  • In this parer, curve stopping function based on the CT number of lung parenchyma from CT lung images is proposed to detect lung region in replacement of conventional edge indication function in geodesic active contour model. We showed that the proposed method was able to detect lung region more effectively than conventional method by applying three kinds of measurement numerically. And, we verified the effectiveness of proposed method visually by observing the detection Procedure on actual CT images. Because lung parenchyma region could be precisely detected from actual EBCT (electron beam computer tomography) lung images, we were sure that the Proposed method could aid to early diagnosis of lung disease and local abnormality of function.

  • This thesis deals with a method to solve a two-and-one-half-dimensional ($2\frac12$ D) problem, which means that the ocean environment is two-dimensional whereas the source is fully three-dimensionally propagating, including three-dimensional refraction phenomena and three-dimensional back-scattering, using two-dimensional two-way parabolic equation method combined with Fourier synthesis. Two dimensional two-way parabolic equation method uses Galerkin's method for depth and Crank-Nicolson method and alternating direction for range and provides a solution available to range-dependent problem with wave-field back-scattered from discontinuous interface. Since wavenumber, k, is the function of depth and vertical or horizontal range, we can reduce a dimension of three-dimensional Helmholtz equation by Fourier transforming in the range direction. Thus transformed two-dimensional Helmholtz equation is solved through two-way parabolic equation method. Finally, we can have the $2\frac12$ D solution by inverse Fourier transformation of the spectral solution gained from in the last step. Numerical simulation has been carried out for a canonical ocean environment with stair-step bottom in order to test its accuracy using the present analysis. With this spectral parabolic equation method, we have examined three-dimensional acoustic propagation properties in a specified site in the Korean Straits.

  • Sound propagation in shallow water changes from spherical spreading to cylindrical spreading, depending on boundary conditions, and this point is defined as a transition point of the sound propagation condition. Theoretically, the transition point can be estimated using the transmission loss as a function of source-receiver range. In this paper, the transmission loss curve in a Pekeris waveguide is predicted using a parabolic-equation based acoustic propagation model and using this transmission loss curve, the range from the source of the transition point is estimated, which is compared to the critical distance calculated using the sound speed ratio of water to sediment. In addition, the effects of the sound speed profile and source depth change on the transition point are investigated. Finally, the transition point is estimated using the transmission loss data measured during the period of the SAVEX15 (Shallow Water Acoustic Variability EXperiment 2015) conducted 65 km southwest of Jeju Island in May 2015, and it is compared to the ocean environmental parameters to understand the properties of sound propagation in the experimental area.

  • Analog communication systems using AM, FM modem have been developed. Digital communication systems using digital modems, which is by expansion of digital hardware skill have been recently developed. In order to accomplish a reliable communication it is important to overcome ocean environmental channel characteristics such as transmission loss, ambient noise and multipath effect etc. Specially, the effect of multipath is the most important element that determines the performance of underwater communication system in shallow water. Multipath channel can be divided a vertical and horizontal channel. the former is defined the channel to have large path-delay times between a direct wave and reflected waves. The latter shows relatively small path-delay times between a direct and reflected waves in compared with a vertical channel. In this paper, The performance of FSK, PSK and DPSK modem with respect to the vertical and horizontal multipath communication channels it described and compared.

  • Many previous researches on the premixed flame in a tube have treated the unsteady flame behaviors in which the shape, position and intensity of the flame varied, but more detail and fundamental research has been necessary. The flame stabilization condition in a tube, a unique steady state, and the unsteady behaviors, using the stabilization condition as an initial condition, were carried out in recent years. In this paper, propane-air premixed flame was stabilized in a tube and the flame behavior was observed when the mean velocity variation was imposed into the opposite direction of the initial mean velocity. The velocity variation is larger than the burning velocity and longer than the reaction time scale. During the period of the velocity variation flame is not extinguished. But after the period of the mean velocity variation the flame could be re-stabilized or be extinguished depending on the experimental conditions: equivalence ratio, period of velocity variation and magnitude of velocity variation. The extinction mechanisms were classified into the two cases, one is caused by the flame stretch in the shear layer near the wall, and the other is caused by the vortices and vortexes, which are generted by the acoustic waves.

  • On the stability of the Beck's column with a tip mass, the influence of the characteristics of the springs at the fixed end of the column are studied. The equations of motion and boundary conditions of this system are established by using the Hamiton's principle. On the evaluation of the stability of the column, t he effect of the shear deformation and rotatory inertial is considered in calculation. For the maintenance of the stability of the column, it is proved that the constant of the translational spring at the fixed end must be very large while th magnitude of the constant of the rotational spring at the fixed end has no effect. When the constants of the springs at the fixed end are small, it is also proved that the influence of the moment of inertial of the tip mass on the stability of the column are decreased and for the translational spring the degree of the decrease is more and more. Therefore it is found that the characteristics of the springs at the fixed end are very effective elements for the stability of the column when the columns subjected to a compressive follower force are designed.

  • Artificial injection of surplus surface water during wet seasons and recovery is one of possible solutions for conjunctive uses of surface water and groundwater. The methodology is especially attractive for regions of monsoon type weather. In this work a simulation-optimization model is developed to identify an optimal injection system to sustain an over-exploiting freshwater pumping well. The injection well is to be operated during wet seasons only while the pumping well is to be operated throughout an entire year. The objective function is the minimization of injected volume of freshwater. Saltwater intrusion and dry wells are considered as constraints. An example application is made on a small hypothetical island with poor hydrogeologic conditions. The optimization model is successful in determining optimal injection locations and rates for various cases.

  • Recently construction industry has faced new era as following the advances of IT technology. It becomes possible that information and knowledge among people are exchanged actively thanks to computer-based tools. In fact, the tools, PMIS(Project Management Information System) and KMS(Knowledge Management System) already have been introduced to constuction industry successfully. Lately IETM(Interactive Electronic Technical Manual) is tried to be one of these systems. This trying is being enlarged that the IETM's concept is changed to administrative and legal process provider throughout the lifespan of construction projects. However, it is hard to define construction IETM in mega-scale project like urban regeneration project because construction projects are complex and have diverse stakeholders. These properties may make the IETM ambiguous system. To do define IETM as a administrative and legal process provider, this research will conduct survey and interview, then analyze its own properties and find out design strategies. Based on the properties and strategies, suggesting IETM's system demands and architecture of urban regeneration processes.

  • The Color shift phenomenon is becoming a major degradation factor of the emitting color purity in the organic emitting diodes which is generating a plurality of colors. In this study, the basic structure of organic light emitting diode device is comprised of ITO/${\alpha}$-NPD/$Alq_3$:DCJTB[wt%]/$Alq_3$/Mg:Ag, we have carry out numerical simulation of the electric-optical characteristics in organic light emitting diode device to estimate the mechanism of color shift phenomenon. We have investigated the causes of the color shift through the change of DCJTB doping concentration ratio. As the result, we have confirmed that the changes of the recombination rate which generated by trapped electrons and holes is one of the major factors for the color shift phenomenon.
