A Model for diagnosing Students′Misconception using Fuzzy Cognitive Maps and Fuzzy Associative Memory (퍼지 인지 맵과 퍼지 연상 메모리를 이용한 오인진단 모델)

  • This paper presents a model for diagnosing students'learning misconceptions in the domain of heat and temperature using fuzzy cognitive maps(FCM) and fuzzy associative memory(FAM). In a model for diagnosing learning misconceptions. an FCM can represent with cause and effect between preconceptions and misconceptions that students have about scientific phenomenon. An FAM which represents a neurallike memory for memorizing causal relationships is used to diagnose causes of misconceptions in learning. This study will present a new method for more autonomous and intelligent system than a model to diagnose misconceptions that was being done with classical methods in learning and may contribute as an intelligent tutoring system for learning diagnosis within various educational contexts.

Creep Behavior of Unconsolidated Rock with Mathematical Concept Solution (수학적 개념 해를 적용한 미고결 암석의 Creep거동 해석)

  • Burger's model was used to analyze creep characteristics of unconsolidated rock. Burger's model should determine four physical parameters from two pairs of data. In this study, physical parameters of Burger's model were determined by applying mathematical concept solution. Creep was accelerated for three years using the determined physical parameters of the Burger's model for unconsolidated rocks. As a result, the creep behavior showed a continuous deformation behavior without convergence. Therefore, in this mine, it is analyzed that the application of U-Beam is more appropriate than roofbolt in terms of stability.

  • The Integration of biological databases is critically important because of the interconnectedness of biological research. But it's not easy to integrate these databases for the different formats and designers in heterogeneous environments. So initial design is indispensable to integrate heterogeneous databases. In this paper, after we performed conceptual modeling on a popular nucleotide database, GenBank and a protein database, Swiss-Prot and integrated them by considering cross-reference. we also propose the integration system architecture called Bio-Gateway System, which can help users query closely linked information between two biological databases within one system differently from existing systems as well as query easily on condition that user knows fine condition for less effort.

  • The modeling of a product data is becomming more and more important in engineering environment, especially for the development of CAD/CAM system as a basis of computer integrated manufacturing system. Model is a formalized representation of the real world, and modeling is the task to identify, abstract, and formalize the product information into an unambiguous representation. In this study, the piping system, one of typical product of ship outfitting system, is modeled. The STEP idea is followed to provide a common mechanism to represent the product information throughout the life-cycle, and the object oriented paradigm is used in the analysis and design of the model. The definitions given within this model are independent of the specific application domain so that the same methodology can be used for other purpose.

  • The objective of the interoperation of L-V-C Simulation is to enable practical integration training by taking advantages and compensating disadvantages of simulation models, such as Live, Virtual and Constructive models. As a study on the interoperation of L-V-C simulation, this paper suggests effective interoperation method between Virtual and Constructive simulation models and demonstrates small-size intagrated combat training model through V-C Test-Bed.

Analyzing the Effectiveness of Argumentation Program to Conceptualize the Concept of Natural Selection for Elementary Science-Gifted Students (초등과학영재들의 자연선택 개념 형성을 위한 논변활동 효과 분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop the argumentation program to build scientific concepts on natural selection for science-gifted elementary students and to know how to implement this program. For this study, nine key concepts about natural selection such as the overproduction of offspring, limited resources, population stability, competition, variation, heredity of variation, differential survival, change of the population and speciation were selected through the literature study. The programs were developed by learning cycle instructional model. Argument writings and discourses have been collected, analyzed and compared before and after the program. Two questionnaires to compare pre and post concept change consist of multiple choice questionnaire and open-ended response question were developed and applied to 19 science-gifted elementary students. Sufficiency of the explanation and conceptual quality of the explanation were used to assess the quality of their arguments before and after the program. Discourse and visual models collected from the highest and lowest group about score improvement were compared. The scores of the gifted statistically improved significantly in multiple choice questionnaire. Students' alternative conceptions about natural selection at the beginning of the program decreased and changed scientifically after the program. Visual models drawn by the students supported the results as well. This study asserts that elementary science-gifted students are able to explain evolutionary perspectives about organism change and use the key concepts of natural selection. The study means that evolutionary perspective is possible to be reflected in elementary science curriculum for the gifted.

