In order to test validity and reliability of the measurement, data were collected from 915 nurses, working in the 22 hospitals with more 500 beds. The data obtatined were analyzed by SPSS-Win 10.0 program using percentages, Factor Analysis, Cronbach's alpha Coefficients. Result: As a result of the study, nursing organization culture measurement scale was consisted of 20 items, 4 factors. 4 factor explained 60.54% of the total variance, and the Cronbach's alpha of this scale was .8829. Conclusions: The Study supports the validity and reliability of the scales. Therefore, this scale can be effectively utilized for the evaluation of nursing organization culture in hospital setting.

  • Purpose: This study was to develop an algorithm for emergency nursing care of dyspneic patients. Methods: This methodological study was done through reviews of medical records and literatures, checklists of emergency nursing care for dyspneic patients, interviews with nurses, and experts' validity. Results: Firstly, the initial assessment confirmed the identification of airway patency, accessory muscle usage, RR, $SpO_2$, v/s, skin color, and mental status. Immediate emergency care provided oxygen, checked ABG, EKG, and chest X-ray, established a semi-fowler position, maintained IV routes, administered medication orders, and conducted careful monitoring. Secondly, if the patient exhibited $SpO_2$ of less than 90%, the nurse considered the patient's condition to be aggravated. Thirdly, if the patient showed improvement of more than 90% $SpO_2$, the nurse administered secondary assessment and carried out specific nursing care. However, if the patient continuously showed $SpO_2$ of less than 80%, the nurse assisted the intubation and then executed ventilator therapy. Conclusions: This study suggests that the algorithm is an effective decision tool and utilizing the algorithm is expected to improve the emergency nursing care for dyspneic patients.

Method: The sample consisted of 203 nursing personnel (RN 99 and AN 104), who were working in one of 5 long-term care hospitals in 5 different areas. Data were collected by structured questionnaires from March 15 to April 30, 2010, and analyzed using the descriptive statistics, independent t-test, One-way ANOVA, and Pearson correlation coefficients with SPSS/Win 17.0 program. Result: There was no significant difference between nurses and nurse assistants in job satisfaction and self-esteem. But nurses had higher levels of nursing task performance than nurse assistants. Conclusions: These findings demonstrate the necessity of developing programs that will help to improve job satisfaction and self-esteem in nurses and nursing task performance in nurse assistants. Strategies need to be developed to maximize the value of the existing workforce without impacting on the quality of care delivered.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify nursing service costs associated with all health care costs incurred by the institution. Methods: This study was an empirical case study research in which the nursing cost was separated from total medical cost. The nursing cost index was calculated through a cost allocation method after summarizing costs for personnel, raw materials and administration of each department in one public hospital. The 2014 budget plan, published in 'Public Hospitals Alert', was used as data and the data were analyzed using the Microsoft Office EXCEL 2013 program. Results: When comparing total medical costs and nursing costs, the nursing cost were 27.14% of the total medical cost. The nursing cost per nurse per hour was calculated as \29,128 The nursing cost per inpatient per day was calculated as \157,970, and the administration cost per patient was calculated as \133,710. Conclusion: The results of the research present the process of cost allocation of specific cost elements in the hospital and evidence for administrative costs which in the past have been only vaguely formulated. These are the significant implications of this study.

  • Purpose: OSCE, Objective Structured Clinical Examination, is a good way to evaluate clinical skills of nursing students. To do this, we need modules, evaluators, persons to run the examination, as well as models and standardized patients if necessary. Author coached nursing students to develop modules and ran the examination by themselves. Method: 24 third-year and 4 first-year students volunteered; third-year students developed 5 modules, and organized and ran the examination. First-year students played patient role. 60 2nd-year students participated as examinees. Modules were duplicated to finish examination in a given time. The relationship between OSCE score, conventional clinical evaluation score and credit of students was compared. Effect of module duplication on score was tested. And responses of examinees were collected. Results: There was no correlation between OSCE and conventional clinical evaluation score (r=0.07), and credit (r=0.27), And there was no difference of OSCE score between duplicated modules $(53.77{\pm}7.61$ vs $55.33\pm7.74).$ Response of examinees to OSCE was favorable. Examinee did not expressed resistance for the evaluation by OSCE developed and ran by students. Conclusion: Nursing students successfully developed and ran OSCE, which was accepted favorably by examinees. Student-developed OSCE may play a role in evaluation of clinical performance.
