This paper represents a comparison the difference between existence and nonexistence of soundproof trees for road traffic noise. Also we suggested that the simple equation has been derived using a single regression analysis for predicting levels of $Leq_{th}$ at a given distance from a road in terms of the flow rate, the mean speed of the traffic, and the percentage of the type vehicles in the existence and nonexistence of soundproof trees. We classified a vehicle into four and analyzed contribution rate to traffic volume. As a result, the order showed as followed: light vehicle>medium vehicle>heavy vehicle>motorcycle. However, the results of analyzing contribution rate with between traffic volume and traffic noise by the each type showed as followed; Motorcycle>Light vehicle>Medium vehicle>Heavy vehicle. This study showed that the most a lof of traffic volumes of the three vehicles(light vehicle, medium vehicle and motorcycle) and heavy vehicle were existed in 67 km/h and 61 km/h of car speed, respectively. The total traffic noise to the mean car speed decreased because of the inflow a lot of traffic volumes between 2016 and 2388 in the range of 67 km/h of light vehicle speed, in traffic composition of 4.75% heavy vehicles, and 1.11% motorcycle. the final result for this study showed that statistical paired t-test for between existence and nonexistence of soundproof trees was significant(p<0.05) and the difference between daytime and night in the location of the nonexistence of plant communities with the independent sample T-test was significant(p<0.05). However, the independent sample T-test for analyzing the variance of traffic noise between daytime and night was not significant(p>0.05).
Silkworm is known to be damaged under the unfavorable environmental conditions. Recently, it has been often argued that nicotine is a main factor to affect the silkworm nutritional balance and to result in decrease of quantitative characters, and unbalance of larval nutrition. Especially in spring season, there is tendency to produce nicotine damage to silkworm fed with the mulberry leaf near to tobacco field early cultivated in mulching system. In these connections, the trial was made in the different pots placing by the different distance 10rn, 20m, 40m, and 60m in the direction of east-north from the tobacco field. Location of pot near to the tobacco fold is 40m below the tobacco Held and gradually higher than the tobacco field by 10 degree of slope. In addition, when the mulberry field is divided into two areas from the east-south to west-north, southern east zone is lowering down below 10 degree of slope and has 36% of east-south wind, 21% of south-east wind and 16% of south wind, etc. Pots are left on the mulberry field from the completion of lower part leaf harvest to just before upper part leaf harvest is completed for 32 days. Then silkworm at 4th-5th stage was fed with the leaf grown during the period and larval characters are statistically analyzed. The results are summarized as follows: 1. 10-40m distant pot statistically at the same level has the longest larval duration and 60m distant pot is. not significant at 5% level. Whole larval duration has same tendency as in the 5th larval duration. 2. Percentage of delayed molting larvae at the 5th stage is increased in 10m distant pot and there is no significance statistically in other pots, as compared with that of control. 3. It is not showed that there is no damage to mortality of the old larvae in 60m distant pot. 4. 10-20m distant pot produces a low pupation and others are at the same level statistically at 5% significance, 5. It is showed that nicotine damage is occurred in single cocoon freight and cocoon shell weight up to 60m distant pot, rather higher damage in cocoon shell weight than in single cocoon weight. 6. It is showed that cocoon yield from 10, 000 molted larvae including double cocoon is decreased up to 40m distant pot far from the tobacco field in which 40% of cocoon yield in 10m distant pot by 7kg, 26% of cocoon yield in 20m distant pot by 3.9kg, 24% of cocoon yield in 40m distant pot by 3.6kg, and 12% of cocoon yield in 60m distant pot by 1.8kg, as compared with control. However, there is no significance statistically at 5% level in 60m distant pot. With these above results, it is concluded that nicotine da mage could be occurred in cocoon yield and cocoon quality up to 60m distant far from the tobacco field.
Purpose :To develop a method for verifying a treatment setup in stereotactic radiotherapy by ma- tching portal images to DRRs. Materials and Methods : Four pairs of orthogonal portal images of one patient immobilized by a thermoplastic mask frame for fractionated stereotactic radiotherapy were compared with DRRs. Portal images are obtained in AP (anteriorfposterior) and lateral directions with a target localizer box containing fiducial markers attached to a stereotactic frame. DRRs superimposed over a planned iso-center and fiducial markers are printed out on transparent films. And then, they were overlaid over onhogonal penal images by matching anatomical structures. From three different kind of objects (isgcenter, fiducial markers, anatomical structure) on DRRs and portal images, the displacement error between anatomical structure and isocenters (overall setup error), the displacement error between anatomical structure and fiducial markers (irnrnobiliBation error), and the displacement error between fiducial markers and isocenters (localization error) were measured. Results : Localization error were 1.5$\pm$0.3 mm (AP), 0.9$\pm$0.3 mm (lateral), and immobilization errors were 1.9$\pm$0.5 mm (AP), 1.9$\pm$0.4 mm (lateral). In addition, overall setup errors were 1.0$\pm$0.9 mm (AP), 1.3$\pm$0.4 mm (lateral). From these orthogonal displacement errors, maximum 3D displacement errors($\sqrt{(\DeltaAP)^{2}+(\DeltaLat)^{2}$)) were found to be 1.7$\pm$0.4 mm for localization, 2.0$\pm$0.6 mm for immobilization, and 2.3$\pm$0.7 mm for overall treatment setup. Conclusion : By comparing orthogonal portal images with DRRs, we find out that it is possible to verify treatment setup directly in stereotactic radiotherapy.
