Mobile Camera-Based Positioning Method by Applying Landmark Corner Extraction (랜드마크 코너 추출을 적용한 모바일 카메라 기반 위치결정 기법)

  • The technological development and popularization of mobile devices have developed so that users can check their location anywhere and use the Internet. However, in the case of indoors, the Internet can be used smoothly, but the global positioning system (GPS) function is difficult to use. There is an increasing need to provide real-time location information in shaded areas where GPS is not received, such as department stores, museums, conference halls, schools, and tunnels, which are indoor public places. Accordingly, research on the recent indoor positioning technology based on light detection and ranging (LiDAR) equipment is increasing to build a landmark database. Focusing on the accessibility of building a landmark database, this study attempted to develop a technique for estimating the user's location by using a single image taken of a landmark based on a mobile device and the landmark database information constructed in advance. First, a landmark database was constructed. In order to estimate the user's location only with the mobile image photographing the landmark, it is essential to detect the landmark from the mobile image, and to acquire the ground coordinates of the points with fixed characteristics from the detected landmark. In the second step, by applying the bag of words (BoW) image search technology, the landmark photographed by the mobile image among the landmark database was searched up to a similar 4th place. In the third step, one of the four candidate landmarks searched through the scale invariant feature transform (SIFT) feature point extraction technique and Homography random sample consensus(RANSAC) was selected, and at this time, filtering was performed once more based on the number of matching points through threshold setting. In the fourth step, the landmark image was projected onto the mobile image through the Homography matrix between the corresponding landmark and the mobile image to detect the area of the landmark and the corner. Finally, the user's location was estimated through the location estimation technique. As a result of analyzing the performance of the technology, the landmark search performance was measured to be about 86%. As a result of comparing the location estimation result with the user's actual ground coordinate, it was confirmed that it had a horizontal location accuracy of about 0.56 m, and it was confirmed that the user's location could be estimated with a mobile image by constructing a landmark database without separate expensive equipment.

  • Name authority control is important for not only library catalogers but also end users, since it provides uniform access points. The national libraries in Japan and the United States have constructed and controlled authority records for writers from early days, and have provided them on the web sites. The purposes of this study are to extract common fields and differences in Japanese writer's name authority records of the U.S. and Japan, and to propose the ways of desirable description of authority records in Korea. Several suggestions of building authority records in National Library of Korea such as open to the pubic of authority records, provision of various forms of authority files, suggestion of the ways of writing the names of foreign writers, and the links between the authority records and library catalogs for retrieval are proposed.

A Study on Library Service using Artificial Intelligence: Focused on North American University Libraries (인공지능(AI)을 이용한 도서관서비스 연구 - 북미 대학도서관을 중심으로 -)

  • As artificial intelligence (AI) has emerged as a promising future technology among the fourth industrial revolution, we are trying to apply artificial intelligence technology across all area of society, including libraries. This study investigated the effects, issues, and implications of artificial intelligence on university library services. As a research method, in-depth interviews were conducted with IT experts of university libraries in North America, and conclusions and discussion were drawn from interview results and related documents. Research results revealed that university libraries in North America were trying to build an infrastructure that facilitates information access and retrieval based on artificial intelligence systems and to provide new services in collaboration with AI research institutes in universities. This study raised issues regarding the expansion of the role of libraries and librarians, privacy, and data quality. It was also discussed that the need for re-education of university librarians to become software engineers who play a role in disseminating knowledge. In addition, this study suggested the investment for the establishment of the information system and an artificial intelligence research center in the library. The study discussed limitations of research due to changes in the research environment and suggestions for future research.

  • This paper presents an approach for rate control by adaptively selecting macroblock modes in video coding.The problem of rate control has been investigated by many authors where quantizer level is adjustedbased on the buffer fullness. The proposed approach is different fron the previous ones [4] id that it finds the optimal decision curve rather than finding a set of the modes. Proposed algorithm extends the coding decision options for rate control to motion/no-motion compensation as well as inter/intra decisions. Instead of having a fixed motion/no-notion compensation or inter/intra decision curve, one can utilize an adaptive decision curvebased on the characteristics of input frames so that the PSNR at a given bit rate is maximized. Therefore, the proposed approach provides better rate control than simple quantizer feedback approach interns of visual quality. The curve is obtained by utilizing simulated annealing optimization technique. Thealgorithm is implemented and simulations are compared with other approaches within H.261 video codec.

