Machine-Learning Evaluation of Factors Influencing Landslides (머신러닝기법을 이용한 산사태 발생인자의 영향도 분석)

  • Geological field surveys and a series of laboratory tests were conducted to obtain data related to landslides in Sancheok-myeon, Chungju-si, Chungcheongbuk-do, South Korea where many landslides occurred in the summer of 2020. The magnitudes of various factors' influence on landslide occurrence were evaluated using logistic regression analysis and an artificial neural network. Undisturbed specimens were sampled according to landslide occurrence, and dynamic cone penetration testing measured the depth of the soil layer during geological field surveys. Laboratory tests were performed following the standards of ASTM International. To solve the problem of multicollinearity, the variation inflation factor was calculated for all factors related to landslides, and then nine factors (shear strength, lithology, saturated water content, specific gravity, hydraulic conductivity, USCS, slope angle, and elevation) were determined as influential factors for consideration by machine learning techniques. Minimum-maximum normalization compared factors directly with each other. Logistic regression analysis identified soil depth, slope angle, saturated water content, and shear strength as having the greatest influence (in that order) on the occurrence of landslides. Artificial neural network analysis ranked factors by greatest influence in the order of slope angle, soil depth, saturated water content, and shear strength. Arithmetically averaging the effectiveness of both analyses found slope angle, soil depth, saturated water content, and shear strength as the top four factors. The sum of their effectiveness was ~70%.

  • Two fundamental aspects of speech summary generation are the extraction of key speech content and the style of presentation of the extracted speech synopses. We first investigated whether acoustic features (speaking rate, pitch pattern, and intensity) are equally important and, if not, which one can be effectively modeled to compute the significance of segments for lecture summarization. As a result, we found that the intensity (that is, difference between max DB and min DB) is the most efficient factor for speech summarization. We evaluated the intensity-based method of using the difference between max-DB and min-DB by comparing it to the keyword-based method in terms of which method produces better speech summaries and of how similar weight values assigned to segments by two methods are. Then, we investigated the way to present speech summaries to the viewers. As such, for speech summarization, we suggested how to extract key segments from a speech video efficiently using acoustic features and then present the extracted segments to the viewers.

  • The material properties of heat resistant materials at power plants are affected by thermal aging as operating time is accumulated. In this study, the influence of thermal aging on yield strength, tensile strength and fracture behavior for Mod.9Cr-1Mo (ASME Grade 91) steel which is a material widely adopted for Generation IV nuclear energy system has been investigated and analyzed. Service exposed Gr.91 steel materials sampled from a piping system of an ultra-supercritical (USC) plant in Korea with accumulated operation time of 73,716 hours were used for material testing. The test results of the service exposed material specimens were compared with those of the virgin Gr.91 steel specimens. Those test data were compared with the material properties of ASME code and RCC-MRx code. Conservatisms of the material properties in the design codes have been quantified based on the comparisons of those from virgin and service exposed material specimens.

  • 본 연구는 빈도별 수문조건하의 2차원 수리해석모형(FLUMEN) 결과를 제공받아 빈도별 침수범람 등을 분석하고, 이로부터 도출되는 침수면적, 최대침수심, 최대유속 등의 특성정보를 이용하여 침수심보다 상대적으로 홍수 위험에 대한 척도를 나타내어 줄 수 있는 홍수 강도(Flood Intensity) 개념을 도입하여 대상유역에 적합한 홍수 위험지표(Flood Hazard Value) 및 홍수 위험도(Flood Risk Map)를 작성하고자 하였다. 본 연구의 대상지역은 안성천 중류부의 평택시 6개동을 포함하는 약 $12.6km^2$의 대상지역으로 2차원 수리해석모형(FLUMEN)의 분석한 시간별 침수심(Flow Depth), 최대침수심과 최대 유속 등의 결과를 ASCII파일의 XYZ값 형태로 제공받아 ArcGis 등을 이용하여 Point Coverage를 만들고, 이로부터 TIN (Triangulated Irregular Network)작업을 수행한 후 대상지역의 최대 침수심도 및 최대 유속분포도 등을 작성하였다. 그리고, 침수예상도 등으로부터 얻어진 침수면적, 최대 침수심, 최대유속 등을 분석하여 침수심과 유속의 함수로 홍수강도를 정의하고 홍수강도와 홍수발생확률의 곱으로 위험지표를 산정하였고, 산정된 홍수 위험지표를 적용하여 홍수 위험도를 작성하였다. 본 연구로부터 도출되는 홍수 위험지표 및 홍수 위험도는 홍수범람에 의한 인명피해 및 재산손실과 이에 대한 복구 및 구호활동에 소요되는 노력 등의 여러 가지 사회..경제적 역기능을 방지하고자 홍수에 의한 침수특성을 이해하고 홍수에 대비한 적절한 홍수방어대책 수립시의 지원 정보로 제공되어 활용될 수 있다.

