Feeding Effects of Halyomopha halys (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae) on Fruit Drop and Decay Rate in Mandarin Citrus Orchards (감귤원에서 썩덩나무노린재 감귤과실 흡즙이 낙과 및 부패에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was conducted to examine the feeding effect of Halyomorpha halys ($St{\aa}l$) (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae) on the fruit drop and decay rate of Mandarin citrus fruits (Citrus unshiu). The feeding of H. halys before fruit coloring caused a severe fruit drop, while the feeding after fruit coloring induced a low level of fruit drop. However, the feeding of H. halys before or after fruit coloring did not induce significant fruit decay during cold storage. The results are expected to be useful in managing H. hlays of late season mandarine, because citrus farmers follow calendar spray to prevent fruit drop and fruit decay.

  • 제주산 감귤생산량은 51만톤(2016년)으로 수확기에 장마 등과 같은 환경적 요인에 의해 결점과의 비율이 24.9% 정도이다. 결점과로 통칭되는 비상품과는 일부 대기업의 쥬스공장에서 수매하는 량을 제외한 대부분은 자체 농장에서 폐기처분되고 있어 많은 감귤 비상품과 처리에 많은 문제점이 노출되어 오고있다. 성주군에서는 결점과 및 비상품과가 시장에 출하되는 것을 방지하기 위하여 자체 수매하여 액비, 발효퇴비, 사료화 가공 등에 많은 비용을 투자하고 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 당도가 15 Brix에 달하는 고당도 감귤 및 참외의 비상품과를 효과적으로 착즙하여 감귤 착즙액은 생산농자재로 환원하고, 참외 착즙액은 참외조청용 원료로 사용하는 기술을 개발하고자 한다. 착즙장치는 PLATE형 스크류, 테퍼 스크류 하우징, 파쇄된 과즙을 마지막 단계인 압입하는 고깔부 및 동력을 공급하는 구동부로 구성하였다. 개발한 고액분리 착즙장치의 외형은 $W1,000{\times}L2,000{\times}H1,070$이고 사용동력은 0,75kw, 1/30 감속모터를 사용하였다. 일반적인 착즙장치는 1단 분쇄와 동일 원통형의 스크류 압착으로 고액분리를 위한 착즙이 이루어지기 때문에 처리량이 150kg/hr에 불과하지만 개발한 고액분리장치는 2차 분쇄와 원통형과 원추형의 스크류 압착 후 고액분리망을 통과하도록 하여 500kg/hr 이상을 착즙이 가능하도록 개발하였다. 따라서 농산물의 고액분리를 통한 농산물의 가공을 위한 연속 착즙 장치는 2단 분쇄와 원통형 및 원추형 압착 미세망을 이용한 고액분리 착즙기는 기존 착즙기에 비하여 처리량이 3배 이상 증가되었다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 기존 감귤 착즙기의 수율은 60%정도이나 개발 착즙기의 착즙 수율은 66.5%로 나타나 본 연구에서 개발한 착즙기의 수율이 기존 착즙기의 수율보다 약간 높게 나타났다. 기존 착즙기는 원료(농산물의 종류)의 종류나 전처리에 제한이 있어 전용으로 사용하는데 비해 본 연구에서 개발한 고액분리 착즙기는 원료의 종류나 전처리 상태에 관계없이 사용 가능함을 확인하였다.

Enzymatic Saccharification of Citrus Peel by Aspergillus sp. GF 015 (분리균 Aspergillus sp. GF015를 이용한 감귤과피(柑橘果皮)의 당화(糖化))

  • In order to utilize Citrus peel as fermentative substrate of microorganisms, enzymatic saccharification of Citrus peel by the crude enzyme of Aspergillus sp. GF 015 isolated and identified from nature was investigated. When the fungus was cultured at $27^{\circ}C$ for 3 days in wheat bran medium containing 0.6% $NH_4NO_3$ and 0.05% $KH_2PO_4$, the maximal production of the enzyme was observed. Optimal conditions for enzymatic reaction of crude enzyme were 15ml(97.5 unit)/g of enzyme solution to Citrus peel powder ratio, pH4.0, $45^{\circ}C$ of temperature and 12 hours of reaction time. As the result of saccharifying Citrus peel under optimum conditions, reducing sugar on the weight of dry matter was formed 60.2% and saccharifying rate was 76.3%. The sugar solution obtained were mainly composed of glucose, xylose and galacturonic acid. Hydrolyzing enzymes produced by Aspergillus sp. GF 015 were pectinase, cellulase and xylanase.

  • The natural sources extracted from crab shell Korean tagnrine peel, sesame meals were utilized to investigate the effects of extracts on free radical reaction, lipid oxidation and nitrite scavenging ability. The recovery percentage of extracts from waste resources (crab shell, sesame meal, dry korean tangrine peel) were chitosan 11.6%, crude sesamol 2.2% and ascorbic acid 2.8%, respectively. The antioxidants were tended to have a lower TBARS value than those of control. The nitrite scavenging and electron donating ability of crude sesamol were tended to be the most effective extract among all extracts. However, In case of chitosan, the superoxide dismutase (SOD)-like activity was the most highest, compared to other extracts.