  • Online recruitment services have emerged as one of the most popular Internet services, providing job seekers with a comprehensive list of jobs and a search engine. But many recruitment services suffer from shortcomings due to their reliance on traditional client-pull information access model, in manay cases resulting in unfocused search results. Worldjob+, being operated by The Human Resources Development Service of Korea, addresses these problems and uses Splunk, a platform for analyzing machine data, to provide a more proactive and personalised services. It focuses on enhancing the existing system in two different ways: (a) using personalised automated matching techniques to proactively recommend most preferrable profile or specification information for each job opening announcement or recruiting company, (b) and to recommend most preferrable or desirable job opening announcement for each job-seeker. This approach is a feature-free recommendation technique that recommends information items to a given user based on what similar users have previously liked. A brief discussion about the potential benefit is also provided as a conclusion.

  • 스마트폰 보급은 현대인들에게 시간적, 공간적 제약에서 벗어나 언제 어디서나 무선 인터넷을 사용하여 모바일 뱅킹, 결재, 증권거래 등 원하는 서비스를 이용할 수 있게 해주었다. 사용자들은 이를 이용하여 다양한 정보들을 검색, 저장, 이용한다. 그러나 무선 인터넷의 순기능과는 반대로 최근 모바일 기기의 보안취약점을 이용한 악성애플리케이션 및 각종 공격으로 사용자 개인정보탈취의 위협이 증가하고 있다. 사회공학공격의 일종인 피싱(Phishing)은 신뢰받는 기관을 사칭하여 만들어놓은 가짜사이트에 사용자로부터 자신의 개인정보 및 금융정보를 입력하게끔 유도하여 사용자정보를 탈취하는 방법으로 최근 SMS를 이용하여 정부 및 금융기관을 사칭한 문자를 보내 피싱사이트로 접속을 유도하는 피해사례가 증가하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 국내 피싱사이트의 유형을 분석하고 피싱사이트로 접근을 유도하는 방법 중 하나인 SMS를 이용한 피싱을 방지 할 수 있는 시스템을 고안한다.

  • The purpose of this paper is to development an algorithm for FRBR implementation(functional requirements for bibliographic records), analyzing KORMARC bibliographic records by work types. For this purpose, it was utilized analyzing home and foreign case studies including OCLC and LC's algorithm. Analyzing the experimental data from the Korean National Library's bibliographic records, it was extracted from identifying elements by FRBR's four bibliographic entities. To cluster a related works by work-set, the algorithm was designed to construct the authorized access points as a combination of an author name and a title from the record. I suggested that it should be wholly improved a quality of existing bibliographic records and level of data input to development a FRBR algorithm in Korean libraries.

  • 그리드 환경은 원격의 이질적인 자원들을 서로 공유하며 상호 접근이 가능하도록 하여 사용자의 작업을 처리할 수 있는 메커니즘을 제공한다. 이때 그리드에 참여하는 각 노드들은 그리드에 자유롭게 참여 및 탈퇴가 가능하다는 점에서 P2P(Peer-to-Peer) 네트워크 구조와 유사하다. 또한 그리드 정보 서비스의 배치(deployment)와 특정한 자원 검색 서비스의 측면을 고려할 때 P2P 구조는 그리드 환경에서 유용하게 활용 될 수 있다. 따라서 그리드를 설계함에 있어 기존의 방법과는 달리 P2P 형식으로 그리드를 구성하는 것은 시스템의 확장성과 이에 따른 효율성을 개선하는 중요한 요소가 된다. 본 논문에서는 P2P 형식의 그리드를 구성하는데 필요한 계층형 Ring 기반의 멤버쉽 프로토콜을 제안한다. 계층형 Ring 기반의 멤버쉽 프로토콜은 제한된 네트워크 연결만을 가지게 되므로 멤버쉽을 위한 통신 비용을 감소 시킬 수 있게 되며, 각 노드에서 유지해야 하는 멤버쉽 정보들이 지역적인 정보들만을 대상으로 하기 때문에 멤버쉽 정보 유지에 따른 관리 비용 또한 감소하게 되는 장점을 갖게 된다.

  • In this study, we proposed the FRAD concept model of authority data schema for author, organization and journal titles included in the academic papers. Academic information includes author names, affiliations, publishers, journals and conferences. They are used as access points, and there are multiple relationships among these entities. It is expected that the use of authority data for academic information based on FRAD conceptual model could improve more accurate retrieval of information, systematic management of academic information, and various forms of knowledge representation. In this study, our entity-relationship authority data will be linked to the document, and included the several properties and relationship to identify the object.

  • As WWW grows at an increasing speed, a classifier targeted at hypertext has become in high demand. While document categorization il quite mature, the issue of utilizing hypertext structure and hyperlinks has been relatively unexplored. In this paper, we propose a practical method for enhancing both the speed and the quality of hypertext categorization using hyerlinks. In comparison against a recently proposed technique that appears to be the only one of the kind, we obtained up to 18.5% of improvement in effectiveness while reducing the processing time dramatically. We attempt to explain through experiments what factors contribute to tile improvement.
