  • This study is tried to confirm the effect of practical education environment and practical stress perceived by nursing college students who have experienced clinical practice on department adaptation. The subjects of the study were 154 nursing students who experienced clinical practice at nursing universities in Area C. As a result of the study, there was a positive correlation between the practical education environment perceived by nursing students and department adaptation (r=.43, p=.001), a negative correlation between practical stress and department adaptation (r=-.15, p=.012). The practical education environment and practical stress were identified as factors influencing nursing students' adaptation to the department. Therefore, in order to positively improve the practical education environment, it is necessary to continuously train related factors that can help adapt to field practice and prepare measures to improve the practical education environment through close cooperation with practice institutions.

Seventeen students were enrolled in a K-city university as a third-year student who first performed core basic nursing skills. As a result of the study, it was derived into 3 categories and 19 thematic collections. The three categories included 1. meaning of help, 2. overcoming fear, and 3. opportunity to acquire nursing skills. The conclusion was that the first core basic nursing skills before clinical practice was a time to learn the true meaning of nursing through mutual help The difficulties were overcome with repeated practice, and the acquisition of newly learned nursing skills appeared as an effective process to experience with confidence. Therefore, it can be used as a useful basic data for counseling and guidance on the adaptation of nursing students to clinical practice, and it is expected that it will be used as a useful data for successful practice application counseling.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the level of perceived readiness for interprofessional learning and its differences between nursing and other health-related students. Methods: A web-based survey was conducted from April 25 to June 30, 2017 in one university in Korea. A total of 325 undergraduate nursing students and other health-related disciplines completed the structured questionnaire consisting of Readiness for Interprofessional Learning Scale and general characteristics. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, and multiple linear regression. Results: The scores of readiness for interprofessional learning in nursing students were significantly higher than those in other health-related students (t=3.50, p=.001). Nursing students had higher collaboration, professional identity, and roles and responsibilities than other health-related students. The class experiences with other major students was a significant factor related to the readiness for interprofessional learning both in nursing (p=.001) and other health-related students (p=.001). Conclusion: The findings suggest that nursing educators consider the different level of readiness for interprofessional learning between nursing and other health-related students while integrating interprofessional education into nursing education curricula.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the mediating effects of career maturity on the relation between carrier barriers and senior nursing students's jobs seeking stress. Data analysis was conducted over 208 senior nursing students from three nursing schools in G city and J province. The research methods examined the influence of variables on dependent variable, with difference of carrier maturity. As a result, career barriers had a negative correlation with career maturity but had a positive correlation with jobs seeking stress. Also, career barriers had significant effects on jobs seeking stress(35%, F=109.89, p<.001), mediating effect of career maturity was significant(z=12.24, p<.001). Accordingly, the results indicated that career maturity could buffer the risk of jobs seeking stress of senior nursing student from career barriers. In conclusion, systematic measures are needed to lower career barriers and improve career maturity in order to reduce jobs seeking stress of senior nursing students. It is necessary to develop a strategy to develop career guidance information system that, is specialized in nursing course as well as counselling that utilizes individual ability development, self-esteem management and friend's system.

  • The purpose was to compare the ethical knowledge, values and class satisfaction by students' cognitive style to develop the convergent nursing ethic class considering cognitive style. Questionnaires were collected from 149 freshmen after 12 hours classes for four weeks from October 1st to 30th 2013. Group Embedded Figure Test was used as a cognitive style measurement tool. 62.4% of them were field-dependent. There was a significant difference in cognitive style and ethical knowledge according to high school division. The ethical value was different significantly according to the nursing science satisfaction. Class satisfaction was different significantly according to reason for applying to nursing and nursing science satisfaction. There were no significant differences in ethical knowledge and values by cognitive style. Class satisfaction was higher in field-dependent students. This conclusion will give baseline data to develop nursing education program based on cognitive style.

The followings are the results; There was a significant difference in the intention to stay of the 48 new nurses and 48 reemployment nurses (t = -2.10, p = .038), but there was no significant difference in field adaptation between the two groups (t = -1.48, p = .142 ). Finally, the subjects responded with the topics they would most like to learn about emergency patient care. Through the above results, this study provide basic data for developing a program that can enhance the intention to stay in hospital.

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the effects experienced by cancer survivors through the forest therapy, and to provide evidence for applying the forest therapy program. Nineteen cancer survivors who participated in the forest therapy program hosted by K University were targeted, and qualitative data were collected through three focus group interviews. All interviews were recorded and transcribed and analyzed by subject-specific content analysis method. According to the research results, the attributes of forest therapy experienced by cancer survivors were 'Escape from bondage', 'Time to empty and fill the mind', 'Healing from positive forest stimulation', 'Self met in a space of rest', 'Initiative for life'. Five themes and fifteen sub-themes of 'recovery' were derived. These research results revealed a healing experience of feeling comfortable and physically relaxed through communication with the forest, discovering the self, and regaining initiative in life. It can be seen that the forest therapy is helpful in overcoming the physical, emotional, and psycho-social discomforts of cancer survivors.

  • Purpose: This study aims to identify the degree of anxiety and depression related to infection control and job stress in clinical nurses during the COVID-19 pandemic. Furthermore, it seeks to identify the effects of depression. Finally, it intends to develop intervention measures to prevent depression in clinical nurses during epidemics of new infectious diseases and prepare basic data for developing educational programs. Methods: Data were collected using a self-report questionnaire survey administered to 208 nurses. The data were analyzed using the IBM SPSS (Version 26.0) statistics program. Results: The correlation analysis between participant depression, anxiety, and infection control job stress found that depression had a positive correlation with anxiety (r=.63, p<.001) and infection control work stress (r=.26, p<.001). Anxiety (β=0.60, p<.001) was found to significantly affect participant depression with an explanatory power of 40.2%, confirming that higher anxiety levels induce increased depression. Conclusion: Based on the above results, anxiety is confirmed to be a factor that affects depression. Accordingly, education is required to strengthen individuals' physical and mental capabilities and promote a safe working environment, including providing sufficient personal protective devices and other appropriate gear to defend clinical nurses against outbreaks of emerging infectious diseases at medical institutions and through healthcare policies. Other considerations should include sufficient rest hours and paying additional benefits for nurses caring for patients with severe confirmed COVID-19.
