The Effect of an Enhancing Program for Variable Control Abilities Applied to the Science Education in Middle School (중학교 과학교육에서 변인통제 능력 향상 프로그램 적용 효과)

  • In this study, we develop 15 learning programs to enhance the variable identification and control abilities for the middle school students and analyze the effect of the programs applied to the class. To increase the learning effect of the variable identification and control abilities, we design the programs so that the students can monitor their thinking processes and also they can evaluate the results from their cognitive activities objectively. We analyze the effect of the programs applied to the class and the results show that the test group, which uses the program, marks higher scores in the variable identification abilities compared to the control group. Also, the test group has the increased level of logic to control the variables. Especially, the effect is higher with the students who do not have any logic to control the variables. From the results, we know that it is possible to improve the variable identification and control abilities of the students through the meta-cognitive learning programs developed by us. Furthermore, the results show that the score of variable control abilities positively correlate with that of meta-cognitive level. It means that the meta-cognitive strategy meaningfully increases the variable control abilities of middle school students.

  • The purposes of this study are to test the learning effects of CAI in relation to the learner's locus of control and to test the interactive effects between learner's locus of control and types of learning control. In order to achieve the above purpose, a test was administered to investigate learner's locus of control to 160 First grades of J middle school located in Yosu. On the basis of the test results, the subjects who belonged to the extreme of both pole were divided into the internal and external control groups. Both groups were randomly assigned to teacher-control and learner-control types in CAI. After class, post-test on learning achievement was administered and ANOVA was employed to analyze the data. The research findings are as follows. First, as a result of learning through CAI, the learning scores of internals were shown higher than that of the external group. Second, learner-control group showed higher learning scores than teacher-control group. Third, there was not found a significant interactive effect between learner's locus of control and types of learning control of CAI.

  • This study empirically examined the effect of ownership on cross-border acquisition performance. This study analyzed 284 international acquisitions undertaken by Korean public companies between 1986 and 2008. This study showed that the ownership had a negative impact on cross-border acquisition performance. Furthermore, this study found that the interaction between the ownership and cultural distance had a negative impact on cross-border acquisition performance. This study also showed support that the interaction between the ownership and acquisition relatedness had a negative impact on cross-border acquisition performance. This study improved the understanding of roles of the ownership and complemented previous research on the relationship among cultural distance, acquisition relatedness, and cross-border acquisition performance.

The Influences of Perceived Locus of Control to Patients with Pain (지각된 통제소재 (Locus of Control)가 통증환자의 심리상태에 미치는 영향)

  • Objectives: Cognitive-behavioral scientists have long been interested in how a pain patient's cognition such as locus of control relates to coping and adjustment. The present study examined the relationship of locus of control orientation to pain coping strategies, psychological distress and perceived pain intensity of patients with pain. Methods : Subjects were 96 patients with pain who visited pain clinic. All patients were administered the Multidimensional Health Locus of Control Scales, the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory, the Coping Strategies Questionnaire, and rating for perceived pain intensity, distress, and duration. Results : Correlational analysis revealed that patients who viewed outcomes as controlled by internality tended to have better ability to control and decrease pain. Also they tended to be less depressed and anxious. Regression analysis indicated that patients having a internal locus of control were more likely to use coping self-statement and reinterpreting pain sensation. Powerful others and chance locus of control orientation were predicted reliance on catastrophizing. Conclusion : The clinical implication of the present study is that cognitive factors of patients with pain such as locus of control influence emotional distress and coping. this study show that these factors should be applied to cognitive behavioral therapeutic intervention.

