The Effect of the Consistent Presentation of Illustration about the Aligning Direction of the Axis on the Middle School Students' Acquisition and Retention of Astronomical Concepts (자전축 기울기 방향의 일관된 삽화 제시가 중학생의 천문 개념 형성과 파지에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of the consistent presentation of illustrations about the aligning direction of the Axis on the middle school students' acquisition and retention of astronomical concepts. This study was taken using the nonequivalent control-group pretest-posttest design on 116 7th middle school subjects. The same teaching and learning activities were given to both the experimental (n=59) and control groups (n=57) through three lessons. The experimental group was given a consistent presentation of the illustrations about the aligning direction of the Axis, while the control group was given an inconsistent presentation of the same illustrations about aligning direction. Two days after the three lessons, the 1st posttest was administered to compare the statistical difference of mean of both groups, using ANCOVA test. The result of ANCOVA test implicated that the consistent presentation of the illustrations about the aligning direction of the Axis had a positive influence on the experimental group's acquisition of the concepts. The 2nd posttest result for retention effect was given two month later by one-paired t-Test in each group and showed that the method had a positive effect on the experimental group, compared with control group. The results of this study implicated that paying careful attention to using the consistent illustration is highly beneficial for students' meaningful learning on astronomical concepts.

Analysis of Carbon Cycle Concepts based on Earth Systems Perspective of High School Students (고등학생들의 지구시스템 관점에 기반한 탄소 순환 개념 분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze carbon cycle concepts based on earth systems from the perspective of high school students. The subjects for this study were seven students who have completed Earth-science I curriculum. to analyze of carbon cycle concepts based on earth systems perspective, the methods of word association, casual map and drawing were used. The results of this study were as follows: first, 5 out of 7 students have suggested carbon cycle concepts less than three. Second, the carbon cycle concepts on the change of state were 2. Also, the carbon cycle concets on process were 8. Third, 2 out of 7 students present 2 feedback loops, 3 out of 7 students 1 feedback loops, but 2 out of 7 students couldn't present the feedback loops associated with carbon cycle. Finally, As for carbon cycle concepts through drawing, 1 out of 7 students drew 9 concepts, 3 out of 9 students drew 7 concepts and the rest of them drew 5, 4, 3 concepts respectively. These results suggest that concept and feedback loop thinking skills on carbon cycle are a low level. Therefore, It is suggested that more educational programs be developed on various topics in order for high school students to improve their system thinking skills as well as knowledge integration of earth systems.

'Green Growth' and the Possible Contribution of Geomorphologic Studies ('녹색성장'과 지형학적 연구의 기여)

  • 'Green growth' is the development strategy for the sustainable society through the harmony between the environment and economy. The 'green growth' was defined and accepted by UNESCAP and countries in Asia-Pacific region. OECD also accepted it as their new development policy. 'Green New Deal' was also proposed as a new social/economic policy to response three global crisis: environmental, resources and economic. Social and environmental sustainability are the most important principles of this policy. In Korea, however, the 'green growth' is redefined and used by the government and politicians as an economic policy to support the new technology on energy efficiency and renewable energy. In here, the definitions of green growth in the world and in Korea are analysed and compared, and new term is proposed. Green growth is the development policy to response environmental crisis (ie. climate changes) to transform the society to environmentally and socially sustainable one. The possible contribution of geomorphologic researches to green growth was also proposed.

The Transition of Academic Interpretation of Volunteer Firefighting as the Sub-Administrative Organization in Quasi-Public Organization (의용소방대 조직의 학술적 개념 변화: 자원봉사단체에서 관변단체의 행정말단조직으로)

  • The purpose of this study is to discuss an academic concept transition of volunteer firefighting after implementation of the "Volunteer Fire Brigade Establishment & Operation Act". For that, the definition, function, and support of member for the volunteer fire brigade and the quasi-public organization were compared and analyzed using laws and its implementing ordinances, local ordinances, references, etc. In results, we can consider the definition of the volunteer fire brigade in relation to that of the quasi-public organization. In addition, it showed that the volunteer fire brigade have the function of the sub-administrative organization in the quasi-public organization. The support of volunteer firefighting was very similar to that of the village foreman as example of the sub-administrative organization. In conclusion, an academic concept of the volunteer firefighting was translated from the general volunteer organization to the sub-administrative organization in the quasi-public organization. The result in this paper is expected to serve as a basis for the research of the volunteer fire department in Korea.

