Public Libraries should be open at times when the community can make the most effective and convenient use of library collections and services. In other words, public library must provide adequate open hours for local residents. In this respect, this study analyzed the minimum opening hours per week in public library standards of international organizations(IFLA/UNESCO) and major countries (USA, Canada, UK, France, Australia, China, Taiwan, Japan, Korea) and suggested a desirable minimum standards(under 10,000 population-45 hours ; over 10,000~20,000 population-50 hours ; over 20,000~50,000 population-55 hours ; over 50,000~100,000 population-60 hours ; over 100,000~300,000 population-65 hours ; over 300,000 population-70 hours) for opening hours per week of public library based on population size in Korea.

The purpose of this study is to propose a rational operation plan for opening hours of public libraries in accordance with the 52-hour workweek of public institutions. The subjects of the study were six Gimhae Municipal Libraries. For the efficient operation of the Gimhae Municipal Library, the survey was conducted for the library users and staff. As a result, two proposals were made for the closed days and opening hours of the Gimhae Municipal Library. In order to balance work and life and to operate an efficient library, it is necessary to balance the cultural welfare of the citizens and the welfare of employees.

This study conducted a survey on the current status and satisfaction of libraries participating in the opening hours support project in order to continue it to meet the purpose of improving information access and life welfare. To this end, a questionnaire and interview survey were conducted for those in charge of opening hours for each library, and the results are as follows. First, the opening hours support project is a project that needs a strategy that fits the characteristics of the region and the environment. Therefore, it is necessary to consider operating independently rather than relying on national support in the future through the preparation of regional-oriented operation plans. Second, it is necessary to establish a flexible operating model for opening hours that both employees and users can understand. Third, it is necessary to prepare an organizational operation plan that requires both duties and responsibilities along with the rights equivalent to existing regular employees. Fourth, in order for national public libraries in Korea to develop and implement a consistent policy for specific policies and projects, it is necessary to unify the separate public library operating system in the future. Fifth, it is necessary to prepare education and guidelines for the continuity and stable operation of the project, and to activate services other than labor costs, such as support for improving the space for the user's pleasant use.

The Korean government is pursuing the policy of broadening easy access to information by local residents and the range of public services provided to them. One of the most recent prominent examples is the evening circulation service offered by public libraries. In a sense of addressing issues facing the newly implemented service, this study aimed to present an improvement scheme on the basis of the results from analyzing the data such as background motivation, ways of publicity, service open time, service content, the present status of use of materials, satisfaction of users, and operating difficulties experienced, which were attained from the public libraries implementing the service as of June 2009 and the service users.

1925년에 개관한 독일 뮌헨의 도이체스박물관은 현재 6만여점의 희귀 과학기술사물과 85만권 이상의 도서를 소장하고 있으며 연간 1백30여만명의 관람객이 찾는 대규모 과학관이다. 이 박물관은 짧은 시간내에 대표적 전시물을 관람할 수 있도록 명작코너도 운영하고 있다.

This study is to evaluate whether economies of scale exist in four categories of university libraries in the Korea. Regression analysis is used to fit a log-log equation to the total budget-output (total circulation, interlibrary lending and borrowing, reference transactions, hours opened, volumes added, automation and information indicator) for all the types of libraries. In results of the analysis, returns to scale are almost constant in the national and public libraries and larger libraries. But there is presence of economics of scale in private libraries and all of the libraries. Except for hours opened, economies of scale decrease more rapidly.

The purpose of this study was to measure performance of university libraries, especially investigating the components of service quality and their relationship to the customer satisfaction. The result of the study was summarized as follows: First, the factors on satisfaction of library service revealed 12 factors such as access of information, quality of employees, suitable collections, issues related to civil petitions, equipments and facilities, timeliness, operating hours, use of information technology, library user education, reference service, public relation and individual service. Second, the factors of library service on customer satisfaction showed the following primary factors: suitable collections, issues related to civil petitions, access of information, equipments and facilities, timeliness, public relation, reference service, operating hours, and individual service. Third, the components of library service on customwe satisfaction showed the following primary components: availability, the number of books and journals, facilities of air conditioning, public relation, usefulness of retrieval system, waiting time for Internet use, operating hour, speed of repairs, receipt of civil petitions, use of non-book materials.

With the rapid development of aesthetic ceramic materials and resin adhesives, the transition from metal ceramic crown to all-ceramic restoration is being actively carried out. When making porcelain restorations, the advantages can be maximized only when appropriate forms and techniques are used. Recently, an esthetic partial-coverage restoration method with supra-gingival margins was introduced by applying a minimally invasive tooth removal method that preserves enamel as much as possible and enhances adhesion efficiency. Through this, various advantages such as minimization of tooth structure removal and ease of excess cement removal can be obtained. In addition, since this manufacturing method does not require cord packing, it is possible to save time for impression taking and reduce patient discomfort. Furthermore, the margins can be clearly obtained without the intervention of gingival fluid or blood, making it possible to manufacture more accurate restorations. In the following cases of patients with partial tooth defects, esthetic ceramic partial-coverage restorations with supra-gingival margin was applied using minimally invasive tooth preparation method according to the concept of adhesive dentistry. Therefore, unnecessary tooth abutment preparation was prevented and residual tooth structure could be preserved as much as possible. After delivery of the ceramic partial-coverage restorations, favorable outcome was obtained.

콘서트홀의 음향상태를 평가하기 위해서는 설문지를 통하여 주관적인 선호도를 조사하는 방법과 측정을 통하여 객관적인 지표를 뽑아내는 방법이 있다. 콘서트홀의 음향특성에 영향을 주는 가장 중요한 객관적 지표로서는 친밀도, 공간감, 잔향시간, 명료도, 음의 따뜻함, 라우드니스 등을 들 수가 있다. 국내에서 가장 대표적인 콘서트홀이라고 할 수 있는 예술의 전당 음악당에 대해서 위의 개관적 지표 중 5가지 요소를 실제 측정을 통해 추출하였다. 그 결과 예술의 전당 음악당은 친밀도와 공간감 면에서 조금 부족한 면을 보여 주었고 나머지 3가지 요소에 있어서는 클래식 연주에 적합한 콘서트홀로서의 결과를 보여 주었다. 공간감과 친밀도를 향상시키기 위해서는 음악당 천장에 반사판을 설치하는 것이 필요하다고 사료된다.