  • 시뮬레이션(simulation)은 실 시스템(real system)의 효과적이고 효율적인 운영을 도모하기 위하여 실 시스템의 동작을 이해하고 분석, 예측, 평가하는 과학적인 문제해결 접근방법이다. 시뮬레이션 수행단계는 실 시스템의 행위를 정확히 반영하도록 타당한 모델을 구축하는 모델링 단계와 모델에 의도하는 명령어들을 컴퓨터 프로그램으로 작성하는 구현단계로 나누어진다. 시뮬레이션 모델은 시간, 상태, 확률변수, 상호규칙 등의 여러 관점에 따라 다양하게 존재하는데, DEVS(Descrete EVent system Specification) 모델은 연속적인 시간상에서 이산적으로 발생하는 사건에 따라 시스템의 상태를 분석할 수 있고 모델링 및 시뮬레이션 방법론의 형식화를 위한 견고한 이론적 기반을 제공하고 있다. 또한, DEVS 모델은 모듈적, 계층적 특성을 제공하고 집합론에 근거한 수학적 형식구조를 제공하여 실 시스템에 대한 체계적인 분석과정을 수행하게 되어 보다 현실적인 모델링을 가능하게 한다. 그러나 타당하지 못한 DEVS 모델이 구축되면 시뮬레이션을 통한 분석결과의 신뢰성이 떨어져 아무런 효과가 없고 경제적인 손실만이 따른다. DEVS 모델에 대한 기존의 타당성 검사가 많은 시간과 노력이 요구되고, 반복적인 DEVS 모델링 과정으로 인한 전문적이고 경험적인 지식을 요구한다. 또한, 모델설계자에 의해 설정된 실험 프레임하에서 DEVS 모델의 구성요소에 속하는 상태전이함수, 시간진행함수 및 출력함수에 대하여 commutative 성질의 보전성 검사가 어렵다는 문제점을 가지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 이와 같은 문제점을 해결하기 위하여, DEVS 모델에 대한 타당성 검사를 SPN(Stochastic Petri Net) 모델로 변환하여 SPN 모델을 이용하는 간단하고 효과적인 타당성 검사 방법을 제안한다. 먼저, DEVs 모델에 대한 개념과 기존의 DEVS 모델에 대한 타당성 검사 방법을 고찰하고 그 문제점에 대하여 자세히 설명한다. DEVS 모델의 타당성 검사에 이용하는 SPN 모델에 대한 개념과 DEVS 모델과 행위적으로 동등한 SNP 모델로 변환을 위한 관점을 제조명하다. 동일한 관점에서 두 모델의 상태표현이 같도록 DEVS 모델이 SPN 모델로 표현됨을 보이는 변환이론을 제시하고 변환이론을 바탕으로 모델 변환과정을 제시한다. 모델 변환이론과 변환고정을 기본으로 타당성 검사를 위한 새로운 동질함수(homogeneous function)를 정의하고 이와 함께 SPN 모델의 특성을 이용하여 DEVS 모델에 대한 타당성 검사 방법을 새롭게 제안한다.

Scoring Korean Written Responses Using English-Based Automated Computer Scoring Models and Machine Translation: A Case of Natural Selection Concept Test (영어기반 컴퓨터자동채점모델과 기계번역을 활용한 서술형 한국어 응답 채점 -자연선택개념평가 사례-)

  • This study aims to test the efficacy of English-based automated computer scoring models and machine translation to score Korean college students' written responses on natural selection concept items. To this end, I collected 128 pre-service biology teachers' written responses on four-item instrument (total 512 written responses). The machine translation software (i.e., Google Translate) translated both original responses and spell-corrected responses. The presence/absence of five scientific ideas and three $na{\ddot{i}}ve$ ideas in both translated responses were judged by the automated computer scoring models (i.e., EvoGrader). The computer-scored results (4096 predictions) were compared with expert-scored results. The results illustrated that no significant differences in both average scores and statistical results using average scores was found between the computer-scored result and experts-scored result. The Pearson correlation coefficients of composite scores for each student between computer scoring and experts scoring were 0.848 for scientific ideas and 0.776 for $na{\ddot{i}}ve$ ideas. The inter-rater reliability indices (Cohen kappa) between computer scoring and experts scoring for linguistically simple concepts (e.g., variation, competition, and limited resources) were over 0.8. These findings reveal that the English-based automated computer scoring models and machine translation can be a promising method in scoring Korean college students' written responses on natural selection concept items.

  • 본 연구에서는 독립형 마이크로그리드의 신뢰도를 향상시키기 위한 최적시스템 개념 설계를 제안하고 그 성능과 동작을 분석한 내용에 대해 기술하고 있다. 제안하는 시스템의 동작 타당성을 체계적으로 분석하기 위해 PSCAD/EMTDC 소프트웨어를 이용한 시뮬레이션 모델을 개발하였으며 개발한 시뮬레이션 모델을 이용하여 제안하는 시스템의 동작특성을 다양하게 분석하였다.
