Psychological experiences of homicide victims' families: A phenomenological study (살인사건 피해 유가족의 심리적 경험에 대한 현상학적 연구)

  • This study explored the psychological experiences of surviving family members of homicide victims. Nine family members of homicide victims, who could verbalize their experiences and agree to participate, were interviewed. The time between the interview and the homicide ranged from 6 months to 4 years, and all the homicide offenders were convicted prior to the study. The interview data were analyzed to identify meanings and themes using Colaizzi's method. Results showed that 472 meaningful phrases and sentences were extracted, which were subsequently organized into 48 formulated meanings, 24 clusters of themes, 16 emergent themes, and 6 categories. The six categories were related to the homicide victim, the participant, the family members, other people/the world, the offender/the offender's family, and realistic difficulties. For each category participants' experiences were described in detail. Finally, implications and limitations of this study were discussed.

Exploring the Meaning of Teaching Experience of Middle School Physical Education Teachers (중학교 체육교사의 교직 경험 의미 탐색)

  • The purpose of this study was to explore the meaning of the teaching experience of middle school physical education teachers, listening to in-depth statements related to teaching experience based on the physical education teacher's teaching identity, and analyzing the meaningful content and meaning structure found therein. The study participants were four current middle school physical education teachers. The research method used Colaizzi's phenomenological method to analyze the meaning structure through in-depth interviews with research participants, group interviews, additional interviews, and field records. In order to solve the research questions, the interviews were conducted as semi-structured interviews, and the individual interviews were terminated when there were no more duplicate cases or similar phenomena related to teaching experience. As a result of the study, the meaning of experience was constructed based on narrative statements through interviews with research participants, and a collection of 2 items, 6 categories, and 12 themes were extracted by exploring concepts from the constructed meaning. The reasons for going into the teaching profession were categorized into 'motivation' and 'beliefs', and the meaning of teaching experience was categorized into 'mission', 'relationships', 'exhaustion', and 'overcoming'. In conclusion, although the research participants faced numerous difficulties, they experienced challenges and recovery by pursuing the joy and value of sharing within the school community.

Convergent approach of phenomenological methodology about Emergency Nurses' experience of hospital violence (응급실 간호사들의 폭력 경험에 대한 현상학적 방법론의 융합적 접근)

  • The aim of this study was to know the experience of emergency nurses on hospital violence and violence's effect on nurses via convergent approach of phenomenological methodology to be known for a good method to study alive human's experience. This study is a qualitative study converged the phenomenological methods and 5 emergency nurses participated in an in-depth interview. From the transcript, 41 significant statements, 17 clusters of theme, 6 categories were extracted. The extracted categories are violence's background, emotional response, physical response, social response, passive coping and active coping. The hospital violence's negative effect on emergency nurses occurred in various sides and the countermeasure is required to prevent violence from hospital setting anymore.

Needs Assessment of Applying Anger Management Program based on Professor-students Counseling Activity for University Students: Focus Group Interview in University Students (교수-학생 면담활동을 활용한 대학생의 분노관리 프로그램 운영에 대한 요구도 조사: 대학생 포커스 그룹 인터뷰 적용)

  • The purpose of this study was to understand and describe the demand of applying an anger management program for university students, based on professor-student counseling activity. 2016, data was collected using five focus group interviews were recorded and transcribed. All interviews were recorded and transcribed, and data were analyzed using qualitative content analysis. We extracted the following 9 categories across 3 main themes: 1) Views on applying an anger management program based on professor-student counseling activity: required or not required; 2) Competence of the professor: trust, counseling expertise, and receptive attitude; and 3) Effective program management plans: separation from the advisor or reducing the role of the advisor, program composition and contents, administrative support from the university, facilitating a supportive environment for counseling. In conclusion, enhancement can be achieved through an anger management program based on professor-student counseling activity by focusing efforts on increasing interactions between professors and students, and improving the counseling competence of professors. Additionally, administrative support from the university and steps to improve awareness in professors, students, and university authorities are necessary.

