In doing the research, 629 high school students in the metropolitan city were surveyed using web. we analyzed the educational gap between schools depending on their economic conditions and analyzed the correlation between education gap and basic information utilization ability. As a result, it was found that there is a very significant negative correlation between the ratio of students who get support for school expenses and basic information utilization ability. Second, regression equation was produced through regression analysis of information literacy regression to analyze the effect of educational gap on basic information literacy. In addition, it seeks to consider alternatives that can improve the inequality of information literacy which is derived from education gap.

  • This study aims to grasp the key issues and the direction for digital divide research in South Korea. Based on the 488 KCI journal articles published between 2003 and 2020, the authors analyzed the changes in the number of articles per year and the subject areas of journals. Furthermore, the topic modelling and keyword network anlaysis were applied to identify the subjects of research. The main findings can be summarized as follows: first, there was a stable trend for a while after the number of articles had increased by the year of 2007, and then there has been a sharp increase since 2019. Second, digital divide research has been conducted from diverse fields including social science, multidiscipline, and engineering. Third, the six subject areas were identified which are 'digital divide among regions', 'digital divide among people with disabilities', 'technical environment of digital divide', 'divide from information use and its consequence', 'legal and institutional environments of digital divide', and 'digital divide of the elderly'. Finally, it was shown that the areas of 'divide from information use and its consequence' and 'technical environment of digital divide' have attracted attention recently.

  • The 'digital divide' is regarded as a latent dysfunction that impedes the intrinsic role of information to contribute to social equality. Therefore, it has drawn great attention inside and outside of academia. The growing interest in the digital divide has been driven by the realization that it can create a serious crisis that threatens a social system compounded by existing economic, social, and cultural inequality, rather than being limited to an uneven distribution of information. In this paper (1) studies on the digital divide published since 1970 are reviewed, (2) studies noteworthy of discussion are selected to assess their academic significance, and (3) the tasks and prospects of digital divide research are explored. Although meaningful achievements have been amassed through continuous interest and efforts of the academic community, two limitations are raised; the gap between pure research and policy research that hinders the working of synthetic imagination, and the intellectual lag falling behind a rapidly changing society. In addition, it is suggested that the operation, curation, and augmentation gaps would emerge as new agenda for digital divide research in the intelligent information age.

  • This paper analyzes the wage structure of college professors in private institutions in Korea. An analysis of earning functions reveals that the human capital of the professors is of more general type rather than firm-specific one. It is also found that the wage differential among colleges is far greater than that within colleges. Finally, the influence of research output or the fields of study on wage is found to be small. This shows that compensation for professors is set largely independent of individual performance or labor market conditions for professors.

  • The use of smart device has changed the traditional meaning of digital divide. It has also bridged the gap between information-haves and have-nots. In contrast, some researchers insist that the dissemination of smart devices has created new digital divide different from traditional divide. In order to clarify the current status of digital divide, this research statistically analyzed correlations between the factors of digital divide and possessions of smart devices based on the survey results conducted by Pew Research Center. It was also statistically demonstrated whether the digital literacy in using smartphones affects the generation of smart divide.

  • This paper analyzes the effects of globalization on growth gaps between regions. Using openness and FDI as measures of globalzation in Korean 16 broad autonomous territories the study estimates the effects of the variables on growth gaps between regions. Estimation results show that FDI is significant in explaining the regional gaps while openness is not. The results of the study reveal that attracting FDI to weaker regions, especially the investment in New Industries, is inevitable to resolve growth gaps and for balanced growth among regions. Also, policy makers should use FDI as an important tool for correcting regional gaps as well as the vehicles for regional development.

  • This study analyzes the trend of the gender wage gap and its sources in the Korean labor market for the years 1985-2004. Following Oaxaca and Ransom (1994), the gender wage gap is composed of the productivity-related gap and non-productivity-related gap (unobserved productivity gap and discrimination). Empirical findings indicate that both the productivity-related gap and non-productivity-related gap have dwindled, while the decline of the former far excelled that of the latter. The non-productivity-related gender wage gap is much larger for married women than for single women, possibly implying a lower unobserved productivity of married women because of their childcare responsibilities. The non-productivity-related gap is also very substantial in the male-dominated occupations as compared to the female=dominated occupations, supporting the existence of network externalities in employment.

  • The european union used the regional policy for a compensation for a economic loss of the underdeveloped member countries and for a conciliation of the new member countries with a geographical enlargement. As a result, the objet of regional policy and the support eligible regions of structural funds increased. According to the central and eastern europe countries entry into the european union, the european union modified the regional policy: the integration of the dispersed objects of regional policy into the 3 objects, the reduction of the support eligible region of structural funds and the promotion of the interregional cohesion policy. The development disparities of the between the member countries converged. But the inter-local development disparities of a intra-member country dispersed. This tendency means that the regional policy of the european union contributed for the reduction of development disparities between the member countries but produced no effect on the diminution of the inter-local disparities of a intra-member country because of the regional differentiation of locational conditions.
