  • 도입까지 시간이 걸릴 것이라고 예측됐던 건설정보모델링(BIM : Building Information Modeling, 이하 BIM)이 어느새 성큼 다양한 분야에 진입했다. 영국, 싱가포르, 미국 등 해외에서는 이미 공공사업 시 BIM을 적극적으로 활용하고 있다. 우리나라 또한 2018년 국토교통부에서 '스마트 건설기술 로드맵'을 마련한 후 공공사업에 BIM을 단계적으로 도입해왔다. 대부분의 발주기관들은 오는 2025년까지 공공사업에 BIM을 전면 도입한다는 계획이다. 성균관대학교 공과대학 건설환경공학부 및 미래도시융합공학과 교수이자 국제건설자동화학회의 종신 상임이사인 권순욱 교수는 '스마트 건설 관리' 연구자이자 국내외에서 활동 중인 CM, BIM의 권위자다. 관련 분야의 책 8권과 100편 이상의 논문을 집필하고 30여 개의 특허·소프트웨어 등록을 보유하고 있다. 텍사스 오스틴 대학교 토목공학 박사 출신으로, 삼성물산, 한국건설기술연구원 등 일반 기업과 국가기관에서 실무와 이론을 두루 경험하며 경력을 쌓았다. 건설연구개발사업, 첨단 융복합 건설기술 등 다수의 국가 건설 R&D에 참여해 초고층 자재, 안전 모니터링, BIM 프로세스 표준개발 등의 시스템을 개발하기도 했다. 해외 연구자들과의 교류에도 적극적이다. 세계 석학들과 '노령 공학' 관련 영문교과서를 공동 집필(스마트주택 챕터 담당)했고, 2016년과 2019년엔 국제건설자동화학회와 국제프로젝트관리학회의 연사 자격으로 강단에 섰다. "영국, 싱가포르 등에선 공공사업을 100% BIM으로 발주하기 시작했습니다. 우리나라 정부도 비슷한 길을 가고 있습니다. 일정 규모의 발주 물량이 안정적으로 나오는 공공기관에서 그렇게 한다는 것은 국가가 전체 패러다임을 바꾸겠다는 의지 아닐까요?" 6월 10일 그의 연구실에서 권순욱 교수를 만나 BIM의 현황과 전망에 대해 들어봤다.

A Study on the Selection and Modification of Ground Motion Based on Site Response Analysis (부지응답해석에 기반한 지반운동 선정 및 보정에 관한 고찰)

  • In the recent seismic design code KDS 41 17 00, selection and modification procedures of ground motions which are used for nonlinear dynamic analyses were adopted. However, its practical applications are still limited due to the lack of literatures. This paper introduces case studies which used site-response analyses to select and modify ground motions for nonlinear dynamic analyses. Based on the case studies, design criterion for site-response analyses were reviewed thoroughly in the viewpoint of practical applications. It was found that design requirements related with bedrock motions are too conservative that ground motions are selected and modified in the excessive manner. It is especially true for low-rise building structures with period ranges including acceleration-sensitive regions. Even though surface motions have shown appropriate responses, such building structures have to re-select and re-modify ground motions based on pre-analysis procedures rather than post-ones according to the current seismic design code. Also, it was observed that building structures with soft soils under strong ground motions need more comprehensive investigations on soil properties and efficient analysis methods in order to perform site-response analyses. This is due to the fact that lack of reliabilities on soil properties and analysis methods could result in unstable site-responses.

Data interoperability between authoring software and BIM system focused on the office building in conceptual design phase (설계 초기 단계 형상정보 연동 데이터 호환체계 개발 - 오피스 매스를 중심으로)

  • Owing to the complexity of shapes and elements, some difficulties are found in the modeling and sharing phases in a project at the earlier design stages. This paper extends the boundaries by suggesting the data interoperability between 3D modeling software, McNeel Rhino 3D and BIM system, and Autodesk® Revit® Architecture. The main research methodology is to link the architectural form data in the NURBS supporting the 3DM format, especially for integrating surface properties into the mass family template of Revit. This algorithm-driven interoperability approach using visual programming, such as Dynamo in conjunction with Autodesk®, can be applicable in a theoretical part and also a practical use-case. This paper summarizes these results as sequence guidelines and project template recommendations suggesting an efficient design process to interoperate geometric data with the BIM system to manipulate and control the regular and curved form of office buildings.

Scale-Up Factor for Seismic Analysis of Building Structure for Various Coordinate Systems (건축구조물의 지진해석에서 좌표축의 설정에 따른 보정계수 산정법)

  • In a practical engineering, the equivalent static analysis (E.S.A) and the response spectrum analysis (R.S.A) are generally used for the seismic analysis. The base shears obtained from the E.S.A are invariable no matter how the principal axes of building structures are specified on an analysis program while those from the R.S.A are variable. Accordingly, the designed member size may be changed by how an engineer specify the principal axes of a structure when the R.S.A is used. Moreover, the base shears in the normal direction to the excitation axis are sometimes produced even when an engineer performs a response spectrum analysis in only one direction. This tendency makes the base shear, which is used to calculate the scale-up factor, relatively small. Therefore the scale-up factor becomes larger and it results in uneconomical member sizes. To overcome these disadvantages of the R.S.A, an alternative has been proposed in this study. Three types of example structures were adapted in this study, i.e. bi-direction symmetric structure, one-direction antisymmetric structure and bi-direction antisymmetric structure. The seismic analyses were performed by rotating the principal axes of the example structures with respect to the global coordinate system. The design member forces calculated with the scale-up factor used in the practice were compared with those obtained by using the scale-up factor proposed in this study. It can be seen from this study that the proposed method for the scale-up factor can provide reliable and economical results regardless of the orientation of the principal axes of the structures.