A Study on the Improvement for Evaluation of Records Management Institutions in the District Offices of Education (교육지원청 기록관리 기관평가 개선방안에 관한 연구)

  • This study examined the problems of evaluating records management institutions of District Offices of Education (DOE) and conducted literature reviews, surveys, and in-depth interviews to suggest improvement measures. This study analyzed survey questions (response rate 52.8%) of records management officers in charge of records management in 176 DOE and in-depth interviews of records managers from 15 institutions who agreed to participate. Based on the analysis of the surveys and interviews, a further interview was conducted with a records manager responsible for records management institution evaluation at the National Archives of Korea (NAK). All of the results were aggregated to derive improvement measures in the areas of evaluation environment, agents of evaluation, and evaluation policy. The results of this study can be used as references to implement evaluations for records management institutions that reflect the characteristic of each institution type.

Integrated Study on Hospitalization Stress Experience of Schizophrenic Patient (조현병 환자의 입원스트레스 경험에 대한 융합연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to understand and describe the hospitalization stress experience of patients with schizophrenia. The subjects of this study were 15 inpatients who were hospitalized in three psychiatric hospital closure wards. As a result of the study, the contents of hospitalized stress were classified into five categories, 17 sub-categories and 58 meaningful contents. The five top categories were 'missing and guilt for family', 'discomfort due to poor therapeutic environment', 'not respected of rights Patient's, 'anxiety about life after discharge', 'social prejudice and self-perceived stigma. This study has significant implications for the provision of basic data to mediate hospitalization stress of patients with schizophrenia.

An Integrative Study on The Subjective Happiness by Eating Foods in The Elderly: Focus Group Interview (노인의 음식물 섭취와 주관적 행복감: 포커스그룹 면담)

  • This qualitative analysis was conducted to analyze the effects of teeth and eating foods in the elderly on their subjective happiness based on a focus-group interview (FGI). The study subjects were 10 people over 65 years old who visited a social welfare center in D City and agreed to participate in the study. One group consisted of five members and FGIs were performed for about 40 minutes per group. Based on the study results, five topics were evaluated, status of teeth, methods of dental health control, inconvenience within mouth, eating foods, and eating foods and subjective happiness. The study subjects answered that they felt distressed and annoyed if they could only see, but not eat favorite foods and that this made them feel old. One respondent even mentioned it made them want to stop living. Based on the results of this study, it is necessary to develop customized dental health control programs by age, gender, income level, education level, and health status, and to build the specialists.

  • 본 연구의 목표는 rapid appraisal의 사용을 통한 지역사회의 건강과 사회적 요구들을 알아내고 이들의 우선순위를 파악하여 지역주민과 써비스 제공자들 사이에 활동계획을 만들기 위함이다. 자료 수집은 Rapid appraisal의 정보피라미드를 통한 primary care team에 의해 3개의 자원들인 지역사회내 기존자료들과 지역 내에서 많이 사용해왔던 반 구조화된 면담지, 방문과 크리닉을 통한 직접 관찰로 자료수집을 하였다. 반 구조화된 면담지는 pilot study하고 검증한 후 사용하였다. 자료수집 대상은 Northern General hospital내에 등록되어진 100가구의 도시영세민 주택에 거주하는 자로 하였다. 결과로 면담자 들과 focus groups은 지역사회 내 지역건강요구들을 만나고 알아내며 건강뿐만이 아닌 사회적인 많은 변화가 요구되는 건강관련 우선순위를 알아내는 첫단계로써 rapid appraisal의 사용이 유용하다. 결론적으로 Rapid appraisal은 지역사회 내 Primary care에서 muti-displinary approach를 촉진하여 건강에 영향하는 다양한 요인사정의 질적인 방법으로 변화를 위한 행동 계획을 세우는데 좋은 평가 방법으로 확인되었다.

Communication with a Physician Experienced by a Nurse in a Clinical setting : Using Focus Group Interview (임상현장에서 간호사가 경험하는 의사와의 의사소통 : 포커스그룹 면담을 이용하여)

  • The purpose of this study was to explore communication experiences with doctors experienced by nurses in clinical settings, to resolve communication difficulties, and to identify ways to communicate effectively. "What is communication with a physician experienced by a nurse? The focus of the discussion was performed with questions. The study was a qualitative study of 21 nurses with different clinical experiences using interview methods and analyzed data using the criteria of Downe-Wam bol dt. 12 Themes were reclassified to derive 4 Themes clusters. In conclusion, it is necessary to create an atmosphere of respect for doctors and nurses, and each department should be able to quickly identify and deal with communication problems. Based on the research, It is suggested that the training of communication skills be strengthened to be possible.