Analysis of the Ability to Infer the Effects of Variables and Variable-Controlling Strategy in Middle School Students who experienced 'Thinking Science' Activities ('생각하는 과학' 활동을 경험한 중학생들의 변인 통제 전략과 변인의 효과를 추론하는 능력에 대한 분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze variable-controlling strategy (below vcs) and the ability to infer the effect of variables in Middle school students who experienced 'Thinking Science' activities in a CASE program. For this study, 71 9th grade students experienced in CASE program for 2 years were selected as the experimental group and 72 students were selected as the control group. All students were tested with Science Reasoning TaskVII. The five types of variable-controlling strategy were extracted from students' response. According to the result of this study, the students experienced in CASE program was more successful in the variable-controlling strategy of length, quality, and shape than the control group. The types of reasoning ability of the variable effect intuitively were categorized as possibility of reasoning, impossibility of reasoning, and impossibility of reversible thinking. It has shown that the reasoning ability of the experimental group was higher than that of the control group in the length and thickness variable effect. The results of this study implied that the variable controlling activities in CASE program could be effective for learning variable controlling, and eventually, for the development of reasoning ability of the variable controlling effect. In the ability to infer the effects of variables to get difficult Intuitively, both groups were similar to the rate of cognitive level reached to the formal operation in generalization, and the student of experimental group was 1.5 times faster than the control group.

  • This study purported to investigate the possibility of automatic descriptor assignment using the reclassification of author keywords in domestic scholarly databases. In the first stage, we selected optimal classifiers and parameters for the reclassification by comparing the characteristics of machine learning classifiers. In the next stage, learning the author keywords that were assigned to the selected articles on readings, the author keywords were automatically added to another set of relevant articles. We examined whether the author keyword reclassifications had the effect of vocabulary control just as descriptors collocate the documents on the same topic. The results showed the author keyword reclassification had the capability of the automatic descriptor assignment.

Influence of Psychological Well-being on Highschool Student's Emotional intelligence and Interior-Exterior Control (고등학생의 심리적 안녕감이 정서지능과 내외통제성에 미치는 영향)

  • 본 연구는 고등학생의 심리적 안녕감이 일상생활을 함에 있어서 대표적인 적응 지표로서 기능하는 정서지능과 어떠한 관련성이 있는지 알아보고, 또한 심리적 안녕감이 고등학생들의 내외통제성에는 어떠한 관련성이 있는지 살펴보는데 목적이 있다. 본 연구는 제주시 고등학교 학생 402명을 대상으로 하였다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 심리적 안녕감과 정서지능과는 상관관계를 나타냈다. 둘째, 심리적 안녕감과 내외통제성과는 상관관계를 나타냈다. 셋째, 심리적 안녕감이 정서지능에 긍정적 영향을 미치고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, 심리적 안녕감이 내외통제성에 긍정적 영향을 미치고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구결과로 볼 때, 심리적 안녕감과 정서지능과는 높은 관련성이 있다. 또한 심리적 안녕감이 높을수록 자신의 선택한 결과를 외부의 환경에 두는 것이 아니라 자신의 능력, 노력 등으로 귀인하는 내외통제성과도 관련이 있다. 따라서 고등학생의 정서지능을 함양시키는 프로그램들이 개발되어져야 한다고 사료된다.

Comparison of Control Methods for Estimation Bias in Unmatched Analysis of Matched Data (짝을 이룬 자료분석시 야기되는 Estimation Bias의 Control Methods)

