  • The purpose of this study is to propose an curriculum for architectural studio in university to implement BIM process, through the analysis of the advantages of the BIM tool. The limitation of this study was to analyze the case study of only half year a single university. University education in the design process, the design that can be used in applying BIM content should be universal, university education considering the special working conditions, excessive BIM-based application can be difficult. Therefore, a systematic and reliable design that can be applied to education applies BIM design process is necessary to establish. University education applying BIM design review and design proposal the various 3D visualization can be used effectively to determine. In addition, the planned representation for thinking about and drawing 3D model building, architectural space can be used for visualization, and other subjects in conjunction with structural analysis, environmental analysis, facility layout, etc. can be used.

  • BIM was activated by applying it necessarily to the government ordered construction of more than a certain amount of money in architecture and construction field of Korea before and after 2010. An architectural education using BIM at college in Korea has been doing in accordance with this trend but is not too different from the existing interior design studio. Also, a new design curriculum based on BIM that provides a digital design concept and a digital working environment is increasingly being demanded in modern society. A digital-based design process is required not only in the field of architecture but also in the field of interior. Therefore, this study suggests the prototype of the interior design studio based on the field practice can apply BIM design, not the unfamiliar interior design studio pursued in the field practice to understand easily the environment of interior design process BIM is essentially seeking.

  • As the BIM designing technology has been applied recently in the construction field, architectural design education in the field of work and university has been changing to 3D modeling. Nevertheless, architectural design & drafting education in the construction specialized vocational high school is not responding appropriately to change. Despite the fact that students need to have 3D modeling design ability, there is a very lack of 3D housing design instructional material that can satisfy the change. The purpose of this study is to develop BIM-based 3D modeling instruction material and apply to analyze effect on interest and task performance ability on Housing Design. The 3D modeling instruction material used in this study was developed through four stages of preparation, development, implementation and evaluation according to the PDIE model procedure. Also, the experimental design model for hypothesis testing was used nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design. Based on the experimental design model, BIM-based 3D modeling instruction material was performed in the experimental group and 2D CAD-based standard instruction material was taught in the control group. Experimental treatment was conducted on the students of construction specialized vocatinonal high school, and applied to the subject of Professional Drafting in the 12 hours. Before and after the experimental treatment, the interest and task performance ability on Housing Design were tested. Based on the test results, we analyzed the effects of the 3D modeling instruction material through the independent samples t-test. The results of the study are as follows. First, BIM-based 3D modeling instruction material was developed of 'Housing Design & Drafting' unit on the subject of Professional Drafting in construction specialized vocational high school.

  • This study investigates how students perceive landscape design studio classes and provides basic data to set guidelines for future student-oriented pedagogical strategies in landscape architectural design education. This study is based on the premise that the current dominant educational method, which is based on positivism, should shift to a constructivist approach, which allows students to question objective and absolute truths and restructure knowledge based on their own experiences. Unlike lecture-oriented classes, studio education relies heavily on the perceptions, attitudes, and capabilities of individual students because the nature of the class asks each student to find solutions to given project problems in creative and visual ways. Therefore, it is important to understand the psychological state of students during these classes in order to set alternative criteria for design studio education. This study contains three parts. The first part reviews theoretical discourses to understand the demands for a student-oriented educational paradigm shift and the nature of the design studio at many levels. The second part analyzes how students perceive design studio classes in terms of their satisfaction and stress levels and how studio classes affect their decision making regarding future careers. The stress levels accompanying the design process are also investigated, based on a survey of undergraduate students who are enrolled in the landscape architecture programs of four universities in Korea. According to the findings, design studio classes play a specific role in students' decision making about their future careers. Almost half of students turn out to be dissatisfied with their design education, and half of students suffer from high stress levels caused by studio classes, especially in the early phases of the design process. The findings suggest that instructors should give more attention to discovering ways to help students initiate the design process and bridge ideas and forms, provide clear guidelines for evaluation of students' abilities, and develop a more holistic approach in design studio classes that is based on individual problem-solving processes.

  • In recent years, space planning ability using 3D sketch software is required in the working field of interior design. However, vocational high school do not respond appropriately to changes in the industry, because the class of vocational high school consists of hands-on practical classes and 2D CAD based classes. There is a shortage of 3D sketch software-based instruction programs that can improve students' spatial planning skills. Therefore, this study is to develop instruction program using 3D sketch software for 'Planning for Residential Space' unit of NCS-based on interior design subject and to find out the effect on students' academic achievement by applying to vocational high school class. The 3d sketch software based instructional program developed in this study was developed through four stages of preparation, development, implementation and evaluation according to the PDIE model process. The experimental design model used nonequivalent group posttest-only design in this study. Experiments were conducted on vocational high school students in construction and 9 hours of interior design subjects were applied. After the experiments, students were tested for academic achievement in the cognitive, affective, and psychomotor areas. As a result, the instruction program using the 3d sketch program developed in this study was found to be more effective in improving students' academic achievement than existing manual instruction program in both cognitive, affective, and psychomotor areas.

  • Most of the existing game-based education programmes for lower grades are simple block-coding studies, and there is a lack of examples of programming-intensive classes. In this study, we implemented a Minecraft-based Python coding fundamentals class for 3 classes at a local elementary school during a 2-week school holiday. The learning programme was reorganised from the standard learning programme on the official website, such as building quests through LAN-PARTY and self-scripting in-game, to improve class interest and motivation. In addition, we analysed the satisfaction and preferences of the class topics through a survey, and obtained meaningful results for future educational program development. This study is significant as a basic research for the design and development of game-based educational programmes for all age groups.
