The visual span refers to the number of letters that can be accurately recognized without moving one's eyes. The size of the visual span is affected by sensory factors such as perimetric complexity, crowding, and mislocation of letters. Korean Hangul utilizes rather unique alphabetic-syllabary writing system, quite different from English and Chinese writing systems. Due to this combinatorial nature of the script, the visual span for Hangul characters can also be affected by the letter type (e.g., CV vs CVCC). The present study examined the effect of syllable complexity on the visual span for Hangul by comparing letter recognition accuracy across four letter type conditions (C only, CV, CVC, and CVCC). We also aimed to determine the meaningful letter type(s) that is associated with differences in reading abilities in Korean. Using a trigram presentation method, we found that overall recognition accuracy declined as syllable complexity increased. However, the visual span for CVC type was greater than that for CV type, suggesting that the effect is not necessarily linear, and that there might be other factors affecting the visual span for these types of letters. C and CV type showed fairly strong positive correlations with reading comprehension, suggesting that these might be the meaningful units for measuring visual span in relating to reading abilities.

This study is aimed to investigate the association between web-based visual stress and MBTI personality types. The stressor deriving visual stress is built by 14 vowels out of Korean alphabet as a content and parallel striples as a background on the screen, which is given to each subject during 5min. The dependent variable indicating how much human takes visual stress is the reduction rate of flicker fusion frequency, which is evaluated with visual flicker fusion frequency tester. The independent variables are gender and 8 MBTI personality types(E-I, S-N, T-F, and J-P), and hypotheses are based on human information processing model and previous studies. The results address that the reduction rate is not significantly affected by gender, S-N, and J-P, but E-I and T-F have significant influences on it. The reduction rate in I-type is almost 2 times as much as that in E-type and T-type has the rate 2.2 times more than F-type. This study can be applicable to determine the adequate personnel for jobs requiring less sensibility to visual stressors in areas that human error may lead to critical damages to an overall system.
The whole design process drawing outputs from design planning is based on designers' intuitive ideas and differences in technical ability. However, every design professional agrees to the fact that such design process is filled with individuals' implicit acts or inherent intuition rather than following directions in a certain defined frame. If the design process based on such intuition and experience can start from the rational and scientific process, it would be possible to move more systematic design process to the next step. This study aims to examine what system of thinking are used by designers to conduct the design information process, by using the protocol analysis which is the representative qualitative study method of cognitive science, on designers' cognitive behaviors like the contents of the design sketch process which is the initial step of the kitchenware development process, in order to understand professionals' and non-professionals' design application direction. Thus, the scope of this paper would be limited to "the initial protocol analysis on kitchenware" and "encoding of the analysis on thinking" in the qualitative study that can be the most basic to understand the design cognitive science. As a procedure to solve this study question, it aimed to seek for the product development flow and the educational effect by considering the preceding researches and also re-interpreting cognitive thinking in systematic methods.
The purpose of this study was to identify the relationship among beginning early childhood teachers' role performance and self leadership, and childcare teachers's supports. The subjects in this study were 491 beginning early childhood teachers working in kindergartens and child care centers across the country. Childcare teachers' support questionnaire(Jae-Young Lee, 2012) role performance questionnaire(Bog-Mae Park, 2011), and self-leadership questionnaire(Dong-Hyen Park,2014) were used for this study. For the research analysis, frequency, Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ coefficient, ANOVA test, $Scheff{\acute{e}}$ post-hoc analysis and Pearson's correlation were calculated and regression analysis were conducted. The results are as follows. Firstly, it was revealed that there are statistically meaningful differences in beginning early childhood teachers 'role performance and self leadership, and childcare teachers's support which were related to early childhood teachers' salary, education background, and age. Also, there are statistically meaningful differences in beginning early childhood teachers' role performance and childcare teachers's support, which were related to type of child-care center role performance, but there were no differences in beginning early childhood teachers' self leadership. Secondly, childcare teachers's support have statistically meaningful positive influences on beginning early childhood teachers' role performance through the mediation of self leadership. Through this study, it is possible to provide basic information to seek ways to enhance beginning early childhood teachers' role performance and self leadership under the considerations of their individual background characteristics, and to promote the practical support for the director or colleagues.

