Development of Adaptive Feedback Cancellation Algorithm for Multi-channel Digital Hearing Aids (다채널 디지털 보청기를 위한 적응 궤환 제거 알고리즘 개발)

  • In this study, we proposed an adaptive feedback cancellation algorithm for multi-band digital healing aids. The adaptive feedback canceller (AFC) is composed of an adaptive notch filter (ANF) for feedback detection and an NLMS (normalized least mean square) adaptive filter for feedback cancellation. The proposed feedback cancellation algorithm is combined with a multi-band hearing aid algorithm which employs the MDCT (modified discrete cosine transform) filter bank for the frequency-dependent compensation of hearing losses. The proposed algorithm together with the MDCT-based multi-channel hearing aid algorithm has been evaluated via computer simulations and it has also been implemented on a commercialized DSP board for real-time verifications.

  • An automatic multi-threshold algorithm for segmentation of 2D ultrasound images based on average filtering and the characteristics of speckle noise in 2D ultrasound image is proposed. To do this, we investigate the histogram of difference between $7{\times}7$ averaging histogram and $3{\times}3$ averaging histogram. And, we find zero crossing points in the positive portion of the differenced histogram and select middle points of the zero crossing points. We assign these selected points to characteristic points. The thresholds are the center of two characteristic points. Then we segment 2D ultrasound image by using these thresholds and extract edges from applying edge operator to optimal segmented image. Experimental results show that the segmented regions are devided accurately around the homogeneous region.

  • As recording densities increase in digital magnetic recording channels, the performances of digital detection techniques such as PRML and DFE degrade significantly due to nonlinear distortion in recording channels. The primary impediments for hgih-density recording are generally classified as nonlinear transition shift, which can be reduced substantially by the precompensation technique, and partial erasure which usually requires sophisticated nonlinear equalization techniques. In order to acheieve the highest density recording, accurate estimation of the parameters associated with these two noninear distortions is crucial. In this paper, a new estimation technique to distinguish these two different nonlinear effect using a proposed adaptive algorithm in time domain is presented. The effectiveness of the proposed adaptive approach to identify uniquely the nonlinear parameter with bias is demonstrated by computer simulation.

  • As a channel of a DS-CDMA system is shared among several users, the receivers face the problem of MAI. Also the bandlimited channel leads to ISI. Both components are undesired, but unlike the additive noise process, which is usually completely unpredictable, their space-time structure helps to estimate and remove them. This paper investigates a DS-CDMA system with a fading multipath channel. The investigations have been separated into a channel estimation part and a reception part. In the estimation part of seperated two parts, the multipath parameters such as DOA and TOA are evaluated in this paper. In the part of receiver. we used these parameters and tested the performance of this receiver about space-time beamformers. To assess many different estimation techniques and beamformers, the simulation compared with theoretical values is performed.

  • In order to transmit information in a channel environment in which noise exists, a coding technique of information is required. One of the coding techniques used for error detection and correction close to the Shannon limit is Low Density Parity Code(LDPC). LDPC and decoding characteristic features by Sum-product algorithm are matched for the performance to Turbo Code, RA(Repeat Accumulate) code, in case of very long code length of LDPC surpass their performance. This paper explains LDPC coding scheme of image data and decoding scheme, implements LDPC decoder in FPGA.

  • This paper proposes Domino CMOS NOR-NOR Array Logic design method which has the same as characteristic of CMOS and Domino CMOS in Array Logic like PLA, good operation feature, high desity, easy test generation. This testable design method can detect all of faults in the circuit using simple additional circuit and solve the parasitic capacitance problem by improving the pull-down characteristics. A Test generation algorithm and test procedure using concept of PLA product term and personality matrix are proposed, and it was implemented in PASCAL language. This design method is verified by SPICE and P-SPICE simulation.

  • This paper proposes the KB-Fano algorithm which has lower decoding complexity by applying modified Fano-like metric bias to the conventional K-best algorithm. Additionally, an efficient K-best decoding algorithm, named the KR-Fano scheme, is proposed by jointly combining the K-reduction and the KB-Fano schemes. Simulations show that the proposed algerian provides the remarkable improvement from the viewpoints of the BER performance and the decoding complexity as compared to the conventional K-best scheme.

플라즈마 공간분포 측정을 위한 디지털카메라를 이용한 토모그래피 진단법 개발 및 부유탐침 진단 결과와의 비교 분석

  • 토모그래피는 플라즈마 물리학뿐만 아니라 의료영상이나 천문학 등의 분야에서 오랫동안 이용되어 온 기법으로 직접 들여다 볼 수 없는 단면을 선적분된 데이터를 이용하여 국지적인 데이터를 재구성해내는 영상진단 방법이다. 플라즈마 물리학의 경우 공간적으로 검출기 배열을 균일하게 배치할 수 없으므로 토모그래피 기법에 균일화는 필수적이다. 이를 위해 본 연구에서는 Phillips-Tikhonov 균일화 방법을 사용하였다. Phillip-Tikhonov 균일화 방법은 인접한 픽셀 사이의 구배(gradient)를 최소화하는 방향으로 단면영상을 재구성하는 방식으로, 다른 토모그래피 알고리듬에 비해 훨씬 더 정확한 결과를 보여준다. 본 연구에서는 플라즈마의 공간분포 진단을 위하여 토모그래피 진단법과 부유탐침 진단법을 사용하였다. 플라즈마의 선적분된 방출광을 디지털카메라로 측정한 후 Phillips-Tikhonov 토모그래피 방법으로 재구성하여 플라즈마의 국지적인 공간분포를 알아내었다. 결과의 타당성을 확보하기 위해 부유탐침 진단결과와 비교 분석하여, 전자온도가 위치에 따라 일정한 상태에서 부유탐침을 통한 밀도분포와 토모그래피 진단법에 의한 플라즈마 방출광 세기의 공간분포가 거의 일치함을 확인할 수 있었다. 이를 통해 플라즈마의 국지적인 공간분포 진단을 위한 디지털카메라를 이용한 토모그래피 진단법의 타당성을 검증하였다.

  • In this paper, we implemented memory BIST circuit based on ION march algorithm, and the IEEE 1149.1 has been designed as main controlJer for embedded memory testing. The implemented memory BIST can be used for word-oriented memory since it adopts background data, this is avaliable for word-oriented memory. It is able to detect all stuck-at faults, transition faults, coupling faults, and address decoder faults in the word-oriented memory. Memory BIST and IEEE 1149.1 are described at RTL level in Verilog-HDL, and synthesized with the Synopsys. The synthesized circuits are fully velified using VerilogXL and memory cell generated by memory compiler.

  • Fault diagnosis and condition monitoring for rotating machines are important for efficiency and accident prevention. The process of fault diagnosis is to extract the feature of signals and to classify each state. Conventionally, fault diagnosis has been developed by combining signal processing techniques for spectral analysis and pattern recognition, however these methods are not able to diagnose correctly for certain rotating machines and some faulty phenomena. In this paper, we add a minimum detection error algorithm to the previous method to reduce detection error rate. Vibration signals of the induction motor are measured and divided into subband signals. Each subband signal is processed to obtain the RMS, standard deviation and the statistic data for constructing the feature extraction vectors. We make a study of the fault diagnosis system that the feature extraction vectors are applied to K-means clustering algorithm and minimum detection error algorithm.
