Purpose: This study examines the effects of integrating Evidence Based Practice (EBP) into a critical care clinical practicum on nursing students' access and use of information resources and EBP competency. Methods: A one-group pretest-posttest design was used. Fifty senior nursing school students from a university participated. A critical care clinical practicum combined with EBP consisted of six full days of clinical practicum in intensive care units with EBP education. Group and individual training in EBP skills, lectures, small group discussion and conferences were provided. Data were analyzed using paired t tests for 50 participants. Results: The scores of evidence based practice competency increased significantly (p<.001) showing significant improvement in searching and classifying the evidence. Nursing students' access and use of research evidence improved (p=.004). Conclusion: This study showed that the integration of EBP into a clinical practicum was effective in improving accessibility and usefulness in research evidence such as guidelines and research articles, and increasing EBP competency in undergraduate students.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explore preceptees' experience among nursing students in the Clinical Nursing Practice program as integral practice. Specific aims were to identify problems students face as preceptees at a clinical practice and how they interact with preceptors and others. Methods: Grounded theory methodology was utilized. Data were collected from interactive field notes and transcribed notes with individual in-depth interview from 12 senior nursing students who had experiences as a preceptee in the Clinical Nursing Practice. Results: Through constant comparative analysis, a core category emerged as "Being refined while taking a firm stand with lack." The process of "Being refined while taking a firm stand with lack" consisted of four phases: sailing phase, adaptation phase, achievement phase and wistful returning phase. Conclusion: The findings of the study indicate that there is a need for nursing students to understand the limitations and strengths to learning experiences in preceptorship. In addition, the Clinical Nursing Practice as an integral practice program is needed to improve nursing capacity and for proper adaptation to real clinical environment among graduating students.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the degrees of and relationships between self-leadership, stress of clinical practice and self-disclosure in a group of college female students. Methods: Data were collected from 258 participants with self-report questionnaires in August, 2011. Results: There were significant differences in the level of 'self-leadership' depending on 'interpersonal relationships', 'application motivation', 'satisfaction with nursing as a major' and 'satisfaction in clinical practice'. And also there was significant difference in the level of 'self-disclosure' depending on 'interpersonal relationships'. But there was no significant difference in the level of 'stress of clinical practice' depending on general characteristics of participants. There were significant correlations between 'self-leadership' and self-disclosure, 'stress of clinical practice' and 'self-disclosure'. Conclusion: The results of this study suggest that it is needed to develop diverse programs that can reduce the stress of clinical practice by strengthening the capacity of self-leadership and self-disclosure.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate factors which influence the process of problem solving in nursing students during clinical practice. Method: Data were collected by questionnaires from 511 nursing students in from April 10 to June 10, 2011. Data were analyzed by Pearson's correlation coefficients and multiple regression procedures. Result: The values regarding self-leadership (mean 3.62), self-directed learning readiness (mean 3.53) and problem solving process (mean 3.37) were higher than the median. There were significant correlations between all the predictive variables and the process of problem solving. The greatest factors influencing the process of problem solving in nursing students were self-leadership and self-directed learning readiness (54.3%). Conclusion: By using the results of this study as a foundation, nursing education curriculum should be comprised of self-leadership and self-directed learning readiness for improvement of nursing students' problem solving process.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship among stress, depression, coping styles and satisfaction of clinical practice in nursing students. Method: Two hundred fifty-eight nursing college students in 1 city were selected by convenient sample. A questionnaire measured the level of stress, depression, coping styles and satisfaction of clinical practice. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, and Pearson's correlation coefficient. Result: The mean score of stress was 2.82 (${\pm}.39$), depression was 19.23 (${\pm}7.70$), coping styles was 2.42 (${\pm}.42$), and satisfaction of clinical practice was 2.81 (${\pm}.41$). There were significant differences on four variables according to the satisfaction of a nursing major. Stress had a significant positive correlation with depression, and a negative correlation with problem focused coping and satisfaction of clinical practice. Depression had a significant negative correlation with satisfaction of clinical practice. Emotional focused coping had a significant positive correlation with depression, and problem focused coping had a significant negative correlation with depression. Conclusion: From the studies reviewed, one can expect a positive effect on decreasing stress and depression among nursing students when the nursing educators use counseling and instruction for clinical practice.

Purpose: This study aimed to investigate student nurses' satisfaction by type of clinical practicum and to determine predictors of clinical competence in pediatric nursing. Methods: A total of 189 Junior and Senior student nurses across seven colleges in the Busan Metropolitan City were enrolled in the study. The participants completed a structured questionnaire containing items about their learning satisfaction with different types of pediatric nursing practicums and their clinical competence. Data were analyzed using the mean, standard deviation, independent t-test, ANOVA, and multiple regression analysis. Results: Regarding satisfaction with each type of clinical practicum, the mean satisfaction score (out of 10) was 8.18±2.26 for on-site clinical rotations and 7.35±2.20 for alternative practicums. Among the different types of alternative practicum approaches, those with a satisfaction score of 7 or higher included fundamental nursing skills, watching videos, simulation etc., while those with a satisfaction score of less than 6 were virtual simulation and problem-based learning. The predictors of clinical competence in pediatric nursing were learning satisfaction with practice, school year, and alternative practicum, accounting for 35.0% of the variance in clinical competency. Conclusion: It would be helpful to combine on-site clinical rotations with alternative practicum approaches and to develop various alternative practice programs using simulation practice, virtual reality, immersive interactive systems, and standardized patients to enhance students' clinical competency.
The purpose of this study is to verify the effects of Simulation-based Chest Tube Drainage Management Nursing Education on the Nursing Students' Response to Scenario Experiences, Confidence in Learning, and Problem Solving Abilities. This study was performed with a one-group pretest-posttest design, and a total of 133 junior nursing students have participated in the research (31 teams of simulation-based education). According to the results of the study, most of the students have shown a positive response to the scenario experience after the simulation training, while their confidence in learning and problem-solving skills have improved significantly. This proves that simulation-based training using simulators can be very effective in practical nursing training. It is expected that this research could make a meaningful contribution to improving the overall quality of field-oriented practical training and clinical practice.

Purpose: Clinical practicums via non-face-to-face methods were inevitable due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We developed an online program for emergency nursing care and identified the feasibility of the program and the learning achievements of students. Methods: This was a methodological study. The program was developed by three professors who taught theory and clinical practicum for adult nursing care and clinical experts. Students received four hours of video content and two task activities every week in four-week program. Real-time interactive video conferences were included. Qualitative and qualitative data were collected. Results: A total of 96 students participated in the program. The mean score for overall satisfaction with the online program was 4.72(±1.02) out of 6. Subjects that generally had high learning achievement scores were basic life support care, fall prevention, nursing documentation, infection control, and anaphylaxis care. As a result of a content analysis of 77 reflective logs on the advantages of this program, students reported that "experience in applying nursing process," "case-based learning and teaching method," and "No time and space constraints" were the program's best features. Conclusion: Collaboration between hospitals and universities for nursing is more important than ever to develop online content for effective clinical practicum.
