Effects of Game Application Science Learning on a Scientific Attitude of Middle School Students (게임 활용 과학 학습이 중학교 학생들의 과학 태도 변화에 미치는 효과)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of the game application learning 8th graders' scientific attitude, which was utilized as a strategy to improve the teaching skills and methods in the lesson of 'the history of the earth and diastrophism'. The subjects of this study were 120 students of 8th grade at a middle school located in a metropolitan city in Korea. To start off with homogeneity of a group, this study recruited participants by the results of a diagnostic test taken early in the year and a mid-term examination taken at the end of April. As a result, a total of 4 male classes that showed similar results on the two tests were selected and divided into two groups: one in experimental and the other in control. In addition, the top 20% students and the low 20% students were chosen for comparison of their scientific attitudes based on the results of the mid-term examination. The traditional teachings were offered to the control groups while the experimental lessons with the game activities performed at the stages of application and summary in teaching were offered to the experimental groups over 10 periods. Results of the pre- and post-test on the students' scientific attitude demonstrated that there was a statistical significance between the two groups, which suggested that the experimental group showed a meaningful improvement in the scientific attitude after experimental intervention lesson activities with game applications. Also, the more meaningful improvement in the scientific attitude was found in the lower group than in the higher group. It implies that lessons with the game activities motivated the students to voluntarily participate in school science learning by enhancing their interests. Therefore, it is suggested that game application learning be a new teaching-learning material that helps to encourage learners to actively participate in middle school science learning.

  • The latest development of the Korean drama production industry has been accompanied by the steep rise in the number of players and the contraction of the advertizing market, which have combined to intensify the competition severely. Then, China happened. Entertainment agencies' logical strategic choice to maximize production revenue potential was to secure A-list actors who can sell, pushing up their prices, that process has continued to even compromise the health of the production industry as well as the agencies' financial integrity. The drama production industry, including entertainment agencies, should shift the strategic focus from simple production revenue generation to profit maximization through diversifying revenue sources like securing IP rights.

  • 협상은 상거래에 있어서 매우 중요한 요소 중 하나이다. 현재의 웹 기반 전자상거래 시스템은 이러한 중요한 협상 구조를 상거래에 잘 반영하지 못하는 문제점을 가지고 있다. 이러한 문제점중 기업과 소비자간의 미비한 협상 구조를 보안하기 위해 실세계 상거래에서 존재하는 점원을 전자상거래상의 가상점원으로 모델링하여 회사의 정책과 구매자의 특성을 반영하여 구매자와 전략적으로 자동 협상을 수행할 수 있는 에이전트의 구조를 설계하고 구현하였다. 협상은 매우 복잡한 구조를 가지고 있다. 이러한 협상 구조를 지원하기 위해서는 상호간의 제안을 표현하고, 그 제안에 대한 평가 내용과 결정사항을 전달할 수 있는 언어적인 구조가 필요하며, 협상의 대상이 되는 사안들의 특성을 반영할 수 있는 표현 구조도 요구된다. 또한 이러한 협상에서 전략을 세우고 알맞은 제안을 제시하며 상대의 제안에 대하여 전략적으로 반응할 수 있는 의사결정 모델이 요구된다. 본 논문에서는 회사의 정책 모델과 구매자의 모델을 정의하고 이를 이용한 협상 모델을 설계 구현하였다. 협상 구조의 모델링을 위해 KQML(Knowledge Query Manipulation Language)을 기반으로 전자상거래 프로토콜로 설계하고, 논쟁 기반 협상 모델을 기초로 협상언로를 설계하였다. 또한 협상에서의 전략적인 의사결정을 위해 게임이론을 이용하고, 규칙 기반 시스템으로 이를 보충하였다. 마지막으로 가상점원 모델을 바탕으로 조립 컴퓨터 판매를 위한 가상점원을 구현하였고, 이에 대한 실험을 통하여 가상점원의 유용성을 보였다.

