A Study on applied methods of Economic Depreciation in Telecommunication Network (통신망의 경제적 감가상각 적용방안)

  • The depreciation cost in the telecommunication industry plays an important role not olny in calculating a corporation tax and telecommunication charge but also ill evaluating the profitability and national welfare. This paper proposes the study on LRIC model based network costing in major foreign countries and the depreciation methods applicable to telecommunication network. The simulation result from each methods could be based on determining a network costing model and legislation in the telecommunication.

  • This article proposes a new time-based depreciation method using the accumulated depreciation rate function. The method can systematically compute the depreciation charge of each period, in every case where the charge is constant or decreasing or increasing, and solve the problems of depreciation methods currently used, by obtaining the accumulated depreciation charge at any given time. We can choose diverse rational depreciation types for the characteristic of every asset with the new method, and compute the depreciation charge with consistency in all cases where assets are owned for partial period.

  • This study performed empirical analyses of the static trade-off theory and the pecking order theory which explain financing behavior of firms. The results of regression analyses using the data of 762 listed non-financing firms on the KOSDAQ market from 2000 to 2010 have shown mixed evidences supporting either the trade-off theory or the pecking order theory. Specifically, as the effective tax rate and the firm size increases, debt ratio increases, which is consistent with the trade-off theory. However as the growth opportunity and the profitability increases, debt ratio decreases, which is consistent with the pecking order theory.

  • Intangible assets are the important tool which decides upon economic wealth and development of knowledge-information economy. We have to make effective use of intangible assets in order to assure surplus earnings, competitive superiority. The importance of intangible assets, especially patent right, may be properly understood only when their values are assessed adequately. It is very significant to appraise rationally patent right value from finance support, technology transaction, investment decision, M&A, legal proceedings, strategy and etc. Thus the purpose of this study is to evaluate the economic value of a patent right using DCF(Discounted-Cash Flow Method). This paper presents the basic model, related principles and standards of valuation, and then, case analysis of patent right valuation using DCF.

  • 봄이 시작되는 3월이다. 봄이 되면 마음이 분주해지고, 해야 할 일도 많아진다. 특히 새봄의 시작 3월에는 봄 농사철을 준비해야 하는 경칩이 있어 농사준비도 해야 하고 겨우내 하지 못했던 젖소들의 사양관리 점검 및 주변 환경을 돌아보고 새봄 맞이할 준비 시기이다. 이렇듯 새로운 마음가짐으로 경쟁력 있는 낙농가가 되기 위한 기본적인 사항부터 다시 점검하는 것이 필요하다. 가축의 생산성 향상은 가축개량을 통한 고능력우 확보로 그 기반을 닦고, 세균 및 체세포수 감소에 의한 우유 위생등급 향상, 조사료 다급 등을 통한 사양관리 기술 개발로 유지율 및 유단백을 향상한다. 또한 번식률 향상에 의한 산유량 증대와 부산물 수입 증대, 고능력 젖소의 이용연한 연장에 의한 가축감가상각비 절감에 대해 중점적으로 관심과 노력을 기울인다. 이를 위한 새봄맞이 젖소관리 방안에 대하여 기술해 보고자 한다.

Evaluation of Extraction Mode for SVE Process by On-Line Monitoring System (온라인 모니터링에 의한 디젤오염토양의 토양증기추출 공정시 추출모드 평가)

  • This study was performed to evaluate effect of extraction mode on SVE efficiency for fuel-contaminated soil. A gas station was selected for this study. As a result of pressure test in well head, soil texture of contaminated site under the gas station was very different from site to site. SVE system was operated in intermittent mode (1hr extraction / 3hr rest) or continuous mode. Capacity of air blower was $1m^3/min$. Extration mode test was conducted in two severe contaminated sites. In both two sites, cumulative TPHgas mass of intermittent extraction mode was higher than that of continuous mode. Considering long term operation of SVE in a field, in general, it was thought that intermittent extraction mode was effective in view of vaporized TPHgas mass and electrical cost.

  • This article presents detailed explanations of the depreciation method using the accumulated depreciation rate function(ADRF) proposed by the author previously, for the practical application. ADRF provides a value of accumulated depreciation rate on the total depreciation charge at any given time, therefore it can be used in a time-based depreciation method. Since the depreciation charge of each period can be systematically computed with ADRF, in every case where the charge is constant or decreasing or increasing, we can choose diverse rational depreciation types for the characteristic of every asset. Also, since the ADRF is the continuous function of time, we can compute the depreciation charge with consistency in cases where assets are owned for partial period. However, we should determine the value of parameter of ADRF. We give some data on the problem.

A Study on the Improvement of the Korean Accounting Stipulations of The Long term Care Facilities (우리나라 장기요양기관 회계처리 지침의 개정 방향)

  • The current accounting for the long term care facilities are enforced by either financial accounting stipulations of social welfare legal entity or the guiding principles of long term care insurance law. In addition, some facilities are not eligible to access to the Korea Health and Welfare information system and even don't have any obligation to report financial information. Thus financial position and performance of activities are not well known to the interested parties. This study investigated the way how to improve the current accounting stipulation of the long term care facilities. In conclusion, we should introduce the accounting standards based on the double entry system but on other aspect, also more simplified financial statement based on single entry system for smaller facilities. Also we should introduce three important appropriation accounts for the net income of institution which matches GAAP. For a successful plantation of accounting standards, it is necessary to establish provisions, government subsidy account, depreciations concept.

The Effects of Depreciation Methods on Investment Motivation for Solar Photovoltaic Systems (태양광 설비투자에 대한 제도적 유인방안 연구: 감가상각법의 경제적 효과 분석)

  • The value of tangible assets depreciates over their useful life and this depreciation should be adequately reflected in any tax or financial reports. However, the method used to calculate depreciation can impact the financial performance of solar projects due to the time value of money. Korean tax law stipulates only one method for calculating the depreciation of solar photovoltaic facilities: the straight-line method. Conversely, USA's tax law accepts other depreciation methods as solar incentives, including the modified accelerated cost recovery system (MACRS) and Bonus depreciation method. This paper compares different depreciation methods in the financial analysis of a 10 MW solar system to determine their effect on the financial results. When depreciation was calculated utilizing the MACRS and Bonus depreciation method, the internal rate of return (IRR) was 10.9% and 16.4% higher, respectively, than when the Korean straight-line depreciation method was used. Additionally, the increased IRR resulting from the use of the two US methods resulted in a 20.5% and 27.4% higher net present value, respectively. This shows that changing the depreciation calculation method can redistribute the tax amount during the project period, thereby increasing the discounted cash flow of the solar project. In addition to increasing profitability, USA's depreciation methods alleviate the uncertainty of solar projects and provide more flexibility in project financing than the Korean method. These results strongly suggest that Korean tax law could greatly benefit from adopting USA's depreciation methods as an effective incentive scheme.
