  • To effectively come up with and secure a national budget, it is very important to estimate the reasonable construction cost of each step in public construction projects. In this study, the approximate construction cost of a steel box girder bridge in the early stages of the project, on which available information is limited, was proposed using case-based reasoning. In addition, construction cost estimation models were used for existing sample design models, and the accuracy of the estimation model for the presented cost was verified. The analysis results showed that the error rate was comparatively stable. Therefore, it is expected that construction cost estimation will be effectively suggested in the country's budget preparation.

  • Concrete-filled steel tube columns are expected to have confined effects of the steel on the concrete and reinforced local buckling effects of the concrete. After comparing the results of existing studies with the experimental results from this study, the stress-strain relations were modified by evaluating the load-displacement with consideration of the confined effects. The effects of the parameters on the load-displacement and moment-curvature relationship according to the sectional and material properties were analyzed.

  • The objective of this study is to investigate the influence that how does contact surface between concrete and steel influence the steel encased composite column by push-out test. Also nominal bond stress indicated by design standard such as Eurocode 4 is underestimated in small scale steel encased composite column. The other objective of this study is to investigate how does the number and space of shear connector influence the H-shaped steel encased composite column. The shear behavior of shear connectors is investigated by push-out test.

  • The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of openings on the structural behavior of SC walls. The FEM program ABAQUS was used in this analytical study. The main parameters were the locations and sizes of the openings: a total of 20 locations and a total of four opening sizes were adopted. The analysis results were compared with the results of the currently applied evaluation methods. The strength reduction factor method may be used to safely design SC walls with openings. The strength reduction factor of the effective strut method is more similar to that of the analysis results.

  • In recent years, composite materials have been used in civil engineering as well as architecture, automobile, aerospace, shipping industries. Composite materials are composed of two or more different materials to produce desirable properties for structural strength. The shell structures have the advantage of more efficient load resistance due to its curved shape as compared to the plate structures. And the shell structures with composite materials have many advantages in strength, corrosion resistance, and weight reduction. The objective of this study is to analyze circular conical shells with shear deformation effects and to prove the advantage of composite materials. To solve differential equations of conical shells, this paper used finite difference method.

  • The highspeed railway bridge which support continuous and high moving mass evalute the dynamic state and make the displacement of the bridge makes more or less, but up to this time the bridges are designed by the static design concept. for example when we design bridge we use impact factor, which only times the static load makes dynamic load. But becouse it simples. it can't express all of the effects. And so, in this report we study the modeling method of the moving mass and the dynamic factor.

  • Main structural steel members need fire-resistance measures to ensure their fire-resistance performance for a prescribed time. This paper analyzes and evaluates the fire-resistance performance of approved Korean fire-protection products for steel columns. These products are classified into products for board protection and for spray protection, samples of which were selected for the analysis. The fire-resistance performance was analyzed on the basis of Korean and European standards. The Korean standards are considered additional to the Euro-code standards for performance design. The Korean standards generally take more precautions to ensure safety on the temperature side, but require the reflection of material properties, the steel temperature calculation methodology, the profile factor, and the strength verification in a fire.

  • The composite actions of truss beams and floor slabs are not reflected on the design of the truss beam in domestic practice. In this research, basic experiments were conducted on a composite truss with the top and bottom chord members consisting of the H-shaped members. The tests were performed to evaluate the mechanical behaviors of the composite truss on the effects with the shear studs and without them. The specimens consisted of the steel truss and non-composite and composite trusses, and one-point-concentrated loading at the center and equivalent loading were monotonically applied. The composite effects were experimentally identified in the composite trusses using the shear stud connectors.

  • The general behavior of the curved girder including the warping effects can be presented as the series of differential equations developed by Vlasov. Generally, bending moment is the most important factor for engineer to decide the section of the girder. In order to accommodate easiness of the structural analysis for the curved girder bridge, this paper suggest the ratios of bending moment of curved gilder to that of straight girder. These ratios are presented by an approximate formula setting central angle ${\theta}(L/R)$ as a variable. The approximate formula of the maximum bending moment ratios and influence lines of all stress resultants can be used to design the three-span curved girder bridges.

  • This study involves the development of a computer program to analyze the local buckling stresses for the flange and the web of I-beams under compression at elevated temperatures, and the optimization algorithm to analyze the optimum width-thickness ratios which does not occur their local buckling prior to yield failure. The high-temperature stress-strain relationships of steel used in this study were based on EC3 (Eurocode3) Part1.2 (2000b). In this study, the local buckling stresses and the optimum width-thichness ratios were analyzed considering the influences of the yield stress, local buckling coefficients and width-thickness ratios of the flange and the web. Design examples show the applicability of the computer program developed in this study.
