Effect of the Incident Optical Spot Size Upon the Quadrant Photodetector on the Optical Displacement Detection Sensitivity (4분할 광 검출기 상의 광점 크기가 변위 측정감도에 미치는 영향)

  • In this paper, we have measured the effect of the optical spot size, incident upon the quadrant photodetector, on the optical displacement sensitivity of the optical beam deflection technique. We have built an optical displacement detection system based on the optical beam deflection method using 3 mW He-Ne laser and measured the displacement sensitivity with changing the optical spot size on the quadrant photodetector. We have also calculated the changes in the optical displacement sensitivity as a function of the incident laser spot size by modeling a circular optical spot with constant laser intensity. Our experimental and theoretical studies show that the optical displacement sensitivity increases with the decrease in the optical spot size. This suggests that in the design of the optical motion detection systems with sub-nanometer sensitivity, the displacement sensitivity can be optimized by reducing the size of the incident optical spot on the detector.

  • The effects of cations are very important in field-effect transistors (FETs) type DNA sensors detecting the intrinsic negative charge between single-stranded DNA and double-stranded DNA without labeling, because the intrinsic negative charge of DNA is neutralized by cations in electrolyte solution. We consider the Debye length, which depends on the concentration of cations in solution, to detect DNA hybridization based on the intrinsic negative charge of DNA. The Debye length is longer in buffer solution with a lower concentration of NaCl and the intrinsic negative charge of DNA is more effective on the channel surface in longer Debye length solution. The shifts in the gate voltage by DNA hybridization with complementary target DNA are 21 mV in 1 mM NaCl buffer solution, 7.2 mV in 10 mM NaCl buffer solution, and 5.1 mV in 100 mM NaCl buffer solution. The sensitivity of FETs to detect DNA hybridization based on charge detection without labeling depends on the Debye length.

  • Patch type piezo-polymer sensors for smart structures were experimented to detect elastic wave. The pencil lead braking test was performed to analyze the characteristics of patch-type piezo-polymer sensors such as polyvinyliden fluoride (PVDF) and polyvinylidene fluoride trifluorethylene (P(VDF-TrFE)) for several test specimens with various elastic wave velocities and acoustical impedances. The characteristics of the patch-type piezo-polymer sensor were compared with the commercial PZT acoustic emission (AE) sensor. The vacuum grease and epoxy resin were used as a couplant for the acoustic impedance matching between the sensor and specimen. The peak amplitude of elastic wave increased as the diameter of piezo-film and acoustical impedance of the specimen increased. The frequency detection range of the piezo-film sensors decreased with increasing diameter of the piezo-film sensor. The P(VDF-TrFE) sensor was more sensitive than the PVDF sensor.

  • A detector for monitoring carbon monoxide (CO) in ambient air by nondispersive infrared (NDIR) spectroscopy has been developed and investigated its sensitivity and stability. The essential parts of the absorption cell are three spherical concave mirrors so as to improve the sensitivity by increasing the light path length in the cell. The radius and center of curvature of mirrors and position in the cell was calculated by computer simulation in order that the light path length may be 16m into the 50cm cell. The number of traversals and optical path properties were confirmed by laser beam alignment in transparent absorption cell. The photoconductive type lead selenide (PbSe) was used as CO sensing material, which was cooled to increase the responsibility by thermoelectric cooling method. The detection limit and span drift of the developed CO detector was 0.24ppm and 0.03ppm(v/v) respectively.

  • Bacterial black spot disease of prune fruit (Prunus salicina cv. formosa) has outbroke around major prune production area, Gimcheon, Euiseong and Gunwi in Gyungbuk province and has caused severe economic loss. Integrons PCR primer was designed along with sample pre-incubation and nested PCR method to enhance detection sensitivity for early detection of bacteria in fields. Designed integrons PCR primer successfully detected Xanthomonas arboricola pv. pruni from field collected samples, fruit, leaf, branch and even in raindrop collected from prune orchard. Pre-incubation along with nested PCR enhanced sensitivity to detect X. arboricola pv. pruni from seemingly healthy looking, symptomless branches. Designed integrons PCR can be used in prune nursery fields and in plant quarantine practice for the detection of X. arboricola pv. pruni.

  • This paper presents a power detector circuit which monitors the transmitting power for the application in CDMA cell phones. The proposed power detector are composed of coupler for coupling output power and detector fur monitoring output power. The designed coupler has low loss characteristic because it adopts the stripline structure which consists of two ground planes at both sides of signal plane. The design frequency is 824-849MHz which is the Tx band fur CDMA mobile terminal, and the coupling factor of the stripline coupler is -20dB. A schottky barrier diode is adopted for detector design because of its high speed operation with minimized loss. The required impedance matching is performed to improve the linearity and sensitivity of output voltage at relatively low detector input level where the nonlinear characteristic of diode exists. The package parasitics as well as intrinsic diode model are considered for simulation of the detector. The predicted performances agree well with the measured results.

  • In the operation of farms, it is very important to evaluate the quality of harvested crops and to classify defective products. However, farmers have difficulty coping with the cost and time required for quality assessment due to insufficient capital and manpower. This study thus aims to detect defects by analyzing the epidermis of fruit using deep learning algorithm. We developed a model that can analyze the epidermis by applying YOLOv3 algorithm based on Region Convolutional Neural Network to video images of peach. A total of four classes were selected and trained. Through 97,600 epochs, a high performance detection model was obtained. The crop failure detection model proposed in this study can be used to automate the process of data collection, quality evaluation through analyzed data, and defect detection. In particular, we have developed an analytical model for peach, which is the most vulnerable to external wounds among crops, so it is expected to be applicable to other crops in farming.

  • 본 논문에서는 전력케이블, 전력용 변압기 및 가스 절연차단기와 같은 전력설비의 열화로 인한 방전현상 검출을 위해서 간섭계형 광섬유 센서를 제작하고, 방전 현상을 측정하였다. 광섬유 센서는 아크릴과 알류미늄 광섬유를 수회 감은 맨드릴형으로 선택하였으며, 간섭계는 Sagnac 간섭계를 선택하여 실험하였다. 방전현상은 절연유내에 방전모의셀을 설치하여 방전현상을 일으켰고, 광섬유 센서로 방전신호를 검출하였다.

  • This paper is a study on the 3D infrared image enhancement with Stereoscopic algorithm on still infrared image. The adapted stereo method is that the depth is extracted by comparison with right-left image, and the enhanced 3D infrared image by matching based on feature is realized. As the result of experiment this method forced the more smooth edge lines of 3D infrared images.

  • 조합회로에 대한 ATPG 알고리듬이 효율적으로 100%의 고장 검출율을 달성할 수 있게 되어 감에 따라서 고장 검출율을 그대로 유지한 상태에서 테스트 패턴을 줄이는 압축 기법의 중요성이 점차로 부각되고 있다. 본 논문에서 제시하는 알고리듬은 고장들간의 독립과 양립 관계에 기초해서, 압축된 테스트 패턴을 위해서는 양립할 수 있는 고장 집합의 크기를 크게 해야 하므로, 고장-패턴 쌍과 고장들간의 독립과 양립 관계를 이용해서 고장-패턴 쌍의 트리 구조를 생성하였다. 이 고장-패턴 트리를 바탕으로 해서 효율적으로 압축된 테스트 패턴을 생성할 수 있었고, ISCAS 85와 ISCAS 89 측정 기준 회로에 대한 결과로 제시된 알고리듬의 우수성을 검증하였다.
