-depressive associations in the pictures conditions than control group, whereas there were no significant differences between two groups in explicit cognition and depression. These results suggest that traumatic experiences could influence self-concepts in the automatic process. Limitations of the current study and suggestions for future research were discussed.

  • Purpose: A dance exercise program was performed to investigate the effects of exercise on exercise intention and exercise-related affect as these are important determinants of exercise behavior. Method: The subjects were overweight (23$\leq$BMI<25) or obese (BMI$\geq$25) postmenopausal women (n=14), who participated in an exercise program from May, 2003 through November, 2003 at one public health center located in Kyong-gi Province. Data was analyzed with an SAS PC program. Result: Exercise intention was significantly increased after the exercise program (t=-2.24, P=0.04). Exercise-related affect was also increased, but there was no statistically significant change (t=1.81, P=0.09). Conclusion: This study suggests that exercise participation can increase the level of future exercise behavior by increasing exercise intention and exercise-related affect.

  • The ultimate purpose of psychotherapy is to identify covert causes of a psychological problem and then to modify and change the causes. The goal of this study is also to make contribution to SNS addiction intervention program development through exploring the covert causes of SNS addiction which recently became social issue. Previous research identified such overt causes of SNS addiction as maladaptive self-concept (e.g., low self-esteem), maladaptive personality (e.g., strong narcissism) and strong negative emotions (e.g., high level of anxiety). Based on previous research, the study explored early maladaptive schema (i.e., cognitive dimension) and emotion dysregulation (i.e., emotional dimension) as the covert causes of SNS addiction and conceptually developed psychological maladaptive mechanism of 'early maladaptive schema ${\rightarrow}$ emotion dysregulation ${\rightarrow}$ SNS addiction.' As a result of a survey with respondents in their 20's who are at high risk for SNS addiction, the mechanism was confirmed for females. However, a significant relationship of 'early maladaptive schema ${\rightarrow}$ SNS addiction' was found for males. The findings offer an implication that interventions of early maladaptive schema for males and females in their 20's and interventions of emotion dysregulation for females in their 20's can fundamentally help cure their SNS addiction.

  • The study aims at verifying the effects of private donors' emotional or demonstrable utility on their mental health with the mediation effect of self-acceptance and the moderation effect of the gratitude for their lives. As a result of causal analysis of the variables by structural equation models, the notable findings are as follows: First, among the group of private donors with increased gratitude for their lives through sponsorship, while emotional utility from donative activity has a positive effect on donor's mental health, demonstrable utility does not have it. The indirect effect of self-acceptance is proved between emotional or demonstrable utilities and mental health. Second, among the donors without increased the gratitude, emotional utility has direct effect on donor's metal health but demonstrable utility does not affect the metal health. While the self-acceptance shows a full mediation effect between demonstrable utility and mental health, emotional utility has no mediation effect. In conclusion, the moderating effect of the gratitude for their lives is empirically proved and the donors who their gratitude for life has increased due to donative activity show better metal health, self-acceptance level, higher emotional and demonstrable utility, therefore, the gratitude for life is a key for metal health through donation.

  • The purpose of this study is to identify how education and activities of urban forest healing programs affect emotional rest (healing recovery environment awareness, restoration of attention, and leisure life satisfaction). To this end, 38 people were divided into experimental groups (forest healing program education and practice), and control groups (non-program participation). As a result of the study, in the case of the experimental group, emotional rest factors such as healing recovery environment perception, attention recovery, and satisfaction with leisure activities after the program were statistically significantly improved, and in the case of the control group, there was no change in emotional rest after the program. In addition, there were differences between groups in both pre and post regarding the difference in emotional rest between the participant groups, and the difference in emotional rest afterwards was much larger than the pre-difference. In conclusion, people who receive regular education on forest healing and have done actual forest healing activities experience higher emotional rest than those who do not. This suggests that continuous motivation and regular practice can raise awareness of the healing recovery environment, promote attention recovery, and have a positive effect on leisure life through appropriate programs rather than simply taking a walk.

Subjects were enrolled in the fifth, sixth, 1st, & 2nd grades of elementary and junior high schools. The instruments were Teenage Inventory of Social Skills, Perceived Social Support from Family & Friends, Child Depression Inventory, and Antisocial Behavior Scale. Results indicated that there were positive relations between social skills and social support from family and friends. The more social support from family children and adolescents had, the less depression and antisocial behavior they reported. For depression, children and adolescents showed a significant sex difference. In the case of antisocial behavior, only adolescents revealed a significant sex difference. Depression was explained by social support from family most for both children and adolescents. Antisocial behavior was explained by social skills most especially for children. The results discussed in the context of the effects of social skills and social support on emotional and behavioral adjustments.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of father's family-of-origin experiences on parenting attitude and parenting participation around mediating effects of value of children. To this end, this study investigated family-of-origin experience, value of children, parenting attitude, and degree of parenting participation on 247 fathers of 3~5 year old children. Descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, regression analysis, and Sobel Test were conducted using SPSS 21 program on the collected data. According to the research result, there was a significantly positive relationship between emotional value of children, parenting attitude, and parenting participation among family-of-origin experience and value of children. This study conducted a regression analysis and Sobel Test by stage to identify mediating effects. As a result, it was identified that father's family-of-origin experience makes positive effect on parenting attitude and parenting participation, and emotional value of children among value of children mediates their relationship. Based on the findings, this study suggested that multilateral consideration and systematic system for formation of positive value of children are needed and suggested the direction of follow-up study on fathers as a coparent.
