Automatic Extraction of Building Height Using Aerial Imagery and 2D Digital Map (항공사진과 2차원 수치지형도를 이용한 건물 고도의 자동 추출)

  • Efficient 3D generation of cultural features, such as buildings in urban area is becoming increasingly important for a number of GIS applications. For reconstruction or 3D building in urban area aerial images, satellite images, LIDAR data have been used mainly. In case of automatically extracting and reconstructing of building height using single aerial images or single satellite images, there are a lot of problems, such as mismatching that result from a geometric distortion of optical images. Therefore, researches or integrating optical images and existing 2D GIS data(e.g. digital map) has been in progress. In this paper, we focused on extracting of building height by means or interest points and vortical line locus for reducing matching points. Also we used digital plotter in order to validate for the results in this study using aerial images(1/5,000) and existing digital map(1/1,000).

A Study on True Ortho-photo Generation Using Epipolar Geometry and Classification Algorithm (에피폴라 기하와 군집화 알고리즘을 이용한 정밀 정사투영영상 제작에 관한 연구)

  • This study introduces the method of detecting and restoring occlusion areas by using epipolar algorithm and K-means classification algorithm for true ortho-photo generation. In the past, the techniques of detecting occlusion areas are using the reference images or information of buildings. But, in this study the occlusion areas can be automatically detected by using DTM data and exterior orientation parameters. The detected occlusion areas can be restored by using anther images or the computed values which are determined in K-means classification algorithm. In addition, this method takes advantages of applying epipolar algorithm in order to find same location in overlapping areas among images.

  • The descendants have a responsibility to conserve their cultural treasure and hand it down to posterity. Most of existing wooden properties, affected by environmental factors for many years, have been rebuilt or repaired many times. Kwandeogjeong, Cultural Properties Materials 322, has gone through rebuilding or repairing 11 times. It was natural that Kwandeogjeong lost its originality and attempt to restore it was made by Cultural Heritage Administration of Korea. But the restoration depends on a piece of picture, which was taken before 1900. It had been impossible to draw any data from the picture for restoration. In this study, I was able to obtain data for its restoration through geometrical analysis, using the vanishing point of the picture. These data were also used as preliminary data for its restoration.

A Legal Study on Boundary Relocation Surveying (경계복원측량에 관한 법적 고찰)

  • When a boundary dispute occurs between landowners of adjoining lands, a court deals with a boundary violation on the basis of cadastral register. Boundary relocation surveying is one which reconstructs a boundary in cadastral register on actual land. Boundary relocation surveying includes most of surveyings related with the civil case such as restoration of land and demolition of building and a surveying result affects a ruling critically. However, boundary relocation surveying depends on surveying technician's knowledge and experiences and can lead to different surveying results. This study reviews legal principles of boundary relocation surveying by analyzing law practice of boundary relocation surveying which is used for solving a boundary dispute between landowners of adjoining lands and by examining related laws and Supreme Court precedents. The study seeks to contribute to consistent and reliable results of surveying by leading surveying technician to carry out a boundary relocation surveying on the basis of judicial doctrines.

A Study on the Restoration of Chimi Excavated the Wangheungsa Temple Site using 3D Scanning and Computer Numerical Control (3차원 스캐닝과 컴퓨터 수치 제어 기술을 이용한 왕흥사지 출토 치미의 복원 연구)

  • The chimi(ridge-end tile) of Wangheungsa temple is the oldest in our country. The upper part of the chimi was excavated from the southern side of Wangheungsa temple and the lower part from the northern side. These parts are considered to be portions of the same chimi, because they are similar in shape and are excavated from two sides of the same temple structure. However, the original shape of the chimi cannot be determined owing to substantial deterioration. Hence, in this study, replicas of the deteriorated chimi portions of Wangheungsa temple were fabricated by employing 3D scanning technology and the computer numerical control machining method. While observing the bending phenomenon of the chimi, the proposed model was warped realistically on the basis of the bending direction of the actual chimi. Consequently, the restoration process was modified several times. The results indicated that no gaps can be found between the upper and lower parts, and the corresponding patterns connect naturally. Furthermore, the proposed method is contactless, safe, operable, reproducible, and appropriate for restoration of artifacts. Additionally, the modeling data is semi-permanent. Hence, if modelling data is appropriately applied as per the characteristics of artifacts, it can be utilized in various fields such as virtual exhibitions, hands-on exhibitions, cultural heritage restoration, and production of teaching aids and souvenirs.

Performance Analysis for Compression of Satellite Image Data using the Wavelet Transform (웨이브렛을 이용한 고해상도 인공위성 영상데이터의 압축에 관한 성능분석)

  • In this paper, we analyzed satellite image with a high resolution compression performance. We need much time in a fast processing on vast satellite image pixel data. On compressing and decompressing, we should keep the information about road, building, forest, etc. In conclusion, we did analyze and compare the performance of compression and decompression for JPEG and WSQ(wavelet scalar quantization) method. As a result, we knew that WSQ was more efficient than JPEG.