Analysis of Examples Categorized by Function in the 'States of Matter' Chapter of Third Grade Science Textbooks and Students' Conceptions (초등학교 3학년 '물질의 상태' 단원에 제시된 예의 기능별 유형 분석 및 학생들의 이해)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the examples represented in school science textbooks by the function types for students' scientific conceptions. According to the framework of analysis, we selected lacking examples in the textbooks, and developed a questionnaire for students. The questionnaire was applied to 157 third grade students to survey their conceptions related to matter states and change of states. The ratio of students' scientific conceptions related to solid the state was high because distinct examples were represented in the textbook. However, the ratios of students' scientific conceptions related to the liquid and gas states were low because there were no distinct examples in the science textbook. Contrast examples and expansive examples of liquid and gas such as fog and steam need to be represented in science textbooks in order to help students construct scientific conceptions of matter states and change of states.

대학생들의 야외 지질 실습 전과 후의 퇴적층 형성의 이해도 변화 비교

  • 대학생들의 야외 지질 실습 전과 후에 퇴적층 형성에 대한 이해도 변화를 파악하기 위해 충남대학교 지질환경과학과 3학년 재학생 27명을 대상으로 3일 동안, 참여 학생들에게 매일 실습 전과 후로 나누어 6번의 설문 조사를 실시하였다. 설문 조사 문항은 모두 주관식이며, 3일에 걸쳐 총 68문항을 제공하였다. 제시된 문항은 퇴적층 형성과 관련된 기본개념 31문항과 조사 지역의 노두관찰 37문항으로 분류 된다. 야외 실습 전과 후의 개인별 점수를 각각 비교한 결과 실습에 참여한 모든 학생들의 점수가 향상되었다. 실습 3일에 대한 전체 학생들의 평균점수는 실습 전에 28.3점, 후에 51.6점으로 실습 전보다 후에 34.2% 향상되었다. 또한 전체 학생들의 기본개념 31문항에 대한 평균점수는 실습 전에 19.8점, 후에 26.9점으로 22.9%, 조사 지역 노두관찰 37문항에 대해서는 실습전에 8.5점, 후에 24.7점으로 43.8%가 각각 향상되었다. 퇴적층은 공간적으로 넓은 장소와 시간적으로 오랜 기간 동안에 걸쳐 형성되어 학생들은 광범위한 공간적, 시간적 개념을 이해하는 것이 필요하며 대학의 지질학 교육 과정에서 야외실습은 필수적인 요소이다. 야외 실습은 학습자가 직접 자연과 같은 실제 세계를 관찰하고 조사하는 활동으로 이루어지는 학습 방법으로 교실 밖에서 일어나는 모든 학습을 총칭한다고 할 수 있다. 본 연구 결과는 야외 실습 후에 학생들의 점수가 향상된 것을 보여주었다. 이런 결과는 야외 실습이 야외에서 학습자가 주체가 되어 적극적인 참여로 학습하는 학생 중심 학습이고, 자연 환경을 학습의 장으로 하여 실물을 활용한 직접적인 조사활동과 같은 경험에 의한 체험 학습이기 때문인 것으로 해석된다. 또한 야외 실습에서 그룹 활동은 학생들이 지질조사를 하면서 발견된 문제나 내용에 대해 공유할 수 있는 토론 학습인 동시에 야외 활동에서 교수는 전문가 혹은 학습 촉매자로서 문제에 대한 해결책을 주거나 학생들에게 질문이나 토론의 기회를 주어 학생들의 지적, 정신적 향상에 영향을 미치기 때문인 것으로 보인다. 그러므로 야외 실습은 계획, 실행, 정리 단계가 매우 중요하다. 우선 장소 선정에 있어 강의실에서 토론된 주제 및 개념과 관련된 장소를 선정해야 하며, 야외에서는 학생과 학생, 학생과 교수 간의 그룹 활동, 토의 및 질문 시간을 충분히 가져야 함은 물론 실습 후에는 세미나를 통해 야외 활동에서 새롭게 발견하거나 조사 및 학습한 내용, 해결하지 못한 문제 등을 토론하고 정리하는 과정을 갖는 것이 필요하다고 판단된다.

