지표환경변화 추적을 위한 훕스굴 시추사업 현황

  • 푸른 진주라 불리는 훕스굴호는 러시아 국경에 인접한 몽고 북부의 청정호수로 해발 약 1,645m 지점에 위치한다. 훕스굴호의 길이는 약 136km이고, 폭은 20-40km이며, 최대수심은 약 262m 이다. 이 호수의 물은 세계에서 가장 깨끗한 담수 중 하나로 몽고 지표수원의 약 70%를 공급하고 있다. 훕스굴호는 바이칼 열곡대내에 형성된 일종의 구조호로 약 240만년 내지 400만년전에 형성된 것으로 추정되고 있다. 훕스굴호는 자연공원으로 지정되어 보호되고 있으며, 따라서 호수의 유역은 다행스럽게도 인간활동에 오염되거나 교란되지 않아 다양하고 흥미로운 육상/수성 생물상을 보유하고 있으며, 퇴적물 기록 역시 후기 신생대 동안의 중앙아시아의 지구환경 및 기후변화 연구에 매우 적합하다. 바이칼 시추사업 (Baikal Drilling Project)은 신생대 후기 동안의 중앙아시아의 지구조진화 및 전지구적 기후변화를 규명하기 위해 미국, 러시아, 일본, 독일 등이 참여한 다국가 공동사업이다. 바이칼 시추사업 연구팀은 지난 15년간 많은 노력과 예산을 투자하여 바이칼 호로부터 총 1,600m에 이르는 방대한 양의 퇴적물 코아를 성공적으로 회수하였고, 이 시료를 이용하여 후기 신생대 동안의 중부 유라시아 대륙의 고기후/고환경 진화과정을 성공적으로 규명하였다. 바이칼 시추사업이 성공적으로 진행됨에 따라, 이 사업에 참여했던 러시아와 일본의 과학자들은 바이칼호의 서쪽에 위치한 몽고 북부의 훕스굴에도 많은 관심을 가지게 되었으며, 동시에 바이칼 시추사업의 후속사업으로 훕스굴 시추사업을 새롭게 추진하게 되었다. 한편, 대륙내부에서의 제4기 지구환경 및 기후 변화 과정에 많은 관심을 가지고 연구해 오던 한국지질자원연구원도 2003년에 정식 회원으로 훕스굴 시추사업에 합류하였다. 훕스굴 시추사업 연구팀은 몽고의 지질광물자원연구소 (대표연구기관), 러시아의 지구화학연구소, 일본의 나고야대학교 그리고 한국의 지질자원연구원 등 4개국의 연구기관으로 구성되어 있다. 이들 4개 연구기관은 시추획득 및 기초연구 수행에 필요한 연구비를 현금 혹은 현물 (장비 포함)의 형태로 공동부담하고 있으며, 따라서 획득한 시추코아에 대해서도 각 연구기관이 전 구간에 대해 동일하게 25%의 소유권을 가지고 있다. 훕스굴 시추사업은 2008년까지 수행될 계획이며, 시추작업은 2005년까지 완료될 계획이다. 연구 진행과 관련하여, 공동연구의 명분을 높이고 분석의 효율성을 높이기 위해서 시료채취 및 기초자료 획득은 4개국의 연구원이 모여 공동으로 수행한 후의 결과물을 서로 공유하고, 자세한 전문분야 연구는 각 국의 대표기관이 독립적으로 수행하는 방식을 택하였다. 훕스굴에 대한 제1차 시추작업은 2004년 3월 말에 실시하였다. 시추작업 결과, 약 80m의 시추 코아가 성공적으로 회수되어 현재 러시아 이르쿠츠크 지구화학연구소에 보관중이다. 이 시추코아는 2004년 8월 중순경에 4개국 연구팀원들에 의해 공동으로 기재된 후에 분할될 계획이다. 분할된 시료는 국내로 운반되어 다양한 전문분야별 연구에 이용될 것이다. 한편, 제2차 시추작업은 2004년 12월에서 2005년 2월 사이에 실시될 계획이다. 수백만년에 이르는 장기간에 걸쳐 지구환경변화 기록이 보존되어 있는 훕스굴호에 대한 시추사업은 후기 신생대 동안 유라시아 대륙 중부에서 일어난 지구환경 및 기후변화를 이해함과 동시에 이러한 변화가 육상생태계 및 지표지질환경에 미친 영향을 이해하는데 크게 기여할 것이다.

