  • Based on the student evaluation of teaching from 'A' university where students are graded by relative performance, we conducted a research on the effect of course characteristics in student evaluation of teaching. The results show that the score of student evaluation of teaching seems to be higher for those classes with more proportion of male students, higher grades, and smaller class sizes. From these results, we suggest an evaluation model which can control the effect of grade and sex. Also we illustrate the performance of the evaluation model by using a case study.

  • It is becoming increasingly difficult for learners to find the lectures they are looking for. In turn, the ability to find the particular lecture sought by the learner in an accurate and prompt manner has become an important issue in e-Learning. To deal this issue, in this paper. we present a collaborative approach to provide personalized recommendations of online video lectures. The proposed approach first identifies candidated video lectures that will be of interest to a certain user. Partitioned collaborative filtering is employed as an approach in order to generate neighbor learners and predict learners'preferences for the lectures. Thereafter, Attribute-based filtering is employed to recommend a final list of video lectures that the target user will like the most.

  • The fundamental concerns of this paper are to analyze the effects of student course evaluation using subject characteristic and student characteristic variables. We use a 2-level hierarchical linear model since the data structure of subject characteristic and student characteristic variables is multilevel. Four models we consider are as follows; (1) null model, (2) random coefficient model, (3) mean as outcomes model, (4) intercepts and slopes as outcomes model. The results of the analysis were given as follows. First, the result of null model was that subject characteristics effects on course evaluation had much larger than student characteristics. Second, the result of conditional model specifying subject and student level predictors revealed that class size, grade, tenure, mean GPA of the class, native class for level-1, and sex, department category, admission method, mean GPA of the student for level-2 had statistically significant effects on course evaluation. The explained variance was 13% in subject level, 13% in student level.

  • Most of universities have carried out course evaluation to apply the performance appraisal for professor. But, course evaluation depends on characteristics of each class such as class size, type of lecture, evaluator's grade and so on. As the results, such characteristics of each class lead to serious bias which makes lecturers distrust the course evaluation results. Hence, we propose a equating method for the course evaluation by regression analysis which use stepwise variable selection. And we compare proposed method with the other method by Cho et al. (2009) with respect to efficiencies. Also we give the example to which the method is applied.

  • We study a learner-customized lecture recommendation project using deep learning. Recommendation systems can be easily found on the web and apps, and examples using this feature include recommending feature videos by clicking users and advertising items in areas of interest to users on SNS. In this study, the sentence similarity Word2Vec was mainly used to filter twice, and the course was recommended through the Surprise library. With this system, it provides users with the desired classification of course data conveniently and conveniently. Surprise Library is a Python scikit-learn-based library that is conveniently used in recommendation systems. By analyzing the data, the system is implemented at a high speed, and deeper learning is used to implement more precise results through course steps. When a user enters a keyword of interest, similarity between the keyword and the course title is executed, and similarity with the extracted video data and voice text is executed, and the highest ranking video data is recommended through the Surprise Library.

  • This study was conducted with 500 citizens of one metropolitan city to prepare foundational data for the opening of health promotion course of traditional korean medicine. A questionnaire examined participants' general characteristics and their experience with and awareness of oriental treatment and a survey on the need for health promotion course of traditional korean medicine were used as the research tools. Results showed that 56.8% of respondents had an experience with oriental treatment over the last year. Participants who responded that oriental treatment was effective accounted for 72.3%. Respondents selected "subject and contents of class" (59.1%) as the important factor in attending the oriental health promotion course, and cardiovascular disease (23.7%) as the disease they wanted to learn about. They considered "self-health care method for diseases" (69.0%) as what they expected most from the class. The results of this study will be useful when planning health promotion course of traditional korean medicine to satisfy the participants' needs.