  • 짝짓기 방법은 교란변수를 통제하기 가장 좋은 방법으로 알려져 있으나, 모수추정시 그 계산방법이 복잡하고, 포함된 모든 정보를 이용할 수 없다는 단점을 갖고 있다. 그럼에도 불구하고, conditional 모델을 이용한 matched 분석법은 짝지은 자료 분석시 가장 좋은 방법으로 인정되고 있다. 그러나 명확한 confounding 현상을 통제할 목적이 아닌 상태에서 짝지워진 자료를 matched 분석법으로 모수추정하는 경우나, 올바로 짝지워진 자료를 분석법의 편이성 때문에 unmatched 분석을 시도하는 경우, 오히려 estimation bias가 야기될 수 있다. 이러한 estimation bias의 통제능력을 몇 가지 분석방법을 이용하여 비교하고자, 1:2로 대응된 한 환자-대조군 자료를 이용하여 Mantel-Haenszel 분석법, 두가지의 unconditional model을 이용한 다변량분석법의 결과를 conditional model을 이용한 matched 분석법의 결과와 비교하였다. 1. Matched 분석법의 대용방법으로 사용된 세 가지 방법들은 모수추정면에서나 가설검정능력면에서 차이를 서로 보이지 않았다. 2. 짝짓기에 사용된 변수가 분석자료내에서 confounder나 effect modifier로 작용되지 않았음이 명백한 경우에는 이들 세 가지 통제 방법과 matched 분석법간에 차이가 없었다. 3. 짝짓기에 사용된 변수가 분석자료내에서 effect modifier로 작용하지는 않았으나, Confounder로 작용한 것으로 추정되는 경우, unmatched 분석법으로 인해 야기된 estimation bias의 통제능력이 이들 세 가지 대용방안 모두에서 인정되었다. 4. 짝짓기에 사용된 변수가 분석자료내에서 effect modifier로 작용하고 있음을 직접 확인할 수 있는 경우에는, overmatching에 의한 estimation bias를 의심할 수 있었으며, 이들 세 가지 통제방법은 오히려 unmatched 분석 방법에 가까운 모수를 추정하였다.

  • 본 연구의 목적은 공항 세금 환급시스템의 혁신적 특성과 중국인 탑승객의 개인 통제신념이 수용 의도에 미치는 영향을 규명하고자 하였다. 본 연구는 계획된 행동이 세금환급을 받으려는 의도에 미치는 영향에 대해 이론적으로 고찰하고 분석하였다. 공항에서 세금환급시스템을 이용한 경험이 있는 중국인 탑승객 343명을 대상으로 자료를 수집하였다. 실증 분석 결과, 시스템 혁신적 특성에서 상대적 이점, 적합성 및 복잡성이 높고, 인식된 위험이 낮을수록, 개인 통제신념에서 행동신념, 규범신념 및 통제신념이 높을수록 이용자의 수용의도가 높은 것으로 판명되었다. 이용자 채택 단계에 따른 수용 의도 간의 차이를 분석한 결과, 초기 수용자 집단이 후기 수용자 집단보다 수용 의도가 높은 것으로 나타났다. 이용자의 채택 단계에 따라 수용 의도에 영향을 미치는 요인은 차이가 있었는데, 초기 수용자 집단에서는 시스템 혁신적 특성 중 적합성과 개인 통제신념이 중요한 변수였으며, 후기 수용자 집단에서는 시스템 혁신 특성 중 인식된 위험과 규범신념을 제외한 개인의 통제신념이 중요한 변수로 분석되었다. 따라서 공항 세금 환급시스템에 대한 초기 수용자들에게는 더 많은 확신을 줄 필요가 있으며, 후기 수용자들에게는 지각된 위험을 감소시켜 주어야 할 것이다.

Application of Control Variable with Routing Probability to Queueing Network Simulation (대기행렬 네트워크 시뮬레이션에서 분지확률 통제변수의 응용)

  • This research discusses the application of the control variables to achieve a more precise estimation for the target response in queueing network simulation. The efficiency of control variable method in estimating the response depends upon how we choose a set of control variables strongly correlated with the response and how we construct a function of selected control variables. For a class of queuing network simulations, the random variables that drive the simulation are basically the service-time and routing probability random variables. Most of applications of control variable method focus on utilization of the service time random variables for constructing a controlled estimator. This research attempts to suggest a controlled estimator which uses these two kinds of random variables and explore the efficiency of these estimators in estimating the reponses for computer network system. Simulation experiments on this model show the promising results for application of routing probability control variables. We consider the applications of the routing probability control variables to various simulation models and combined control variables using information of service time and routing probability together in constructing a control variable as future researches.