Objective: To investigate whether the accuracy of 3D laser scanning is influenced by the angles and number of scans. Methods: Using a 3D laser scanner, 10 manikins with facial markers were scanned at 7 horizontal angles (front view and at $20^{\circ}$, $45^{\circ}$, and $60^{\circ}$ angles on the right and left sides). Three-dimensional facial images were reconstructed by 6 methods differing in the number and angles of scans, and measurements of these images were compared to the physical measurements from the manikins. Results: The laser scan images were magnified by 0.14 - 0.26%. For images reconstructed by merging 2 scans, excluding the front view; and by merging 3 scans, including the front view and scans obtained at $20^{\circ}$ on both sides; several measurements were significantly different than the physical measurements. However, for images reconstructed by merging 3 scans, including the front view; and 5 scans, including the front view and scans obtained at $20^{\circ}$ and $60^{\circ}$ on both sides; only 1 measurement was significantly different. Conclusions: These results suggest that the number and angle of scans influence the accuracy of 3D laser scanning. A minimum of 3 scans, including the front view and scans obtained at more than $45^{\circ}$ on both sides, should be integrated to obtain accurate 3D facial images.
Background: Surgical correction of the full spectrum of esophageal atresia with tracheoesophageal fistula has improved over the years, but the mortality and morbidity assoiated with repair of these anomalies still remains high. Material and Method: We retrospectively analyzes 27 surgically treated patients with esophageal atresia and tracheoesophageal fistula at Dong-A University Hospital between January 1992 and March 1997. Result: There were 21 male and 6 female patients. Mean birth weight was 2.62$\pm$.385 kg(2.0~3.4 kg). Twenty- four(88.9%) had esophageal atresia with distal tracheoesophageal fistula, and 3(11.1%) had pure esophageal atresia. Four(14.8%) infants were allocated to Waterston risk group A, 18(66.7%) to group B, and 5(18.5%) to group C. In eighteen(66.7%) infants with associated anomalies, cardiovascular anomalies were the most common. Three had a gap length of 3.5 cm or greater(ultra-long gap) between esophageal segments, 7 had 2.0 to 3.5 cm(long gap), 8 had 1.0 to 2.0 cm(medium gap), and 9 had 1 cm or less(short gap) gap length. Among 27 neonates, 3 cases underwent staged operation, late colon interposition was done in 2, and all other 24 cases underwent primary esophageal anastomosis. Oerative mortality was 2/27(7.4%). Causes of death included acute renal failure(n=1), empyema from anastomotic leak(n=1), necrotizing enterocolitis(n=1), sepsis(n=1), insulin-dependent diabetus mellitus(n=1 . There were 4 anastomosis- related complications including stricture in 3, leakage in 1. Mortality was related to the gap length(p<.05). Conclusion: Although the complication rate associated with surgical repair of these anomalies is high, this does not always implicate the operative mortality. The overall survival can be improved by effective treatment for combined anomalies and intensive postoperatve care.
Genetic divergence and phylogenetic relationships among the major Korean fireflies (Hotaria papariensis, Luciola lateralis, and Pyrocoelia rufa) were studied. A portion of mitochondrial COI (403 bp) and 165 rRNA (490~504 bp) genes were sequenced, and the GenBank-registered, homologous 165 rRNA sequences of Japanese fireflies were compared (27 species of Lampyridae, one of Lycidae, and one of Rhgophthalmidae). Greatest DNA and/or amino acid sequence divergence was found when P rufa, belonging to Lampyrinae was compared with H. papariensis and L. lateralis, both belong-ing to Luciolinae, confirming the current taxonomic status of the species. In the PAUP and PHYLIP analyses with 165 rRNA data, grouping of the two geographic samples of H. papariensis with H. tsushimana validate the use of generic name, Hotaria. Nevertheless, lack of sister-group relationship of the two geographic samples of H. papariensis renders further investigation on this group . Although the Korean and Japanese L. lateralis formed a strong monophyletic group, a substantial genetic differentiation was detected between them (2.9% of 165 rRNA gene sequence divergence). Finally, the geographic samples of Korean p. rufa strongly formed a group with Japanese p. rufa, warranting the use of generic name, Pyrocoelia, but the genetic distance observed between the Cheju-Island individual and all others requires further investigation on this subject. Summarized, this study supports the current taxonomic status of the Korean fireflies in that each respectively formed a strong monophyletic group with its own species or genus.