Optimization of Multi-objective Function based on The Game Theory and Co-Evolutionary Algorithm (게임 이론과 공진화 알고리즘에 기반한 다목적 함수의 최적화)

  • Multi-objective Optimization Problems(MOPs) are occur more frequently than generally thought when we try to solve engineering problems. In the real world, the majority cases of optimization problems are the problems composed of several competitive objective functions. In this paper, we introduce the definition of MOPs and several approaches to solve these problems. In the introduction, established optimization algorithms based on the concept of Pareto optimal solution are introduced. And contrary these algorithms, we introduce theoretical backgrounds of Nash Genetic Algorithm(Nash GA) and Evolutionary Stable Strategy(ESS), which is the basis of Co-evolutionary algorithm proposed in this paper. In the next chapter, we introduce the definitions of MOPs and Pareto optimal solution. And the architecture of Nash GA and Co-evolutionary algorithm for solving MOPs are following. Finally from the experimental results we confirm that two algorithms based on Evolutionary Game Theory(EGT) which are Nash GA and Co-evolutionary algorithm can search optimal solutions of MOPs.

  • Gamification is an important technology for the museum experience in the future, but there is a lack in both its application and academic studies in Korea. Therefore this study targets the technical strategies of museum gamification by studying domestic and international cases. For this purpose, this study analyzes and compares the cases as personalization, and audience interaction of museum experience and sees how the structure of the digital program affects the museum experience in detail by applying MDA framework to the comparisons. For visitors' active interaction with the museums, gamification should be designed in a way to contribute to visual expression of self identity, utilization of the museum space, constructivist learning free from limit on space and time, and interaction with other people.

  • There is much selective confliction in nature where selfish and rational individuals exists. Iterated Prisoner's Dilemma (IPD) game deals with this problem, and has been used to study on the evolution of cooperation in social, economic and biological systems. So far, there has been much work about the relationship of the number of players and cooperation, strategy learning as a machine learning and the effect of payoff functions to cooperation. In this paper, We attempt to investigate the cooperative coalition size according to payoff functions, and observe the relationship of localization and the evolution of cooperation in NIPD (N-player IPD) game. Experimental results indicate that cooperative coalition size increases as the gradient of the payoff function for cooperation becomes steeper than that of defector's payoff function, or as the minimum coalition size gets smaller, Moreover, the smaller the neighborhood of interaction is, the higher the cooperative coalition emerges through the evolution of population.

  • Virtual reality(VR) is known as immersive multimedia or computer-simulated reality, is a computer technology that replicates an environment, real or imagined, and simulates a user's physical presence and environment to allow for user interaction. Virtual realities artificially create sensory experience including sight, touch, hearing, and smell. Owing to the use of a single device in most VR contents, user have difficulty in manipulating user interface and game object. And also immersion of the game goes down because they can't see the mouse and keyboard in virtual space. In this paper, we design and implement the chess game to easily and accurately control user interface to improve the immersion in game.

A Study on NPC Grouping of 3D Game using Gabor Characteristics (가버 특성을 이용한 3D 게임의 NPC 그룹핑에 관한 연구)

  • An NPC grouping method is proposed for various 3D games depending on their characteristics. Immovable objects tend to have particular orientation features in their Gabor filtering results whereas the movable objects controlled by AI appearing as a human or an animal do not. First of all, We analyzed directional and frequency domain features in the NPC object and configured them as 24 Gabor filter banks. Then, 24-dimensional feature vectors according to the scale and direction of the filter are calculated. Each extracted vector represents the energy of a certain direction. This energy indicates the particular direction strength of the object texture. Thus, using this property, NPCs could be grouped as artificial objects and natural objects effectively and it draws the game more speed and strategic actions as a result.

  • E-sports, a burgeoning facet of modern sports culture, has achieved global prominence. Particularly, Aeon of Strife (AOS) games, emblematic of E-sports, blend individual player prowess with team dynamics to significantly influence outcomes. This study aggregates and analyzes real user gameplay data using statistical techniques. Furthermore, it develops and tests win-loss prediction models through machine learning, leveraging a substantial dataset of 1,149,950 individual data points and 230,234 team data points. These models, employing five machine learning algorithms, demonstrate an average accuracy of 80% for individual and 95% for team predictions. The findings not only provide insights beneficial to game developers for enhancing game operations but also offer strategic guidance to general users. Notably, the team-based model outperformed the individual-based model, suggesting its superior predictive capability.

