  • This study aimed to identify the effect of occupational calling, compliance with standard precautions and perceived threat for COVID-19 on the COVID-19 burnout of hospital nurses in the convergence society. The participants were 212 nurses; data were analyzed using t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation, multiple regression. This study found that: hospital nurses showed higher score for perceived threat of COVID-19, higher scores for COVID-19 burnout. The main factors influencing COVID-19 burnout were perceived threat of COVID-19 (𝛽=.233), and working unit (𝛽=.154). They explained about 6.7% of the COVID-19 burnout. Therefore, systematic support and nursing education is needed to reduce the perceived threat of COVID-19 among nurses.

  • This research was conducted to help establish positive and professional nursing intuition by confirming the degree of self-directed learning ability, emotional intelligence, grit, and nursing intuition perceived by nursing students in the post-corona era. The subject of this research were nursing students located in G Metropolitan City. A descriptive survey was conducted from February 22 to March 28, 2021 as a self-report questionnaire. The collected data was analyzed using the SPSS/WIN 21.0 program. The analysis showed that higher major satisfaction, emotional intelligence, and grit indicated more positive and professional nursing intuition. Factors affecting nursing professional intuition were emotional intelligence and major satisfaction, and the explanatory power was 61.7%. Based on the results of this research, curriculum activities and strategies of comparison and activities are required to increase the emotional intelligence and major satisfaction of nursing college students. These strategies are also expected to help nursing students establish positive nursing professional intuition.

  • Purpose: This study was done to verify the self-directed learning instrument (SDLI) developed to measure self-directed learning ability in nursing students. Methods: The participants for the study were 425 nursing college students. Their self-directed learning was verified using self-reports and results through questionnaires. SDLI was translated into Korean through translation/reverse translation process and its content validity verified by five experts. The validity of the instrument was verified through item analysis, exploratory factor analysis, and confirmatory factor analysis. Reliability verification was analyzed using internal consistency reliability. Results: Four factors were identified through exploratory factor analysis and 20 items of the original instrument were found to be valid. In the confirmatory factor analysis, the validity of the instrument was verified as the model was valid. The internal consistency reliability was also acceptable and SDLI was found to be an applicable instrument. Conclusion: SDLI has been developed and verified by selecting nursing students as participants for the study. Use if SDLI is expected to improve the quality of self-directed learning in nursing education and to be used in future nursing research.

  • Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the research trends concerning job satisfaction among hospital nurses. Methods: Articles published between 2008 to 2018 were searched. In the first search, 10,859 articles were extracted from academic databases, and 168 were included. Results: A total of 36 variables were explored regarding job satisfaction. Among the major variables, organizational commitmentandculture and justice had positive correlations withjobsatisfaction. In contrast, burnout, negative affectivity, and turnover intention had negative correlations with it. In the meta-analysis, according to the conceptual framework, salary and promotions showed significant positive correlations with job satisfaction. In contrast, professionaldevelopment showed a significantly negative correlation with it. Conclusion: Strategies to improve the variables corresponding to motivation factors are required to improve job satisfaction among hospital nurses. Furthermore, efforts to improve the nursing work environment corresponding to hygiene factors are also required for efficiency and rational management at the hospital level.

  • Purpose: This study was aimed at investigating the incidence and risk factors of dyslipidemia in menopausal women using a Korean community-based longitudinal study. Methods: The subjects were 245 postmenopausal women without dyslipidemia who had participated in the Ansan-Ansung cohort study from 2001~2002 (baseline) to 2015~2016 (seventh follow-up visit). The dyslipidemia incidence was measured as incidence proportion (%) and incidence rate per 100 person-years. The predictors of developing dyslipidemia were analyzed with Cox's proportional hazard model. Results: The incidence of new dyslipidemia during the follow-up period was 78.4% (192 patients), and 11.9 per 100 person-years. Mean duration from menopause to developing dyslipidemia was 5.3 years in new dyslipidemia cases. The triglyceride/high density lipoprotein (TG/HDL-C) ratio at baseline (hazard ratio = 2.20; 95% confidence interval = 1.39~3.48) was independently associated with developing dyslipidemia. Conclusion: Dyslipidemia occurs frequently in postmenopausal women, principally within five years after menopause. Therefore, steps must be taken to prevent dyslipidemia immediately after menopause, particularly in women with a high TG/HDL-C ratio at the start of menopause.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop a scale to measure professionalism of clinical nurses and evaluate the reliability and validity of the scale. Methods: DeVellis's scale-development eight steps were applied. The initial items were developed through a literature review and discussion with investigators, and the content validity was verified by seven experts. The data were collected from 250 hospital nurses for exploratory factor analysis and 217 hospital nurses for confirmatory factor analysis. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses were utilized to assess the construct validity. Cronbach's ⍺ was used to test the internal consistency reliability. Results: The results of the exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses showed that the scale comprised four factors: professional skill(eight items), sense of ethics (five items), knowledge-seeking activities (four items), and autonomy(three items). The four-factor structure was validated (x 2 =600.85 p<.001, GFI=.88, CFI=.84, RMSEA=.07), and Cronbach's ⍺ for the total scale was .84. Conclusion: The study results showed satisfactory reliability and validity of the professionalism measurement scale for clinical nurses. This scale has potential as an appropriate instrument for measuring clinical nurse professionalism.

  • Purpose: This study aimed to present Blue Ocean strategies by deriving the strategic elements of a visiting nursing center and conducting a survey on the importance and satisfaction of care clients. Methods: First, a FGI was conducted targeting the head of the visiting nursing center to derive its strategic elements. Subsequently, importance and satisfaction surveys on the derived strategy elements were analyzed, an IPA matrix was derived, and an as-is ERRC Blue Ocean strategy was established. Kano's Three-Factor Theory was used to derive a competitive position matrix and establish a to-be ERRC Blue Ocean strategy. The Blue Ocean Strategy for Visiting Nursing Center Management is presented in this study. Results: Four as raise factors were derived from combining the results of the as-is, to-be ERRC strategy element analysis: retention of competent nurses, education in medication management, maintenance of high customer satisfaction, and prompt handling of customer complaints. Additionally, the customer's health condition evaluation was derived. Conclusion: Blue Ocean Strategies can be used to analyze, derive, and establish management strategies in various nursing-related entrepreneurship fields.

  • Purpose: This study aimed to clarify the concept of uncertainty in brain tumor patients. Methods: We used the Walker and Avant's concept analysis method. We searched RISS, MEDLINE, CINAHL, and EMBASE for published articles in Korean and English from January 2002 to December 2022. After applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 27 articles were selected for the final analysis. Result: "Uncertainty in brain tumor" was defined as a state in which related clues during the process of experiencing a disease after brain tumor diagnosis are unclear or difficult to understand, new experiences different from before, or a condition in which it is difficult to judge fragmentarily. Moreover, the empirical criteria for the attributes of uncertainty in brain tumor patients were ambiguity of the disease process, diversity of information, unpredictability of prognosis, and complexity of management. Conclusion: Brain tumor patients with uncertainty require strategic technology development so that brain tumor patients, their families, and health care providers can use reasonable coping methods.