GPR Survey for the Assessment of Scour Depth near Bridge Piers (세굴심 추정을 위한 교각 우물통 주변의 GPR 탐사)

  • 본 연구에서는 마포대교 확장 공사의 인해 일부 교각의 우물통 기초 주변 하상변화와 세굴 현상을 파악하기 위한 심도추정 방법으로 현재 다양하게 토목분야에서 적용되고 있는 치하투과레이더 탐사기법을 사용하였다. 교각 우물통 주변의 안정적인 GPR 탐사를 수행하기 위한 보조장비를 고안하여 마포대교 P6의 우물통 주변을 2004년 6월(1차)과 2004년 10월(2차)에 걸쳐 탐사를 실시하였으며, 탐사 기간 중 약 12,000 cms의 유출량이 발생하여 국부세굴과 하상 변화 가능성을 충분히 검토 할 수 있을 것으로 판단되었다. 수집된 자료를 통해 양질의 자료 획득을 위해서 자료의 보정 과정을 마친 후 각각의 구간에 대해서 1, 2차 탐사된 두 개의 자료를 비교 분석하였다. 전구간의 반사파를 이용하여 기존의 연구결과에서 얻어진 반사파의 양상(Beres and Haeni, 1991)과 비교한 결과 하상 표면은 미사 혹은 실트로 구성되어 있고 주요한 하상 하부 매질은 전석(boulder), 호박돌 등으로 이루어져 있었다. 그리고 1차 및 2차 탐사 자료와 DATAPCS의 세굴센서가 설치된 측점을 기준으로 심도 및 위치 보정을 한 결과 큰 오차는 발생하지 않았으며, 400 MHz 안테나를 활용하여 최대수심 약 10 m 이상 하상을 탐사할 수 있었다. 수심이 깊은 구간은 하상과 가까운 위치에서 탐사를 실시하여 양질의 하상 변화 양상을 파악할 수 있어 하상 재료의 정성적인 평가를 높일 수 있도록 하였다. 마포대교의 탐사 대상 교각 우물통 주변은 계획홍수량의 1/3 수준으로 비교적 적은 홍수량이 발생한 2004년의 호우사상으로 인해 일부구간이 약 $10\~20\;cm$ 정도의 퇴적과 세굴 영향이 나타난 것을 제외하고는 유의할 만한 세굴과 하상 변화가 발생하지 않고 매우 안정적인 상태를 보이고 있으며 되메움이나 두드러진 퇴적층의 양상 또한 확인할 수 없었다. 대상구간에 설치한 유속계 최대유속이 2.0 m/s 이상 발생하였지만 우물통 주변의 자갈 및 호박돌 등과 같은 평균입경이 큰 유사의 이동에 절대적인 한계유속을 초과하지 못한 것으로 판단된다. GPR 탐사의 적용 한계성을 극복한 본 연구는 홍수 전$\cdot$후의 하상변화 및 최대세굴심, 되메움 깊이 및 범위 등의 세굴현상을 현장탐사를 바탕으로 현재 다양하게 적용하고 있는 세굴 실험식과 비교 분석함으로써 우물통 주변의 효율적인 세굴 보호 대책을 강구하는 목적으로 그 활용성을 증대할 수 있을 것이다.

Laboratory Biosafety Status of Researchers in Korea (국내 연구원들의 생물안전 개념에 대한 현황)

  • This study examined the status of the laboratory biosafety of researchers in Korea during 03 Jan 2017~25 Mar 2017. Questionnaires were given out to 500 researchers working with pathogens in the laboratory of universities and institutes. According to the results, the respondents showed a high level of awareness but not compliance on the overall biosafety rules and regulations. Regarding the Biosafety facility level, 279 (55.8%) of respondents answered "know" and 221 (44.2%) of respondents answered "no". Despite the insufficient safety equipment and biosafety plans, researchers believed that appropriate safety measures could protect the workers and that their laboratories are safe. In a study involving biosafety education, 80% of the researchers had been trained in laboratory safety and 20% had never received safety education. The need for biosafety education was 66% and the satisfaction rate of education was 46%. These results suggest that the researchers already had experience in biosafety training, but they believed that continuing education is necessary. In addition, there were opinions that the most important thing to improve the biosafety status is to strengthen the training program and education system. In conclusion, it is necessary to develop a better training system for laboratory biosafety regarding the exposure risks.