A Study on Outsourcing Application of M.E.P. System for Manufacturing Process Improvement of the Modular Construction Method (모듈러건축 공법의 공장제작과정 개선을 위한 M.E.P.시스템 외주제작 적용에 관한 연구)

  • This study is conducted to improve the manufacturing process of the modular construction method, which is a pre-fabricated construction method recognized for its advantage on the shortening of construction time. This study first identified the factors that result in shortening of pre-fabrication processes in the current module-processing factory. In addition, those identified factors were further considered for installing the M.E.P. system that is being outsourced on the main module in the production line. A manufacturing process of the construction modules, which considers installation of a M.E.P. system most suitable for shortening the time on the outsourcing of modular construction, is introduced throughout the research. Furthermore, this study suggests the factors in need of improvement during design phase of modular construction and improvement measures to consider the quality of unit modules by focusing on the module parts that are most exposed to defects.

  • Estimated construction cost is an important index to secure an optimal budget which needs to go into construction projects in the previous of basic design phase. In order for public institutions to calculate the estimated construction cost, the cost per unit area of public buildings is used. However, the current calculation method of the estimated construction cost in public buildings is impossible to reflect the characteristics of many facilities and combinations. The purpose of this study is to develop an estimation model in the previous of basic design phase for the elementary, middle and high school facilities. it is expected that it is possible to estimate the construction cost of the elementary, middle and high schools in a reasonable and reliable manner through the estimation model developed in this study.

  • In this research, we embarked on a meticulous analysis of the challenges inherent in real-world scenarios relating to the durability design standards of engineered concrete structures and the assessment of carbonation durability in concrete guidelines. Our investigation brought to light substantial issues concerning constructability and quality assurance. The genesis of these problems is the exclusive application of prescribed strength to exterior walls, neglecting other elements to facilitate smoother licensing procedures. While this methodology aims to mitigate financial constraints in alignment with enhanced standards, it invariably invites complications. Furthermore, it is imperative to resolve the uncertainty surrounding durability evaluations by establishing a clear and definitive objective. Alongside this, actionable steps must be formulated to forestall the emergence of fissures between the floors of residential buildings, particularly apartment complexes. It is equally essential to tackle issues connected to application by devising a comprehensive management strategy for potential cracking during the phase of maintenance.

  • 우리나라의 건설산업은 70년대에서부터 지금까지 압축된 경제성장 과정을 거치면서 인구의 도시 집중화 현상에 따른 엄청난 물량의 아파트 건설로 숨가쁘게 물량 공급에만 급급해 왔지 상대적으로 건설시공의 효율성과 합리적인 건설관리에는 소홀하여 왔다. 이는 곧 반복되는 부실시공과 대형 건설재해를 유발시켜 건설업에 대한 대중적인 이미지 실추는 물론 품질과 안전관리가 국가적인 위신문제로까지 대두되게 되었다. 이러한 시접에서 건설산업의 문제점을 풀어나가기 위한 개선책으로 등장하게 된 것이 CM이라고 생각한다. CM을 통하여 설계와 시공을 통합관리하고 현장 시공과정에 내포되어 있는 부실 요인을 찾아내어 제거하고 시정조치하고 이를 유사 Project에 Feed-back시킴으로써 점진적인 향상(Progressive Improvement)을 이루어내며 제약된 자원을 효율적으로 이용하여 원가를 절감함으로써 건설산업의 경쟁력을 강화시켜 나가는 것이 곧 CM 활용의 효과라 할 수 있을 것이다. 본 논문은 15년간 현장소장(Project Manager)의 경험을 바탕으로 CM기법을 건설현장에 적용 사례한 결과를 정리한 것이다.

  • 본 연구는 개방형 BIM 환경의 품질관리 기준 확보를 목적으로 건설 산업의 공통업무분야와 추가적인 세부업무분야에 대한 품질관리 체크리스트를 제안하고자 한다. 공통업무는 일반적인 목적으로 적용 가능한 설계기준, 시설기준, 시공기준으로 대상을 분류하고, 세부업무는 초고층 건축물의 개방형 BIM적용 및 활용 목적에 따라 피난동선 검토, 에너지 분석 검토 측면으로 대상을 분류하여 각 분야 별 체크리스트를 도출하였다. 도출된 체크리스트가 검증을 통해 실무에 적용되면 BIM 모델의 작성 기준 및 지침과 연계되어 요구되는 조건들을 충족시키는 모델링을 유도하며 BIM 모델의 품질향상의 결과를 가져다 줄 것이라 기대한다.

Framework and Core Competency of Integrated Design Management (IDM) (통합설계관리의 개념적 틀 및 역량강화 요소 - 건축과 플랜트를 중심으로 -)

  • Recent diversification of project delivery systems coupled with increasing mega-projects requires highly advanced construction management techniques. Among those techniques, procurement and design management are recognized as being the first priority for overseas construction projects. Nevertheless, previous research in design management has been limited to the quality management of the design documents at design stage. Therefore, it is necessary to explore the design management from a comprehensive perspective throughout the project life cycle. In this context, the purpose of this paper is to propose a conceptual framework for integrated design management (IDM). Several different concepts in relation to design management were investigated first in order to identify the major variables of the IDM framework. A comprehensive comparison of construction management methodologies was also analyzed in order to identify key factors of IDM. Finally, an IDM framework was proposed by combining those factors and relevant issues. Based on the proposed framework, a survey was conducted in order to validate the framework as well as to identity important areas for improving competitive capability of Korean construction companies.