SEM 및 AFM을 이용한 한지의 특성 분석

  • 한지의 제조에 있어서 부원료인 점질물은 초지시 매우 중요한 역할을 하는데 그 주된 역 할은 다음과 같다. 먼저 점질물은 섬유의 분산을 용이하게 하고 종이의 강도를 증가시키며, 양지와는 달리 박엽지의 제조가 편리하고, 종이의 경도를 증가시키며, 습지의 처리를 용이하 게 하며, 점성으로 인하여 섬유의 침전올 방지하고, 종이의 광택을 향상시키는 둥 매우 중요 한 역할을 한다. 그러나 한지 제조시 이러한 식물성 점제의 미묘한 작용은 현재 대다수의 한지 제조 공장에서 사용하고 있는 합성점제인 PAM이나 PEO 등의 합성 고분자 화합물에 서는 기대하기 어려운 작용이라 여겨진다. 이와 같은 사실에서 본 연구에서는 전통적인 천 연점질물인 황촉규근의 점질물과 합성점제인 PAM 및 우리 나라에서 전혀 사용되지 않고 있는 나무수국 내수피의 점질물을 이용하여 한지를 제조하고 이들 한지의 특성을 SEM 및 A AFM(Atomic Force Microscopy)를 이용하여 분석하였다. 먼저 각각의 점질물로 제조한 한지를 SEM으로 관찰한 결과 닥나무 인피섬유의 최외층에 투명막이 존재하는 사실을 발견할 수 있었다. 이러한 투명막은 닥나무나 뽕나무 인피섬유에 만 존재하고 삼지닥나무나 산닥나무 둥과 같은 기타 인피섬유에는 존재하지 않으므로 한지 의 원료 섬유의 식별에 매우 중요한 요소가 된다. 또한 이러한 투명막은 섬유간 결합을 증 대시켜 한지의 강도 발현에 기여한다고 사료된다. 천연점질물인 황촉규근과 나무수국 점 질물을 이용하여 제조한 한지를 SEM 및 SEM-EDXA를 이용하여 분석한 결과, 황촉규근 점질물로 제조한 한지에는 상당량의 전분입자가 폰재하고 있었으며 나무수국 점질물로 제 조한 한지에는 침상의 수산칼슐 결정이 상당량 존재하고 있는 사실을 발견하였다. 이러한 사실은 한지 제조시 사용된 점질물의 식별에 중요한 요소라 사료된다. 한지의 원료인 닥나무 인피펄프와 침엽수 미표백 크라프트 펄프를 AFM을 이용하여 분석 한 결과, 닥나무 인피펄프의 마이크로피브릴 폭은 5-10nm로 Sw-UKP의 마이크로피브릴 폭 lO-20nm보다 매우 가늘고, 치밀한 세포벽 구조를 하고 있었다. 닥나무 인피펄프의 이러 한 세포벽 구조 및 마이크로피브렬의 형태가 Sw-UKP보다 높은 섬유강도를 나타내는 원인 이라 사료된다. 각각의 점질물을 이용하여 제조한 한지의 섬유표면을 AFM을 이용하여 관 찰한 결과, 원료펄프의 표면관찰에서와는 달리 초지시 사용된 점질물이 섬유표면을 피복하 고 있어 명확한 형태의 마이크로피브렬을 관찰할 수 가 없었다. 따라서 점질물의 이러한 역 할이 한지의 강도 및 보존성 향상에 기여하리라 사료된다.