Correlation between knowledge, attitudes and preventive behaviors regarding the MERS of a student in the Department of Emergency Medical Technology (응급구조(학)과 학생의 메르스에 관한 지식, 태도 및 예방행위와의 관계)

  • This study was undertaken among students majoring in Emergency Medical Technology, to comprehend the knowledge, attitudes and preventive behaviors associated with MERS. This study further provides basic data for education related to MERS prevention. A total of 167 students were enrolled in the study. Evaluation of MERS education revealed a higher number of inexperienced subjects: 74 experienced(44.3%) vs. 93 inexperienced(55.7%). Assessing the attitude items for MERS revealed that "have to wear personal protective equipment when dealing with MERS patients" ranked highest (average, 4.54 ± 0.87), whereas "washed my hands more often than usual" ranked highest (average, 3.82 ± 1.06) in the prevention items for MERS. Analyzing the correlation between attitude towards MERS and preventive behavior revealed that "canceled or delayed meeting with friends, eating out, watching sports, shopping, etc." showed that, although negatively correlated, a greater attitude showed a higher level of prevention (r=-0.63, p<0.004). Taken together, results of this study indicate the necessity to develop an education program that improves the level of education and knowledge about MERS, and to impart this education systematically and repeatedly.

Initial Risk Assessment of Acetanilide with Respect to Human Health (아세트아닐리드의 초기 인체위해성 평가)

  • Acetanilide may be released into the environment through air and wastewater from its production and use sites and exposed to human. Acetanilide is known to produce an analgesic effect and may pose adverse effects on human health by overly exposure. According to the EUSES system, acetanilide showed a high MOS (Margin of safety) value exceeding 6$\times$10$^4$ on a regional exposure, which is safe enough for public health. Whereas the lowest MOS value in dermal exposure was estimated as 3$\times$10$^{-4}$ on a local basis (workplace), the risk could be partly counteracted by taking preventive measures such as using mask and globes and good ventilation in the work places. Acetanilide may pose a potential risk for workers by dust inhalation. For the sake of health protection in the work places, additional data should be accumulated with respect to repeated dose toxicity, reproduction toxicity and developmental toxicity, etc. It is, therefore, recommended that acetanilide should be a candidate for further work to supplement the lacking data until it is proved to be safe in the occupational health aspects.

  • This paper is aims to build the advancement structural model of GICOMS through identification of required system and improvement for implementation of e-Navigation. We derived nine improvement subject for model of advanced GICOMS through the analysis of problems for GICOMS and brainstorming with expert in the maritime safety. And we analyzed the structure of nine improvement subject using by FSM(Fuzzy Structural Modeling) method, and proposed a structural model that to grasp the correlation between elements. As a result, we found out that "advancement of GICOMS" is the final goal, and "improvement a system of information production", "improvement a scheme of information providing", "linkage between GICOMS and VTS" and "building global networks for safety cooperation" are located lowest level. Especially, "advancement of GICOMS" is influenced by "advancement function of VMS" and "Activation of usage" on middle level. We suggested that utilizing state-of-the-art IT facilities, equipment and expertise to improve and enhance the user-centered transition such as maritime workers for advancement of GICOMS based on proposed structure model.