Pre-service Secondary Teachers' Responses on Definitions, Illustrations, Experiments of 'Adiabatic Change' in Earth Science I Textbooks (지구과학 I 교과서의 단열변화 정의, 삽화, 실험에 대한 예비 교사들의 반응)

  • The purpose of this study was to make a suggestion for the direction of writing textbook by comparing and analyzing the contents about 'Adiabatic Change' in earth science I textbooks. For this study, six textbooks were chosen among the eight government-authorized earth science I textbooks that were in general use in schools. Based on the researcher's preview of the six chosen textbooks, three categories were established as a criteria for analysis of the contents of 'adiabatic change': definitions, illustrations, and experiments. Thirty five preservice secondary teachers participated in analyzing the six textbooks based on the above three categories. Each of the six books was given an alphabet from A to F. The analysis results were as follows: Textbook A was turned out as the best textbook in the category of definition, textbook C as the best in the category of illustration, and textbook B as the best in the category of experiment about the concept of 'adiabatic change'. However, each of the six earth science textbooks showed an insufficient part in one way or the other. The results imply that the inaccurate and inappropriate information would not only make the students difficult to understand the adiabatic change but also lead them to some level of misconceptions. Therefore, there need to reconstruct the contents of textbooks to be more systematic, accurate, and complete.

  • It takes much of times and efforts for mathematical knowledge to be regarded as truth. Mathematical knowledge has been added, and modified, and even proved to be false. Mathematical knowledge consists of mathematical languages, statements, reasonings, questions, metamathematical views. These elements have been changed constantly by investigations and refutations of mathematicians, by modification of proofs considering the refutations, by introduction of new concepts, by additions of questions about new concepts, by efforts to get answers to new questions, by attempts to apply previous studies to the present, constantly. This study introduces the change of mathematical knowledge instituted by filcher, and presents examples of the change.

Assessment of Water Supply Reliability in Agricultural Watershed based on Big Data (빅데이터 기반 농촌유역 이수안전도 산정)

  • 우리나라 수리시설물 중 30년 이상 경과된 수리시설물은 전체의 61%를 차지하며, 특히 저수지의 경우 저수지의 약 84% 정도는 50년 이상 된 노후 저수지로 분류되고 있어 지속적인 보수·보강 필요하며 향후 기후변화에 취약할 것으로 예상된다. 이수측면에서 설계기준이 되는 설계한발빈도는 농업용 저수지의 내한능력을 나타내는 것으로 수리시설의 규모를 결정하는 기준이 된다. 국내의 경우 1982년 농지개량사업계획 설계기준 댐편에 한발빈도 10년 기준을 채택하여 사용되고 있으며, 현재 농업용 저수지의 이수안전도는 한발빈도 설계기준을 대신하여 사용하고 있다. 농업용 저수지의 이수안전도는 기존 설계기준에 의한 물수지법에 따른 저수지의 설계빈도로 산정되어 기후 및 영농변화, 용수수요의 변화, 농법의 변화 등 현장의 물관리 여건을 반영하는데 한계가 있다. 실제 저수지의 이수능력은 한발빈도 설계기준으로 대변되는 공급가능량 및 평야부 용배수로의 형상에 따라 농업용수 공급역량이 상이하므로, 평야부를 포함하는 농촌유역, 농촌공간의 이수안전도 개념이 도입되어야 한다. 또한 국가의 유관기관들은 특성 및 용도에 맞는 용수공급 정보를 생산하여 모니터링 자료를 제공하고 있지만, 실제 현장에서 체감하는 물 부족 및 이수관련 문제 해결을 위해 현장기반 데이터 활용이 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 기존 경험에 의한 관행적인 물관리 자료, 저수지 관련 계측 자료, 위성영상 자료, 비정형 미디어 데이터 등 이수 관련 분야의 빅데이터를 통합 구축하여 농촌유역 이수안전도의 개념을 정의하고자 한다.

  • 지식경영(KM)은 기존의 여타 혁신활동과는 달리 조직문화 및 제도의 변화를 기반으로 하여 새로운 지식이 창출, 공유, 활용되도록 하자는 한 차원 발전된 개념임. 따라서, 지식경영의 추진은 필연적으로 기업의 총체적 변화를 요구하게 되고 이것을 뒷받침하기 위한 프로세스의 변화 및 정보시스템의 구축, 변화관리 등이 필요하게 됨. 금일 강의에서는 LG-EDS시스템이 지식경영 도입과 실행을 위해 구체적으로 어떤 활동을 전개하였고 이를 통해 어떤 변화를 이루었는지에 대해 소개하고 그간의 경험으로부터 얻게 된 know-how 등의 암묵적 지식(Tacit Knowledge)\`을 공유코자 함.
