The purpose of this study is to suggest retrieval interfaces for Korean paintings which support users to retrieve specific digitalized images of them through various access points and to widely browse based on unique features Korean paintings. The study, first, develops a set of descriptive elements suitable for Korean Paintings. Twenty-six core elements and one hundred seventy-two attributes are selected as descriptive items for Korean paintings based on the opinion of 8 experts. Then, to gam realistic evidence of what descriptive elements of image serve users as access points, it is investigated which elements are used as retrieval access points among 26 core elements by 300 peered users who are consisted with two groups such as common users and domain specialists. The study, in final, designs two(general and advanced) types of search interfaces and display interfaces based on the most popular top 15 descriptive elements. This access-enhanced platform which enables user-oriented searches will satisfy users in image retrieving.

정보검색측면에서 완전한 서지데이터베이스는 입력경비와 노력에 비해 이용자들이 검색접근점으로 활용하는 필드는 극히 제한적이다. 한편, 국내의 대학도서관들은 급증하는 장서를 대상으로 완전한 서지데이터베이스를 추구함에 따라 실제 서가에 배열되는데 많은 time-lag이 소요되고 있다. 따라서 본고에서는 최소수준의 검색접근점을 갖는 목록규칙의 시안을 제시하므로서 도서관과 정보이용자 양측이 만족하는 방안을 제시하고자 한다.

This study aims to suggest several improvement strategies for the access and retrieval system of National Library of Korea Subject Headings (NLKSH). For this purpose, first of all, the access and retrieval systems in five selected subject headings were examined. Second, focus group interviews and system analysis were conducted to reveal the current condition and suggest the future development strategies. Third, IFLA's Guidelines for Subject Access in National Bibliographies and FAST application cases were analyzed to suggest implications on the improvement strategies. Upon these analysis, recommendations for improving access and retrieval systems of the NLKSH were proposed in four areas as follows: functionalities, interfaces, queries, and other front-end features.

This study surveyed the retrieval systems for digital information resources of the university libraries in Busan, Ulsan, Gyeongnam districts and the vendors. Kinds of access points and retrieval conditions (Boolean logic, methods of index term identification, and particularities of the retrieval) of the libraries' systems are various and different to each other. Access points of the vendors' systems are unessentially various and different to each other, but the retrieval conditions are rather elaborated. Upon the result the suggestions for the standardization of digital information retrieval system are offered.

This article proposed a new online union catalog of children's material owned by children's libraries and public libraries in Korea. In order to meet users' information needs about children's material the existing access points in the online catalogs should be expanded including such information as children's age, type of publication, genre, subject, theme, book review, awarded books, and location. Since location information about a particular material is essential to users, a national online union catalog of children's material should be constructed.

This study developed a name access point control system for better performance of information retrieval from institutional repositories, which are equipped with authorgenerated metadata processes for self-archiving. In developing name access point control data for the system, the primary data were created from the existing authority. However, unlike the existing authority data, the primary data did not use any authority forms. Instead, the data utilized all the forms provided by the resources as access points. Specifically, field of activity(subject) and title information on authorship were used to distinguish between persons who have the same name. The result showed that the system improved the performance of the information retrieval. The system has been also expected to be utilized over other metadata provided by libraries, in addition to the institutional repositories, in order to provide better quality information.

In this study in order to verify the overall information seeking behavior of the Web-based OPAC users, it was analyzed transaction log file for 7 years. Regarding Web-based OPAC information seeking behavior, it was studied from the perspective of information seeking strategy and information seeking failure. In search strategy, it was analyzed search type, search options, Boolean operator, length of search text, number of uses of word, number of use Web-based OPAC, number of use by time, by week day. Also, in search failure, search failure ratio, search failure ratio by search options, search failure ratio by Boolean operator were analyzed. The result of this study is expected to be utilized for OPAC system and service improvement in the future.

IP 주소 검색은 고속 인터넷 라우터의 병목 지점이다. 소프트웨어 기반의 IP 주소 검색은 많은 경우, 트라이(trie)를 자료구조로 사용하고 있는데, 트라이에서의 가장 큰 문제점은 레벨별 검색이 메모리 접근 횟수와 비례한다는 점이다. 메모리 검색은 프로세서의 다른 연산에 비해서 시간을 많이 소모하는 작업이므로 검색 횟수를 줄임으로써 IP 주소 검색 시간을 단축할 수 있고, 이는 곧 라우터의 성능 향상을 의미한다. 본 논문에서는 트라이에 대해서 메모리 접근 횟수를 줄이는 효율적이고 간단한 기법을 제안하고 그 성능을 분석한다. 제안되는 기법을 적용하였을 때, 이진 트라이에 대해서 약 34%의 추가적인 메모리 사용으로 약 10% 정도의 성능 향상을 얻을 수 있었다. 또한 이 기법은 트라이에 기반한 모든 자료 구조에 일반적(generic)으로 사용될 수 있는 장점을 가진다.

기존의 목록체제에서 중요하게 다루지 않았던 음악자료의 접근점을 중심으로 검색에서 나타나는 문제를 분석하였다. 부분문자열, 번역곡명, 별칭곡명 등에서 나타나는 문제는 키워드 색인방법의 개선과 전거제어로, 그리고 연주수단, 인명정보, 연주장소, 수상내역 등에서 나타나는 문제는 주기사항을 확장시키는 방법이 있으며, 가사의 문제는 키워드추출 및 구절단위의 색인기법을 통한 전문데이터 검색방법을 적용하여 개선할 수 있을 것이다.
