Data were used from the 6th (2015) of the National Health and Nutrition Survey. Among the study participants were 2,146 smokers and 132 strokers. Data were analyzed using SPSS ver. 21.0. The findings of the study were as follows: strokes increased the odds ratio 1.7 times(p<0.001) when smoking was performed, and the risk factors for strokes caused by smoking were statistically significant in age(p=0.008, p=0.10), education level(p=0.003, p=0.008), hypertension(p<0.001), and subjective health conditions(p=0.008). Therefore, it is necessary to develop health education contents using smart devices and a consistent national health policy to reduce the occurrence and risk of stroke.

The research utilized raw data from the 18th Youth Health Behavior Online Survey (2022), focusing on 530 participants who reported experiencing heavy drinking in the past 30 days. The study applied weighted composite sample analysis, incorporating frequency, chi-square test, and logistic regression to examine the data. According to the research findings, experiences of heavy drinking showed statistically significant differences across variables such as gender, academic achievement, economic status, sexual experience, and smoking. Additionally, among the mental health characteristics, stress perception, depression, loneliness, suicidal thoughts, suicide planning, and suicide attempts were identified as influencing factors on heavy drinking experiences. These results underscore the need for prevention programs addressing alcohol consumption habits, considering the mental and physical health of adolescents. Developing programs that take into account the relationship between mental health and drinking habits can contribute to forming healthy lifestyle habits during adolescence.

  • The purpose of this study is to create a hypothetical model that explains and predicts oral health promotion behavior of adolescents by reviewing preceding literature on Pender's Health Promotion Model, and to verify the model's validity and proposed hypothesis through PLS (partial least square) structural equation model analysis. This study was cross-sectional survey consisted of self-administration questionnaires. The subjects in this study were a total of 293 alternative high school students in Jeollabuk-do Province. They were selected by convenience sampling. In alternative high school students, perceived benefit, locus of control, self-efficacy, and self-esteem had an effect on their oral health promoting behavior. As a result of the indirect effects in black is subjectively good subjective oral health, oral health related behaviors well past the more oral health promotion behavior showed a high. The prediction model of oral health promotion for adolescences, which was made using Pender's Health Promotion Model, was considered to be useful in explaining and predicting alternative high school students oral health promotion behavior.

  • Purpose: Given that the indicators related to chronic diseases are important to evaluating goals of the national health policy, the aim of this study was to develop dietary behavior items available in the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. Methods: The dietary behavior items were developed based on the literature reviews, need assessment of the field, expert focus-group interviews, and expert advisory meeting. Questions for each dietary behavior item were developed by reflecting on environmental, personal, and behavior factors of the ecological frame and then revised through expert focus-group interview and expert advisory meeting. The understanding and reliability of the developed questionnaire were assessed by cognitive interview and test-retest reliability. Results: The developed items were sodium and salt intake, added and simple sugar intake, enough time to consume a meal for all ages, caffeine drinks and fresh/healthy food intake for children and adolescents, and limited dietary intake, fresh/healthy food intake for seniors. In most questions except some questions on sodium and salt intake, subjects understood over 70% and consistency of responses based on the kappa values was acceptable. Conclusion: Developed dietary behavior items are expected to be useful for evidence-based nutrition policy, interventions and research targeting dietary patterns through investigating and monitoring dietary behavior patterns.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine which factors determine fall experience among Korean elderly. To achieve this purpose, it uses the Korean Longitudinal Study of Aging(KLoSA), wave 1 and 2. Participants aged 65 from wave 1 were selected. From wave 2, a dependent variable was selected and it was fall experiences since the first interview in 2006. Other than this variable, all independent variables were selected from wave 1. In analyses, x2 or t-test were conducted to examine whether independent variables significantly differ between falls and no falls. Then, since a dependent variable consisted of two categories-falls or no falls, multiple logistic regressions were run. Female, using hearing aid, having two diseases, having three or more diseases, depression, and exercise 5 times/a week or more elevated the odds ratios of fall experience. compared to their reference categories. Particularly, if Korean elderly had three or more diseases or depression, their likelihood of fall experience would have about 2 times higher than their reference categories. In conclusion, health practitioners should make the elderly be recognized how much these risk factors are important to falls. Also, Korean government should support Korean elderly having these risk factors to prevent them from falling.