  • Digital substation refers to a substation that digitizes functions and communication methods of power facilities such as monitoring, measuring, control, protection, and operation based on IEC 61850, an international standard for the purpose of intelligent power grids. Based on the intelligent operating system, efficient monitoring and control of power facilities is possible, and automatic recovery function and remote control are possible in the event of an accident, enabling rapid power failure recovery. With the development of digital technology and the expansion of the introduction of eco-friendly renewable energy and electric vehicles, the spread of direct current distribution systems is expected to expand. MVDC is a system that utilizes direct current lines with voltage levels and transmission capacities between HVDCs applied to conventional transmission systems and LVDCs from consumers. Converting existing lines in substations, where most power equipment is alternating current centric, to direct current lines will reduce transmission losses and ensure greater current capacity. The process bus of a digital substation is a communication network consisting of communication equipment such as Ethernet switches that connect installed devices between bay level and process level. For MVDC linkage to existing digital substations, the process level was divided into two buses: AC and DC, and a system that can be comprehensively managed in conjunction with diagnostic IEDs as well as surveillance and control was proposed.

A Study on the Ransomware Detection System Based on User Requirements Analysis for Data Restoration (데이터 복원이 가능한 사용자 요구사항 분석기반 랜섬웨어 탐지 시스템에 관한 연구)

  • Recently Ransomware attacks are continuously increasing, and new Ransomware, which is difficult to detect just with a basic vaccine, continuously has its upward trend. Various solutions for Ransomware have been developed and applied. However, due to the disadvantages and limitations of existing solutions, damage caused by Ransomware has not been reduced. Ransomware is attacking various platforms no matter what platform it is, such as Windows, Linux, servers, IoT devices, and block chains. However, most existing solutions for Ransomware are difficult to apply to various platforms, and there is a limit that they are dependent on only some specific platforms while operating. This study analyzes the problems of existing Ransomware detection solutions and proposes the onboard module based Ransomware detection system; after the system defines the function of necessary elements through analyzing requirements that can actually reduce the damage caused by the Ransomware from the viewpoint of users, it supports various OS without pre-installation and is able to restore data even after being infected. We checked the feasibility of each function of the proposed system through the analysis of the existing technology and verified the suitability of the proposed techniques to meet the user's requirements through the questionnaire survey of a total of 264 users of personal and corporate PC users. As a result of statistical analysis of the questionnaire results, it was found that the score of intent to introduce the system was at 6.3 or more which appeared to be good, and the score of intent to change from existing solution to the proposed system was at 6.0 which appeared to be very high.

A Study on the Operation Plan of Powered Wheelchair and Electric Scooter Charging Station (전동휠체어 및 전동스쿠터 충전소 운영 방안 연구)

  • Recently, according to demands for a mobility right of people with disabilities, the use of powered mobility device has been rapidly increased and recharging facilities have been set up in many places of country. But the standards for the installation and management of the facilities are not clear and many problems are brought up in operating the facilities. Therefore, regulations and realities of recharging facilities were investigated and the user survey was progressed. On the basis of the research results, a rational and efficient installation and management plan was drawn up. The plan suggests that the recharging facilities should be installed in a building managed by government and many kinds of public building like library, theater, sports facilities, department store, museum, etc. Further, the recharging facilities should secure independent place which have specified area for protecting of privacy and provide some amenities for people with disabilities to enhance the conveniences.

Older Drivers' Characteristics and Optimal Number of Guide Names on Road Signs (도로표지에 대한 고령운전자의 인간공학적 특성과 적정 안내지명 개수에 대한 연구)

  • Due to the lack of judgement in an information processing on road sign, older drivers usually are having a hard time driving than young group. Furthermore, according to increasing in aging population, older drivers in Korea have been growing much faster. That means research for older drivers' characteristics and the number of guide name for road sign should be needed. In accordance with suggestions, this study was carried out the number of guide names for road sign with a variety of ages from the twenties to the seventies. For the sake of this study, statistical verification was conducted to confirm a change of speed, a reading time and a misreading rate with Driving Simulator and Electrooculogram tool. As the results of study, change of speed in the age range has shown that the higher the proportion of age, the lower the rate of velocity. Also reading time in the age range with regression analysis found that the higher the proportion of age, the higher the rate of reading time by 0.106sec. Finally, a binary logistic model was used to find the main factors. As the results, 4 number of guide names for road sign have been the best of them for older driver. The result of this study verified the importance of ideal guide numbers on road sign for older driver and proved itself to be an effective method to determine the road safety for the road signs.
