Predictive Analytics Model for Death Accidents in Building Projects by Trade - Based on Decision Tree- (PA기법을 이용한 건축공사 공종별 사망사고 예측모델 개발에 관한 연구 - 의사결정나무를 중심으로 -)

  • Compared with other industries, construction industry shows a higher rate of death accidents and recently companies' legal responsibilities are to be increasingly enforced. The trend causes tremendous concerns for construction firms and increases the importance of forecasting and pro-actively managing death accidents in construction fields. The objective of the study is to develop a predictive analytics model for forecasting death accidents in building projects based on a decision tree technique, which enables to forecast the probabilities of death accidents by trade. The use of the model helps to decrease risks of legal punishments and to assist the safe execution of building projects by forecasting and pro-actively managing death accidents.

Development of Smart Safety Sensors to Prevent Falling and Contact Accidents at Construction Sites (건설현장의 추락 및 접촉사고 방지를 위한 스마트 세이프티 센서 개발)

  • According to the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency's (KOSHA) report on industrial accident statistics over the past four years, the number of casualties at construction sites from 2017 to June 2020 was about 93,158 and the number of deaths was about 1,977, showing a high trend of safety accidents among the eight major occupational groups, with the construction industry ranking third in total and the death rate being the highest in total. Among them, the number of deaths caused by falls in the entire occupational category is about 1,267, the highest rate of deaths due to contact is about 522, which is a frequent safety accident among the top three accident types. This paper aims to help reduce the overall proportion of construction safety accidents by developing smart safety sensing devices using ultrasonic sensors to prevent two types of safety accidents, which have the highest rate of occurrence among various types of safety accidents occurring at construction sites.

  • 건설은 경제 발전과 일자리 창출에 중요한 역할을 담당하고 있다. 그러나, 건설 산업은 타 산업에 비하여 고위험 산업으로, 매년 많은 사고와 재해가 발생하고 있다. 노동부 중대산업재해감독과에 따르면 2022 년 재해조사 대상 사망사고 발생 현황 발표 결과, 건설 사고 사망자는 341 명으로, 전체 산업재해 사망사고자의 53%를 차지하고 있다. 최근 사회 변화와 다양한 경기 변동, 물가 상승에 따라 건설 공사 비용 절감을 위한 안정성 결여, 시공 품질 관리의 어려움, 근로자 안전 의식 부족 등의 문제가 심화되고 있다. 이에 따라, 건설 현장의 근본적인 안전문화의 정착과 함께, 첨단 ICT 기술을 활용한 지능형 건설 안전관리 시스템의 구축이 필요한다. 그리고, 건설안전관리를 위한 스마트 건설 안전관리통합관제시스템(SCMS)의 기능과 적용 범위를 더욱 확대함으로써 건설 현장의 안전사고 예방을 개선할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다. 이를 위해 지속적인 다양한 연구와 데이터 수집과 분석 등 기술적인 연구와 함께 법과 제도에 대한 개선 논의가 필요하다.

  • Recently, buildings have become larger, more complex, and various construction methods have been tried. As a result, the use of construction equipment continues to increase, as well as safety accidents. According to the Ministry of Employment and Labor's report on industrial accidents, the rate of deaths caused by construction equipment among construction accidents has been increasing steadily since 2009. In the safety field of other industries such as crime and traffic, research has been continuously conducted to develop quantitative indicators due to demands for development of evaluation indicators or risk index development. On the other hand, construction equipment has been studied to analyze disaster cases and come up with improvement measures, but there is no research related to risk index. Therefore, the research will develop a quantitative index that can determine the risk level of construction equipment in the field based on the accident case and verify the possibility of use in the field.