  • 모바일 IT와 무선인터넷의 발달에 따라 디지털 컨텐츠를 담는 뉴미디어로서의 휴대폰의 가능성은 점차 확대되고 있으며, 모바일 컨텐츠 시장도 급속도로 성장하고 있다. 무선인터넷의 발달은 유선 인터넷 컨텐츠를 무선으로 확장하게 하였으며, 장소기반 관광 정보 (Location Based Information) 서비스가 우선적으로 구축되고 있다. 그러나, 현재 모바일 기기로 서비스되고 있는 대부분의 관광정보는 관광지에 대한 간단한 설명, 교통편, 숙박, 음식점 등 매우 실용적이고 일반적이어서 편리하긴 하지만, 그다지 사용하고 싶은 매력은 없는 정보에 그치고 있다. 본 연구는 기술적으로 진화하고 있는 유비쿼터스 도시 환경에서 모바일을 활용하여 어떠한 새로운 형태의 관광 컨텐츠가 가능해질 수 있을까 하는 질문에서 출발하였다. 본 논문은 정보통신연구 진흥원의 지원을 받아 진행했던 지역의 역사, 문화 정보 전달을 위한 모바일 투어 게임 "타임트렉" 프로토타입 개발에 관한 리서치, 컨셉, 프로세스를 정리한 것이다. "타임트렉" 프로젝트에서 추구했던 방향은 문화적, 역사적으로 중요한 장소를 투어하면서 모바일 미디어를 활용하여 보다 깊은 역사, 문화 정보를 새롭고 재미있는 방법으로 전달하고자 하는 것이었다. 특히, 사용자의 보다 적극적인 참여와 흥미유발을 위해 시간여행 능력을 가진 탐정이 과거로 시간여행을 통해 사건을 해결하는 롤플레잉 스토리 기반 게임과 물리적 장소에서 답을 찾아야 하는 오프라인 퀘스트 게임의 형식을 포함하는 모바일 투어 게임형태로 구축하였다. 이렇게 함으로써 관광객들에게 보다 그 장소에 대해 알고 싶어 하는 흥미를 유도하고 투어를 완료하게 유도함으로써 만족스럽고 새로운 관광 경험을 제공하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 새로운 타입의 모바일 관광서비스의 프로토타입 개발에 있어 중점을 두었던 부분은 역사적으로 중요한 장소를 워킹 트레일로 구성하고 그 장소가 가지는 기본적인 문화, 역사적 정보에 오락적 요소(스토리와 게임 요소)를 자연스럽게 혼합하여 흥미로운 컨텐츠를 만들는 것이었으며, 또한 모바일이 가진 위치기반 서비스 기능을 활용하여 효과적으로 컨텐츠를 적재적소에 제시하는 인터페이스 구현에 중점을 두었다. 논문에서는 먼저, 기존의 국내외 모바일 관광정보서비스의 사례 및 연구 동향을 분석하고, 이에 따라 설정한 "타임트렉" 프로젝트의 방향성과, "타임트렉" 프로젝트에서 개발했던 프로토타입에 대하여 요약, 설명하였으며, 사용자 테스트 과정을 기술하였다. 그리고 마지막으로, 시장 세분화에 따른 관광 정보 서비스의 엔터테인먼트화 전략에 대해 논의하였다. 본 연구에서 시도했던 지역의 역사, 문화 관광을 위한 LBS 모바일 기술과 스토리, 게임 등 엔터테인먼트 요소의 결합은 관광객들에게 새로운 형태의 즐거운 관광 경험을 창출할 수 있으며, 관광 산업과 모바일 컨텐츠 산업의 결합이라는 새로운 접근의 장을 개척할 수 있을 것이다.