  • This study was designed to ultimately develop a highly efficient mass production technology of bacterial cellulose isolated from the citrus gel fermented by G. hansenii TL-2C. Pilot equipment made with FRP vessel length (665 mm) ${\times}$ width (375 mm) ${\times}$ height (210 mm) was developed for mass production of the citrus gel. To develop the optimal conditions for mass production of citrus gel, comprised of citrus juice (6,000 mL) diluted 100 times, containing 5% seed bacteria, 10% sucrose, and 1% ethanol, citrus juice was fermented at $30^{\circ}C$ for 14 days, and gel productivity in pilot system was examined. BC was isolated and purified from the citrus gel, and their chemical composition and physicochemical properties were investigated.

  • Solvent-extracted volatile components from dry powder prepared from Citrus unshiu products such as immature Citrus unshiu (PCU), mature Citrus unshiu (MCU), Citrus unshiu peel (CUP), and citrus juice processing wastes (CJPW), were examined. Also, solvent-extracted volatile components from mushroom mycelia of Pycnoporus coccineus (PC), Lentinus edodes (LE), Pleurotus eryngii (PE), Hericium coralloides (HC), Panellus serotinus (PS), and Ganoderma lucidum(GL), all cultivated using citrus pulp solid media, were assayed. Twenty-nine volatile components were identified in dry powder prepared Citrus unshiu and 18 volatile components were characterized from mushroom mycelia. Of these, ${\beta}-elemene$, germacrene-D, and ${\delta}-cadinene$, were derived from CJPW, but caryophyllene, hexadecanoic acid, decanoic acid, and tetradecanoic acid were synthesized by mushroom mycelia.

Quality Changes of Citrus kiyomi by Chitosan and Calcium Treatment and Storage Warehouse (키토산 및 칼슘 처리와 저장고 형태에 따른 청견의 저장 중 품질변화)

  • Quality changes of citrus tangor(Citrus kiyomi) during storage by chitosan and calcium treatment and storage warehouse were investigated. Citrus fruits were treated with 2000-folds diluted iminoctadime-triacetate solution, and 1.5% chitosan with 0.5% CaC1$_2$solution, and were at 30$^{\circ}C$ for 24 hr before storage. The citrus fruits of about 12 kg/26 L plastic container were stored at 4$^{\circ}C$ with 87% relative humidity. Decay ratio of citrus with precise temperature and humidity control were lower than the others during storage. Weight loss, moisture content of peel and flesh were decreased slowly during storage. 15 ∼ 18% of acid content were decreased on 120 days' storage. Vitamin C content were decreased rapidly during storage. 23 free amino acids were detected. Isoleucine and leucine were not detected, but alanine was detected only on stored citrus. Citrus fruits was kept well on its commodity quality for 3 month at 4$^{\circ}C$ with 87% relative humidity.

Effect of Dietary Supplementation of Dried-Citrus Pulp and Wheat Bran on Growth and Meat Quality in Horses (건조감귤박 및 소맥피를 급여한 말의 성장과 육질에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was conducted to elucidate the characteristics of equine meat traits and to evaluate the utilization of dried-citrus pulp abundantly produced in Jeju Island as feed ingredient in the diet of finished meat horses. Treatment groups consisted of wheat bran (A) and the dried-pellet mixture of citrus pulp (20%) and wheat bran (80%) (B). Feeding of agricultural by-products were 2 times in a day at the level of 1.5% of body weights. Water and dried-grass forage was not restricted. The average daily gain was similar in both groups. Feed conversion of treatment B showed lower level than that of A. Carcass rate of B was relatively lower than that of A, but meat yield grade of B was higher than that of A. For meat color traits, $L^*$ of B was lighter than that of A, and $b^*$ of group B was lower than that of group A. From the analysis of physical characteristics of equine meats, shearing force had decreased in the treatment B but the levels of drip loss and water holding cavity had increased in the treatment B compared to A. The level of crude fat is lower in the treatment B than the treatment A. For the mineral contents, the treatment B showed higher levels of Ca, K, Mg, Cu and Mn than that of A. For the fatty acid contents, the treatment B showed increased levels of stearic acid, oleic acid, eicosenoic acid, and arachidonic acid compared to A. Consequently, these results suggested that dried-citrus pulp might be utilized as replacement material for equine forage.   • In this study, we investigated the biological activity of antioxidant and antibacterial activity of citrus by-product ferment. Among the six probiotic bacteria, Bacillus subtilis and Saccharomyces cerevisiae had the highest antioxidant activity. Hot water extracts from citrus by-product of ferment were screened for antibacterial activity fish pathogenic bacteria by paper disc method. Among the various hot water extracts, the Bacillus subtilis, Saccharomyces cerevisiae, Pediococcus pentosaceus, Lactobacillus rhamnosus, Lactobacillus plantarum, Enterococcus faecium showed relatively strong antibacterial activities in the order. The reducing activity on the 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical and $O^{2-}$ and OH radical scavenging potential were sequentially screened, in search for antioxidant activities of citrus by-product ferment.
