Application of IPS model of city competitiveness to Korean cities, and strategies to enhance Chuncheon city's competitiveness (IPS 도시경쟁력 평가 모델과 한국 도시의 경쟁력 평가 결과, 그리고 춘천시의 경쟁력 향상 전략)

  • With the main player of international competition being changed from country to region/city, city competitiveness is emerging as driving forces of industrial and national competitiveness and organizations formed on a city level are regarded as the main unit of competition among nations. This paper's goal is to research upon the city competitiveness with an emphasis on the analytical tool applying IPS Model of city competitiveness to 75 Korean cities and to map out the strategies to enhance the Chuncheon city's competitiveness based on the results of the evaluation on Chuncheon city's current and future competitiveness with focus on the impact of the city's hosting World Leisure Congress and World Leisure Games in 2010. By discussing city's future competitiveness as well as its current strength at the same time, the more comprehensive perspective required in reinforcing city competitiveness is proposed in this paper and issues related to a city's context and policy can be evaluated and their solutions can be sought after. The study can also contribute to the establishment of city's development policies and detect sustainable growth power for individual cities.

특허지표를 활용한 녹색기술 국가경쟁력 분석 - 위상기반 특허 경쟁력 지표의 개발 및 적용 -

  • 본 연구에서는 주요국에 대한 녹색기술 경쟁력을 살펴보기 위해 특허 인용 네트워크 위상 기반 핵심 특허 지표를 제안하고, 이를 활용하여 핵심 기술 경쟁력 지수를 구축하였으며, 유럽 특허청에 출원된 녹색 기술 특허 정보를 활용하여 녹색기술 특허 출원 상위 20개국에 대한 기술경쟁력을 측정하였다. 분석 결과 일본, 미국, 독일, 프랑스가 녹색기술 전반에 걸쳐 많은 특허를 출원하고 있는 것으로 나타났는데, 기술경쟁력을 측정 결과는 전반적으로 기술분야별 특허 출원 건수 측면에서 높은 순위에 위치하였던 일본, 독일, 미국의 경쟁력이 높게 나타나고 있는 가운데, 영향력과 위상적 핵심성에서 상대적으로 높은 평가를 받은 스페인, 핀란드 등의 국가들이 상위에 위치하고, 상대적으로 낮은 평가를 받은 미국 및 프랑스의 경우에는 낮은 순위에 위치하는 것을 확인할 수 있다. 우리나라는 E(배출가스저감기술) 분야에서 3위, G(배출가스저감기술) 분야에서 4위에 위치하여 높은 경쟁력을 보이고 있으며, C(배출완화 연소기술) 분야 및 D(기후변화완화기술) 분야에서는 각각 7위와 8위의 기술경쟁력 수준을 갖고 있는 반면, A(환경관리기술) 분야, B(신재생에너지기술) 분야, F(배출가스 저감 및 고효율화 교통기술) 분야에서는 낮은 경쟁력을 갖고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 실증 분석에 활용한 유럽 특허청에 출원된 특허 정보의 한계로 인해 일부 국가들의 기술경쟁력 측정에 있어서 편의가 나타날 우려가 발견되었는데, 향후 삼극특허 정보 등을 활용하는 방식으로 이러한 문제점을 보완하면 보다 정확한 기술경쟁력 측정이 가능하리라 예상한다.

  • 본 고에서는 실태조사를 통해 국내 홈네트워크 산업의 시장 및 수출 현황을 분석하였으며, 아울러 홈네트워크 장비산업의 경쟁력을 평가하였다. 2005년도에 국내 홈네트워크 산업의 시장규모는 전년도인 2004년도의 7,104억 원에 비해 53.3% 증가한 1조891억원에 달한 것으로 나타났다. 이중에서 홈네트워크 장비시장이 87%인 9,4701억원에 달했으며, 홈네트워크 서비스시장은 13%인 1,421억 원으로 나타났다. 수급 현황 분석결과 국내 홈네트워크산업은 아직 기대에 비해 본격적인 성장단계에 접어들지 못한 것으로 보인다. 한편 국내 통신장비산업의 경쟁력 또한 4개 장비분야 모두가 경쟁력이100점 만점 기준에 60점대에 머무는 것으로 평가되어 선진기업에 비해 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 특히 브랜드경쟁력과 유통경쟁력이 공통적으로 현저하게 낮은 것으로 나타나 기술개발뿐만 아니라 마케팅 역량 향상을 위한 업계 자체의 노력 및 정부 차원의 지원이 시급한 것으로 나타났다.