  • Three dimensional urban models are being increasingly applied for various purposes such as city planning, telecommunication cell planning, traffic analysis, environmental monitoring and disaster management. In recent years, technologies from CAD and GIS are being merged to find optimal solutions in three dimensional modeling of urban buildings. These solutions include modeling of the interior building space as well as its exterior shape visualization. Research and development effort in this area has been performed by scientists and engineers from Computer Graphics, CAD and GIS. Computer Graphics and CAD focussed on precise and efficient visualization, where as GIS emphasized on topology and spatial analysis. Complementary research effort is required for an effective model to serve both visualization and spatial analysis purposes. This study presents an efficient way of using the CAD plans included in the building register documents to reconstruct the internal space of buildings. Topological information was built in the geospatial database and merged with the geometric information of CAD plans. as well as other attributal data from the building register. The GIS network modeling method introduced in this study is expected to enable an effective 3 dimensional spatial analysis of building interior which is developing with increasing complexity and size.

Required Strength Spectrum of Low-Rise Reinforced Concrete Shear Wall Buildings with Pilotis (필로티 구조를 가진 저층 철근콘크리트 전단벽식 건물의 요구내력 스펙트럼)

  • The main purpose of this study is to provide a basic information for the seismic capacity evaluation and the seismic design of low-rise reinforced concrete (RC) shear wall buildings, which are comprised of a pilotis in the first story. In this study, relationships between strengths and ductilities of each story of RC buildings with pilotis are investigated based on the nonlinear seismic response analysis. The characteristics of low-rise RC buildings with pilotis are assumed as the double degree of freedom structural systems. In order to simulate these systems, the pilotis is idealized as a degrading trilinear hysteretic model that fails in flexure and the upper story of shear wall system is idealized as a origin-oriented hysteretic model that fails in shear, respectively. Stiffness properties of both models are varied in terms of story shear coefficients and structures are subjected to various ground motion components. By analyzing these systems, interaction curves of required strengths for various levels of ductility factors are finally derived for practical purposes. The result indicates that the required strength levels derived can be used as a basic information for seismic evaluation and design criteria of low-rise reinforced concrete shear wall buildings having pilotis structure.

A Study on the Original Position of Wibongmun and Joyangru and Signboard Handwriting in the Chuncheon (춘천 위봉문(威鳳門)·조양루(朝陽樓)의 원위치 비정과 현판 글씨 고찰)

  • This study aims to investigate the original position, the writer of signboard handwriting and the period of Wibongmun and Joyangru in order to restore Wibongmun and Joyangru which have been designated as tangible cultural properties (有形文化財). They also have to be moved in the Gangwon Provincial Office. Wibongmun and Joyangru were established as government offices in chuncheon(春川官衙) and they were used as attached buildings in Chunceon (春川離宮) in 1890. Wibongmun was moved to Gangwon Provincial Office 5 times and Joyangru was moved twice. In order to move them back to the original place, by using the topographic map made by the Japanese Government-General in Korea, we find out Joyangru was located in the exit of Gangwon Provincial Office and greenhouse and we also figure out Wibongmun was located in the garden. While we study historical evidence on handwriting, we also find out the handwriting of Joyangmun was written by Songhaong (松下翁) Jo, Yun-Hyeong (曺允亨). Especially, Joyangru had played a role as a government office and it may be called 'Joyangru' after reconstructing 'Joyangmun' when attached buildings were established. Through this study, we found that the first period and reason of establishing Wibongmun and Joyangru was at least before 1788. Through this study, we can find the period of both and its historic meaning more clearly.

Effects of Several Soil Medias on the Plant Growth in Artificial Planting Ground (인공지반용 식재용토의 배합이 목본식물의 생장에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was aimed to develope appropriate soil media for the growth of Rhododendron hybrid $J_{ASANHONG}$ on the artificial ground five types of soil media was tested such as "sandy loam-general soil (T1)", "vermiculite-artificial soil (T5)", "sandy loam 50% + vermiculite 30% + sand 20% (improved of soil 2-T2)", "sandy loam 50% + carbonized rice hust 30% + sand 20% (improved of soil 3-T3)", "sandy loam 50% + humus sawdust 30% + sand 20% (improved of soil 4-T4)". The result of the research are as follows. 1. Among the type of soil media, the sandy loam(T1) soil type gave the worst effects on growth of above ground parts(height, No. of leaf, width of leaf, No. of flowering, dry weight of upper parts) and under ground parts(dry weight of roots). 2. Vermiculite(T5) showed the highest root growth(dry weight of roots). it seemed to be caused high saturated hydraulic conductivity and porosity. As a result, there is much available space for enabling the root spreads. 3. "sandy loam 50% + vermiculite 30% + sand 20%(improved of soil 2-T2)", "sandy loam 50% + carbonized rice hust 30% + sand 20%(improved of soil 3-T3)" showed good effects on growth of above ground parts and under ground parts compared with sandy 10am(T1) 4. "sandy loam 50% + humus sawdust 30% + sand 20% + (improved of soil 4-T4)" showed the highest effects on growth of above ground parts.