Development of Compressive Failure Strength for Composite Laminate Using Regression Analysis Method (회귀분석법에 의한 복합재료 적층판의 압축파손강도 개발)

  • This paper provides the compressive failure strength value of composite laminate developed by using regression analysis method. Composite material in this document is a Carbon/Epoxy unidirection(UD) tape prepreg(Cycom G40-800/5276-1) cured at $350^{\circ}F(177^{\circ}C$). The operating temperature is -$-60^{\circ}F{\sim}+200^{\circ}F$($-55^{\circ}C{\sim}+95^{\circ}C$). A total of 56 compression tests were conducted on specimens from eight (8) distinct laminates that were laid up by standard angle layers ($0^{\circ}$, $+45^{\circ}$, $-45^{\circ}$ and $90^{\circ}$). The ASTM-D-6484 standard was used for test method. The regression analysis was performed with the response variable being the laminate ultimate fracture strength and the regressor variables being two ply orientations ($0^{\circ}$ and ${\pm}45^{\circ}$).

  • Carbon nanotube(CNT) is one of the promising construction materials to produce concrete with high strength and durability by adding in the concrete mixtures from various researches. Also, its superior heat conductivity can be one of the options to develop self-heating concrete. In this research, the fundamental study was conducted to investigate mechanical properties and microstructures of cement pastes and mortars by strength tests and porosity measurement with several CNT additions, which were 0 wt%, 0.115 wt%, 0.23 wt% and 0.46 wt% of CNT-cement ratio. Compressive and flexural strength test were conducted at 3, 7 and 28 days, and pore characteristics were investigated by mercury intrusion porosimetry. SEM-EDS and Thermogravimetric analysis(TGA) were conducted to prove the hydration product types and CNT dispersion in the cement matrix. As a result, even though high amount of CNT additions were caused worse performance, mixtures with 0.115 wt% of CNTs developed the similar performance with plain mixture.

  • Existing relative researches for traffic were studied under favorable weather or excluding impact of weather. This study present traffic volume variation according to rainfall intensity in national highway provincial road and rainfall-factor. Continuous traffic count section match AWS after selecting to analyze provincial road 256 section. Weekdays ADT(Average Daily Traffic) and rainfall-factor are influenced by rainfall a little because of business travel. But non-weekdays ADT and rainfall-factor are influenced much more than weekdays because of leisure travel. Estimated AADT(Annual Average Daily Traffic) by adjusting rainfall-factor is lower MAPE than non-adjusting rainfall factor. So, rainfall have to be considered when estimating AADT. ADT decrease according to rainfall intensity, continuous studies considered rainfall intensity are needed when road design and operation.

Acoustic Analysis of a Jing Based on Drive Point and Blow Strength (징의 타격 위치와 강도에 따른 음향 분석)

  • This paper describes an acoustic analysis of a Jing, Korean percussion instrument, according to different drive point and blow strength, and this analysis is focused on the softening and beat phenomena. Three kinds of blow strength (very strong, strong, and weak) and three locations of drive point (center, up, and right) are applied, and the spectrogram function built in Matlab is utilized to analyzing the softening and beat of target sounds. The stronger blow you drive to the center of the Jing, the more clearly softening is observed. Frequency shifting is increased proportionally to the blow strength and frequency and it is stand out on the harmonics in contrast with that of other partials. Beat of the Jing can be classified into the early beat and late beat. The beats by the outside driven Jing are distributed in wider frequency band than the beats by the center driven Jing. In addition, it is observed that the early beat is affected by few specific partials developed around harmonics for the center driven Jing.
