  • In this paper, a fire detection algorithm based on video processing is proposed. At the first stage, background image extracted from CCTV video input signal, and then foreground image were separated by differencing CCTV input signal from background image. At the second stage, candidated area were extracted by using color information from foreground image. At the final stage, smoke or flame characteristic area were separated by using Gaussian mixture modeling applied to candidated area, and then fire can be detected. Through real experiments at the inner room, it is shown that the proposed system works well.

  • In this paper, we propose an algorithm to detect semantic events in golf video using Hidden Markov Model. The purpose of this paper is to identify and classify the golf events to facilitate highlight-based video indexing and summarization. In this paper we first define 4 semantic events, and then design HMM model with states made up of each event. We also use 10 multiple visual features based on MPEG-7 visual descriptors to acquire parameters of HMM for each event. Experimental results showed that the proposed algorithm provided reasonable detection performance for identifying a variety of golf events.

  • Detecting bacteria in blood could be an important research area in medicine and computer vision. In this paper, we propose a method for detecting bacteria in blood from 366 darkfield microscopy images acquired at Kaggle. Generate a training dataset through preprocessing and data augmentation using image processing techniques, and define a deep learning model for learning it. As a result of the experiment, it was confirmed that the proposed deep learning model effectively detects red blood cells and bacteria in darkfield microscopy images. In this paper, we learned using a relatively simple model, but it seems that more accurate results can be obtained by using a deeper model.

  • In this paper, we propose a novel approach to improve the performance of a statistical model-based voice activity detection (VAD) which is based on the conditional maximum a posteriori (CMAP) with deviation. In our approach, the VAD decision rule is expressed as the geometric mean of likelihood ratios (LRs) based on adapted threshold according to the speech presence probability conditioned on both the speech activity decisions and spectral deviation in the pervious frame. Experimental results show that the proposed approach yields better results compared to the CMAP-based VAD using the LR test.

  • In this paper, we deal with on observer design for detecting the human faults in container crane operation. First we propose an observer for detecting the human faults and show the existing condition for the observer. In this case, we assume that the human faults can be considered ad a careless mistake during the crane operation. In simulation, we used the previous results for human work model and design the observer for the human work model. As a simulation results with human faults, the proposed observer can detected the human faults perfectly, thus the efficiency of proposed observer is shown.

  • Multicopters have become more popular since they are advantageous in their ability to take off and land vertically. In order to guarantee the normal operations of such multicopters, the problem of fault detection and isolation is very important. In this paper, a new method for detecting and isolating an actuator fault of a hexacopter is proposed based on the analytical approach. The residual is newly defined using the angular velocities of actuators estimated by the mathematical model and an actuator fault is detected comparing the residuals to a threshold. And a fault is isolated combining a dynamic model and generated residuals when a fault is detected. The proposed method is a simple, but effective technique because it is based on mathematical model. The results of the computer simulation are also given to demonstrate the validity of the proposed algorithm in case of a single failure.

  • This study proposed a face region detection algorithm using fuzzy inference of pixel hue and intensity. The proposed algorithm is composed of light compensate and face detection. The light compensation process performs calibration for the change of light. The face detection process evaluates similarity by generating membership functions using as feature parameters hue and intensity calculated from 20 skin color models. From the extracted face region candidate, the eyes were detected with element C of color model CMY, and the mouth was detected with element Q of color model YIQ, the face region was detected based on the knowledge of an ordinary face. The result of experiment are conducted with frontal face color images of face as input images, the method detected the face region regardless of the position and size of face images.

  • In this paper, we propose a novel scheme to improve the performance of a voice activity detection(VAD) which is based on the deep belief networks(DBN) with the likelihood ratio(LR). The proposed algorithm applies the DBN learning method which is trained in order to minimize the probability of detection error instead of the conventional decision rule using geometric mean. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm yields better results compared to the conventional VAD algorithm in various noise environments.

  • One of the key issues in practical speech processing is to achieve robust Voice Activity Deteciton (VAD) against the background noise. Most of the statistical model-based approaches have tried to employ equally weighted likelihood ratios (LRs), which, however, deviates from the real observation. Furthermore voice activities in the adjacent frames have strong correlation. In other words, the current frame is highly correlated with previous frame. In this paper, we propose the effective VAD approach based on a minimum classification error (MCE) method which is different from the previous works in that different weights are assigned to both the likelihood ratio on the current frame and the decision statistics of the previous frame.
