The purpose of this study is to investigate the developmental process of University-based librarianship education in Japan from a historical perspective by analyzing literature. The results show that America's librarianship education policy historically focused on the establishment of a new model of librarianship education whereas Japan's policy was to keep the one from the Second World War. In 1951, an American model of education was established at Keio University by the contract between U.S. Department of the Army and American Library Association in America, but it did not continue to develop as mainstream model. The American model of librarianship education was not successful in Japan. It is expected that this study concerning Japanese librarianship education which adopted by the American model at the first time after the war in Asia will give vision for further studies in the domain of library history.

명치 초기이후 일본은 게이오대학 설립자 후쿠자와 유키지를 비롯해 이화학연구소 이사장 아리마 아키도박사 등 많은 과학계몽가들이 활약해왔다. 아리마 아키도박사는 "청소년들이 과학을 흥미롭게 공부할 수 있도록 해서 독창적인 인재를 길러내야 일본의 내일이 열린다"고 주장하고 있다. 이렇듯 많은 과학계몽가들의 활약으로 일본의 세계 제2의 과학기술국의 자리에 오른 것이다.

럭셔리 마켓의 규모가 확대되면서 관련 기업 및 소비자, 정부, 학계의 관심은 날로 커져가고 있으나, 가장 기본이 되는 럭셔리의 개념에 대한 연구는 전무한 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 세계 최대의 럭셔리 마켓인 일본의 소비자와, 일본시장 다음의 타깃 마켓인 동시에 중국시장 진출을 위한 테스트 마켓인 한국의 소비자를 대상으로 해석주의 연구방법의 하나인 포토 에세이(photo essay)를 이용하여 럭셔리의 개념을 분석하였다. 포토 에세이 법을 이용함으로써 피험자는 소비 경험을 보다 명확히 설명할 수 있으며 자기구동에 의하여 럭셔리의 개념에 대해 보다 많은 반응을 보일 수 있으므로 이는 개념 연구에 유용한 방법이라 하겠으며, 본 연구에서는 이와 병행하여 포커스 그룹 인터뷰를 실시하였다. 포토 에세이 조사의 연구 대상은 20 대부터 50 대의 한국과 일본 남녀 총 77 명으로, 2008 년 1 월 9 일부터 2 월 9 일에 걸쳐 실시되었다. 또한 포커스 그룹 인터뷰는 2008 년 5 월에 실시되었으며, 인터뷰 대상자는 일본 게이오대학 학생 16 명이었다. 조사 결과, 럭셔리의 개념으로는 '디자인의 우수성, 고품질, 가치의 유지, 희소성, 자아실현, 명성, 높은 가격, 과시 욕구, 자기만족의 수단, 명확한 브랜드 아이덴티티' 등이 주요 항목으로 거론되었다.

Over the past 50 years, red sea bream Pagrus major has been selectively bred for more than 10 generations to improve its growth rate. However, the effect of genetic factors on growth under low- or non-fish meal diet is still unclear. Here, we analyzed 251 individuals randomly mating 21 females (dam) and 16 males (sire) to determine the difference in growth between non-fish meal (i.e., treatment group) and fish meal-based diet (i.e., control group), if any. The kinship coefficient between each group of individuals and their parents was estimated by the KING (Kinship-based Inference for GWASs) software package. The presumed parents of 74 individuals in the treatment group and 57 individuals in the control group could be effectively identified. Notably, one specific female was consistently related to high- rather than low-growth individuals in both groups. In addition, more than one parent in each group was related to either high- or low-growth individuals. Parents of both high-growth individuals in the treatment group and low-growth individuals in the control group were also identified. Although further study is required on various growth factors, this study suggests the possibility of selective breeding under non-fish meal diet.

The purpose of this study is to develop an XML based GUI that can search for satellite image information which is converted to XML data format and stored in the database server on the web, and modify and reuse data. In order to implement these functions efficiently, we used a DOM interface of XML that increases the efficiency of accessing the document structure. We used HTML and Java script programming to facilitate this interface. The system was applied to the management system of satellite images in the Research Institute of SFC at Keio University. Our results confirmed the technical functionalities.

The objective of this research is to develop a new module which can reuse XML data by modifying the property of satellite images through the client's GUI at remote site. In order to implement this functionality, we used DOM interface which increases the efficiency of accessing the document structure, and loaded the developed GUI that could resort, retrieve and manage the satellite image list as converted XML data. The system was applied to the management system of satellite images in the Research Institute of SFC at Keio University which results in the confirmation of the technical functionalities.