A Study on the Evaluation of Competitiveness and Economic Feasibility of Ship Repair Industry in Korea (우리나라 수리조선의 경쟁력 및 경제성 평가에 관한 연구)

  • This study analyses the necessity of the large-size shipyard and explores competitiveness factors of it. Furthermore, the competitiveness is evaluated and the economic feasibility of building and operation of shipyard is examined. As a result of AHP analysis of the determining factors of the competitiveness of the repairing shipyard, the importance of the factors was found in the order of arrival and departure safety, repair technology, dock and wharf facilities, repair cost, repair period (on time delivery), and repair parts supply. Moving distance, repair service quality, repair parts supply, arrival and departure safety, repair technology, dock and quay wall facilities, and repair period (on time delivery) were identified as key factors in the AHP analysis for competitiveness of the Busan Port repair shipyard to be built in the future. As a result of the analysing economic feasibility, the net present value of the Busan Port repair shipyard construction and operation investment project was KRW 435.6 billion, and the internal rate of return was 9.8%, higher than the social discount rate (4.5%), and the cost-benefit ratio (B/C) was high at 1.167. As a result of the study, the necessity and economic feasibility of the Busan Port repair shipyard are sufficiently ensured, and the competitiveness assessment was highly positive.

Evaluation Factor and Enhancement of Gwangyang International Port's Competitiveness (광양항의 경쟁력 평가요인과 강화전략)

  • This study aims to evaluate the factors which affect the competitiveness of Gwangyang port, and to suggest strategies for the enhancement of its competitiveness by priority. This study inquires both 5 key rating factors: port location, port operations management, port costs, port facilities, and hinterland conditions and the priority of 14 detailed assessments through AHP method. First, the importances of main evaluation items for port competitiveness are analysed in the following orders: port location, port facilities, port costs, port operations, hinterland conditions. Second, the comprehensive importances based on the detailed evaluation properties complex weighting are identified in the following orders: connectivity with hinterland, accessibility of international harbor, incentives, the area of terminal, expertise and skills of port operations personnel, container throughput, and scale berths. Third, the strategies referring to the port location like centrality, transit, and merit on use should be actively conducted for the promotions of Gwangyang port's competitiveness, according to its international port competitiveness analysis. This study will provide both academic and policy implications with its related scholars, government, and research institutions. In addition, this will be contributed to formulating a basic theory for port competitiveness evaluation and providing a basic framework of evaluation analysis.

  • This study was conducted to propose the way to develop and strengthen competitiveness of the Korean paper industry by analysing current competitiveness and the factors which determine and influence it. Delphi method was employed to identify determining factors of international competitiveness of Korean paper industry and evaluate the level of competitiveness. The competitiveness both in the domestic and foreign markets was evaluated by analysing each product market faced by the Korean paper industry in light of each of the determining factors. Based on the Delphi survey results, in order of importance, product quality, manufacturing cost, transportation and storage, timely delivery, supply of raw materials, and marketing were identified as the factors determining international competitiveness. Among them, it was revealed that Korean paper industry has a certain level of competitiveness in the factors such as product quality and timely delivery service while supply of raw materials and manufacturing costs were found to be inferior to overseas manufacturers in both domestic and foreign markets.

Nowadays the central and local government make various policies which help to raise modal sp)it of public transportation. To understand previous public transportation Policies and make more efficient policies, it is important to know the current level of public transportation exactly. The main aim of this study is assess the competitiveness of public transportation in world major cities We select assessment indexes and have grouping use factor analysis. Then we have 8 clusters of cities by cluster analysis, Also, we analyze the relationship between public transportation characteristics and modal split.

  • This research has been carried out for assessing the competitiveness of the major Asian airports based on the quality of service provision. Five airports were selected for evaluation: Hong Kong, Singapore Changi, Tokyo Narita, Bangkok Don Muang, and Seoul Incheon International Airport. For evaluation of these selected airports, AHP and IPA techniques were applied. Five main factors were defined through a literature review of previous studies: concreteness, convenience, economic efficiency, respondency, and accessability. Hong Kong International Airport had the strongest airport in the Asian region, followed by Incheon International Airport. The least competitive airports were Bangkok and Tokyo Narita International Airport in regards to users' perception for the provision of services at the airport.

  • The size of Vietnam's construction market has been on a steady rise recently, and foreign construction companies such as China and Japan have been expanding their presence. Therefore, this study examined the design capabilities, construction capabilities, and construction project management capabilities of Korean, Chinese, and Japanese construction companies operating in Vietnam and local construction companies operating in Vietnam. As a result, it was found that Japan, Korea, China, and Vietnam were competitive in order. In particular, Korea's competitiveness in high-rise buildings and plants has been shown to be highly competitive in Vietnam. Based on these results, the government proposed measures to strengthen the competitiveness of Korean construction companies in Vietnam.