  • According to the Ministry of Employment and Labor's statistics on occupational fatalities in South Korea, more than half of the fatalities in the past five years have occurred in the construction industry. The stuck-by and caught-in-between accidents associated with construction equipment is the major source of fatalities from construction sites. In order to prevent such accidents in construction sites, the government has spent lots of efforts including proposing the "special law on construction safety" and encouraging the implementation of new technology for accident prevention. However, numerous accidents are still occurred at construction sites and further efforts are still required. In this manner, this study developed a collision prevention technique that can prevent collision between equipment and worker by recognizing location and type of the nearby objects through ultrasound scanning. The study conducted a pilot experiment and the analysis results demonstrate the feasibility of achieving high performance in both object recognition and location estimation. The developed technique will contribute to prevent collision accidents at construction sites and provide the supplemental knowledge on developing automated collision prevention system for construction equipment.

  • 고용노동부가 최근 발표한 '2010년 건설재해 발생현황'에 따르면 지난 한 해 건설업종에서 발생한 재해자수는 2009년(20,998명)보다 1,504명이 증가한 22,502명으로 나타났다. 사망자수는 2009년(606명)과 비교해 32영 감소한 574명으로 조사됐다. 종합해보면 작년 한 해 동안 건설현장에서 매일 61명이 다치고, 이틀에 3명씩 사망한 셈이다. 이처럼 사고 발생률이 매우 높은 건설현장의 재해문제는 그동안 꾸준히 화두가 되어왔다 특히 건설현장의 사고 대부분은 대형사고로 직결 된다는데에서 볼 때 건설현장의 사고는 언제나 사회적으로 큰 이슈를 받아왔다. 그렇다면 건설현장에서의 사고를 대비하기 위해서는 어떤 것이 가장 중요할까. 단연 추락사고에 대한 예방이 가장 필요할 것으로 보인다.

  • 기술발전에 따라 건설현장은 스마트 안전관리기술을 활용한 안전관리의 변화가 예고되고 있다. 중대재해처벌법 시행(22.1.27)이후 50인 이상 사망사고는87건(96명)으로 전년 동기109건(111명)대비22건(20.2%), 15명(13.5%)감소한 것으로 나타났다(국토교통부,2022). 반면에 단순비교지만 일본0.14%, 미국0.37%, 영국0.03%에 비해 한국의 재해율이 높으므로 다양한 안전관리활동의 과제가 남아 있다. 이에 아차사고 유형이 건설현장 특성간의 민감도모델 제시를 기반으로 근본적인 재해관리가 연구의 목적이다. 이를 이루기 위해 국토교통부의 아차사고 발굴데이터를 분석하여 유형을 분류하고, 공사기간, 공사규모, 신체부위 등의 요인간의 아차사고 민감성요인에 대하여 Bayesian Network를 이용하여 아차사고에 영향을 주는 모델링을 제시하고자 한다.

  • 이동식크레인은 높은 사망률에 기여하는 기계로 최근 6년간(2016~2021) 사고사망사례 중 건설업 2,574건을 분석한 고위험 요인(SIF)정보에서 이동식크레인의 사고는 총 61건의 재해가 발생하였다. 현장의 안전대책에도 불구하고 제대로 활용이 안되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 표준 리스크 평가 지수를 제시하여 사고예방에 기여하고자 한다

Developement and Application of Patent Technology for the Improvement of Scaffolding Safety Facilities in Small-scale Muliti-Family Housing System for the Prevention of Severe Disasters (중대재해 예방을 위한 소규모 공동주택 시스템비계 안전시설물 개선 특허기술 개발 및 활용)

  • According to the official letter of the Ministry of Employment and Labor (recent guidance on the status of deaths in the construction industry and thorough safety management, April 4, 2022), 17 deaths occurred in construction works worth more than 5 billion won until March 31, 2022. In terms of the size of the construction, 7 cases of 5 billion won to 12 billion won, 5 cases of 12 billion won to 80 billion won, and 5 cases of more than 80 billion won occurred. The causes of death accidents were found to be nine cases (50%), five cases (28%), two cases of collapse (11%), one case of entrapment (5%), and one case of drowning (5%). Safety facilities need to be strengthened to reduce deaths caused by falling, which accounts for most of the deaths, and if fall prevention nets, openings, and safety rails are completely installed, most falling accidents can be prevented. Therefore, this paper intends to present cases of development and use of patent technology through improvement of safety facilities in order to prevent accidents corresponding to the fall of new urban living housing sites, which are small apartment houses.