Recently Task Group (TG) 4 of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) 802.15a has been recommended a system with ranging capability in existence of multiple Simultaneous operating piconets (SOPs) as well as low-cost, low-power. According to the ranging service, coherent and non-coherent based ranging schemes using ternary code have been adopted as a standard. However it is hard to estimate an accurate time of arrival (TOA) in case of using direct sequence based TOA estimation method because pulse repetition interval (PRI) offered by TG is more limited than the maximum excess delay (MED) of channel. To mitigate inter pulse interference (IPI) problem, this paper proposes a non-coherent TOA estimation scheme using non-periodic transmission (NPT) pattern. The proposed receiver is based on a non-coherent energy detection considering with motivation of low rate wireless personal area network (LR-WPAN). TOA information is estimated via proper comparison with a prescribed threshold after the sliding correlation and search back window (SBW) process for reducing TOA error. To verify the performance of proposed ranging scheme, two distinct channel models approved by IEEE 802.15.4a TG are considered. According to the simulation results, we could conclude that the proposed scheme have performed better performance than the conventional method on the existence of multiple SOPs.
For effective teaching-learning activities for students with diverse talents in science high schools, it is important for teachers to understand students' individual differences in perceiving and processing information in the natural world, depending on the students' various talents and subject characteristics. The purpose of this study is to examine the students' cognition of chemistry in science high school through correlations and factor analysis of mathematics/science achievement. In addition, this study attempted to examine the cognition of chemistry subject according to R&E classes. The main participants of the study were freshmen of G science high school (296 students) who entered after three times of curriculum reforms and new admission processes and the students in two other science high schools in Gyeongnam and Ulsan were included. The correlation and factor analysis were conducted by exploratory factor analysis by IBM SPSS Statistics 25 programs. The results of this study were as follows: First, in the correlation analysis between mathematics and science achievement, it was confirmed that the Pearson's coefficient of chemistry showed higher positive correlation coefficient than that of other science subjects. Second, in the factor analysis of mathematics and science achievements, it was found that the factor indicators were divided into two factors as logical-mathematical (mathematics and physics) and naturalistic (life science and earth science). Third, in the factor analysis, it was confirmed that the chemistry is recognized as the subject that requires both logical-mathematical and naturalistic intelligence. Finally, it was confirmed that students' cognitions of chemistry subject were found to differ according to the R&E classes. In other words, the participants of R&E chemistry class, unlike other students, were found to recognize chemistry as the subject that logical-mathematical intelligence is needed.
Prior research on attribution has paid much attention to cognitive processes through which people infer causes. However, surprising omission from this research stream is the role of unconscious priming of different causes in task satisfaction and re-performance intention. This research is conducted to examine how attributing to different causes (chance vs. effort) via priming procedure affects task satisfaction and re-performance intention. To do this, participants were assigned to either chance-priming or effort-priming attribution condition and asked to answer O/X quiz (Exp 1) or multiple choice questions (Exp 2). Then, we provided 'Good' or 'Bad' feedback to participants randomly regardless of their actual task results. Finally, we measured their task satisfaction and re-performance intention. Results indicate that task satisfaction is affected by the valence of feedback they received but re-performance intention is influenced by interaction between attribution priming and the valence of feedback. Specifically, when receiving 'Good' feedback, participants in effort-priming condition have higher re-performance intention than those in chance-priming condition, whereas when receiving 'Bad' feedback, participants in effort-priming condition have lower re-performance intention than those in chance-priming condition. Implications of the findings are discussed in relation to the research for induction and decision making as well as psychology of addiction.

Hardware dedicated off-the-shelf maritime differential GPS RSIM lacks the open architecture to meet all the minimum maritime user requirements and to include future GNSS improvements after recapitalization. This paper carries out a study to replace existing hardware dedicated differential GPS RSIM with software differential GPS RSIM in order to make up the weak point of hardware dedicated off-the-shelf maritime differential GPS RSIM. In this paper, the architecture of software RSIM is proposed for maritime DGPS recapitalization. And the feasibility analysis of the proposed software differential GPS RSIM is performed as the first phase to realize the proposed architecture. For the feasibility analysis, the prototype RF module and DSP module are implemented with properties as wide RF bandwidth, high sampling frequency, and high speed transmission interface. This paper shows that the proposed architecture has the possibility of real time operation of software RSIM functionality onto the PC-based platform through the analysis of computation time. Finally, this paper verifies that the L1/L2 dual frequency software differential RSIM designed according to the proposed method satisfies the performance specifications set out in RTCM paper 221-2006-SC104-STD.
While smart devices can have a positive impact on work efficiency and productivity by reducing time-space constraints and enabling rapid processing of tasks, side effects can arise from the imbalances between work and personal life. In recent years, as smart devices are increasingly used in work environments, it is more necessary than ever to understand the related phenomenon, find the cause of negative effects, and search for appropriate solutions. This study has developed and verified a theoretical model that shows how the technical characteristics known as the utility of smart devices are converted into negative results such as work-life conflict. As a result of analyzing the collected data from the employees, our study provides significant implications for the researchers, as well as the practitioners and policy makers, regarding various relationships among IT-enabled work flexibility, after-hours work connectivity and work-life conflict, and the new knowledge about the important role of segmentation supplies from the organization.
In modern society, which boomed it became easier to obtain the necessary information to the emergence of a variety of smart devices. Due to this, the frequency of using the content based on the Web is growing rapidly. In addition, companies are turning into a production and modify the content using the CMS under the web-based. It can be a very important part to provide users with the content. Currently web services are designing a UI to the device and provided. To improve the ease of use, they are enhancing services only by survey and analysis of the patterns of all users. Most are designed without considering the UX only in the technical aspects. In this paper, to break the limits that apply to all users of the Web service pattern analysis, we propose a visualization system via the animation based on the individual user's movement patterns and usage patterns. Through this convergence is expected to be able to transform the web from the central manager to the user UX and the planning aspects researchers.