The purpose of this study was to elucidate the size and morphologic characteristics of maxillary primary first molars in Korean children using three-dimensional laser scanner and compare three-dimensional image with preformed stainless steel crown. Scanned three-dimensional images of dental cast taken from 132 children(male 62, female 70) by three-dimensional laser scanner(Breuckmann opto-Top HE100, INUS, Korea) were used. Mesiodistal diameter, buccolingual diameter, occlusogingival height and crown shape of each image were calculated by Rapidform 2004 program(INUS, Korea). The values were statistically compared by independent samples t-test with 95% of significant level. The results were as follows : 1. No significant difference in crown size was found between left and right maxillay primary first molar(p>0.05). 2, Significant difference in mesiodistal diameter, buccolingual diameter, buccal occlusogingival height was found between male and female (p<0.05), and crown size of male was bigger than that of female. 3. Average image of maxillay primary first molar was shaped three-dimensionally and measured. In comparison with 3M stainless steel crown, this image was similar with No.4 or No.5 SS crown in male, No.4 in female. In comparison with ILSUNG SS crown, this image was similar with No.5 in male, No.4 in female. 4 Mesiolingual line angle area, distolingual line angle area and buccogingival ridge were more obvious in average image than 3M stainless steel crown. ILSUNG SS crown was more square and had longer mesiodistal diameter than average 3D image.

The purpose of this study was to validate for GATE (Geant4 Application for Tomographic Emission) simulation by comparing the results of GATE simulation and experiment in real SPECT system. Futhermore, we want to prove that it is possible that the quantitative research of gamma camera/SPECT imaging for therapeutic radio isotope by using GATE simulation. In this study, the SPECT system on simulation referred to the parameters of Stream-R Forte version 1.2 (Philips Medical System, Best and Heerlen, Netherlands). To understand the I-131 image of gamma camera/SPECT system, we acquired the energy spectrum and measured the full width at half maximum (FWHM) which comes from line spread function (LSF) with and without scatter material in real SPECT system. And to compare with experiment, we also measured the FWHM and acquired the energy spectrum without scatter material in GATE simulation. As a result, without scatter material, the energy peak was almost same location, which are located nearby 364 keV, and other spectrum factors are same tendency in both cases. The FWHM was increased by increasing the distance of source to detector, and the error rate was approximately 3.8%. When we used the line source with scatter material, energy spectrum also indicated similar tendency in both cases. As you confirmed earlier, GATE simulation included real instrument and radioisotope characters for therapeutic radioisotope. Therefore this result that it was possible that various quantitative study for therapeutic radioisotope imaging in gamma camera/SPECT using GATE simulation.
This experiment was conducted to investigate the variation of adhering primary and secondary rachis branches of panicle in three ecotypes at National Honam Agricultural Experiment Station in 1993. Three ecotypes. Odaebyeo and Sinunbongbyeo as early-maturing type, Cheongmyeongbyeo and Changanbyeo as medium, and Dongjinbyeo and Mangeumbyeo as late-maturing type were used. The treatment were 5 planting times from May 5 to 5 July by 15 day intervals. The number of primary rachis branch in early maturing type recorded high in between May 5 and 20 May as early transplanting. Medium and late-maturing type, however, was found to be have more primary rachis branches at the late time of June 20 transplanting than at the optimum transplanting of Honam area. The number of secondary rachis branch was high between June 5 and 20 June regardless ecotypes. The rate of secondary rachis branch per primary rachis branch was increased with later transplanting time up to June 5, but showed no differences onwards. The number of grain in primary and secondary rachis branches were low in transplanting time of May 5 regardless ecotype but high in late transplanting time by July 5. Densinty of seed sets was found to be higher in late transplanting than in early transplating;early-maturing type showed high in July 5 and 20 June in medium-late maturing type respectively.
Direct seeding of rice is a time- and laborsaving method, compared to machine transplanting. However, the area planted to direct-seeded rice is decreasing because of instability of seedling establishment, lodging, occurrence of weedy rice, and deterioration of grain quality. A newly developed wet-hill-seeding of rice, a type of direct seeding method, has shown features of growth similar to machine transplanted rice. This study was carried out to compare tillering pattern, heading characteristics and grain filling traits between transplanting and wet-hill-seeding in rice. Tillering of wet-hill-seeded rice was more vigorous than that of transplanted rice showing maximum tiller number 30~100% higher than transplanted rice. Wet-hill seeded rice showed later heading and shorter heading duration than transplanted rice. To find out the relationship between heading characteristics and grain filling traits, every panicle was tagged for flowering date, and the panicles on each heading date were inspected for grain filling traits. Wet-hill seeded rice and transplanted rice exhibited no significant difference in culm length, panicle length, the percentage of grain filling and perfect brown rice on each heading date during total heading period. Therefore, we conclude that wet-hill-seeding method is not inferior to machine transplanting in terms of seedling establishment, growth, grain filling and head rice yield.
