  • Purpose: This study aimed to explore the social perception of visiting nursing before and after coronavirus disease (COVID-19). Methods: This survey-based study used online big data for comparative analysis by classifying the keywords related to visiting nursing searched on domestic portal sites before and after COVID-19. Results: According to the results of analyzing the Intertopic Distance Map based on Latent Dirichlet Allocation in this study, four topics were extracted, two each before and after COVID-19. The first topic before the COVID-19 period was termed "the expansion of visiting nursing subjects and services visiting nursing," while the second was termed "visiting nursing," which is related to customized welfare. The first topic after the COVID-19 period was termed "the suspension and resumption of visiting nursing services," while the second was "the development of a non-face-to-face home visit healthcare system". Conclusion: The results of this study can be used as useful reference data to contribute to future medical service delivery system reform policies starting at the end of COVID-19 and the revitalization of community care for visiting nursing.

  • This study was performed to investigate the effects of creative teaching technique(CTT) on critical thinking disposition(CTD), problem solving process(PSP), and self-leadership(SL) in 5 majors of first to third grades in a college nursing department. CTT was developed to promote memory and practical ability. The study was conducted from August 1 to December 31 in 2017, and the survey was performed before and after applying the CTT. As a result, there was no difference in CTD, PSP, and SL in the first graders whom applied various teaching techniques to one subject. But CTD was 6.8point(p<0.001), PSP was 7.5~7.9point(p<0.001) and SL was 2.9~3.3point(p<0.001) improved in the second and third grades whom applied similar teaching techniques in two subjects. In order to improve the students' core competency, it is more effective for students to apply one or two methods repeatedly in several subjects than to apply various methods to one subject. Since the CTT was more effective in the group that selected the major depending on aptitude and interest, it is necessary to develop various teaching and learning strategies to enhance the interest in nursing major.

  • This study is a descriptive research study to figure out the effect of unstable an adult attachment, self-mercy and emotional recognition clarity on interpersonal skills targeting nursing freshman. From 27th of March 2023 to 7th of April 2023, data gathered from the nursing freshman of university in J city, G province were analyzed. Using IBM SPSS/25, the data was analyzed descriptive statistic t-test, ANOVA and multiple correlation analysis. Interpersonal skills have negative correlation with unstable adults attachment(r=-.19, p=.005), and also have positive correlation with self-mercy (r=.38, p<.001) and emotional recognition clarity (r=.28, p<.001). Using hierarchical multiple regression analysis of factors that effects on interpersonal skills of survey subjects, self-mercy was the factor predict one's interpersonal skills the most, extroverted, mixed and emotional recognition clarity in order. The higher self- mercy and emotional recognition clarity are, the bigger influences interpersonal skills have and 24.5% of explanatory power. For nursing school students, interpersonal skills was one of the essential qualities so various methods to improve their interpersonal skills should be figured out.

  • Purpose: The COVID-19 pandemic has increased the importance of nurses' clinical performance, and accordingly, nursing educators have emphasized students' clinical practice and performance. This study developed a Clinical Practice Self-Efficacy Scale for nursing students and examined its psychometric properties. Methods: The authors reviewed instruments for selecting items for the scale in the areas of clinical skills, communication, infection control, safety, and nursing process. After preliminary items were selected, ten experts consisting of nursing professors and clinical nurses reviewed the items considering Korean clinical and educational situations. The data for the psychometric evaluation was collected from 257 nursing students in their 2nd, 3rd, and 4th years and then analyzed. Results: The confirmatory factor analysis showed that the goodness of fit of this scale with five factors represented by 40 items was appropriate. The significant positive correlations with general self-efficacy indicated sound construct validity. The senior nursing students showed higher scores than others, as we expected. Cronbach's alpha was .94. Conclusion: The Clinical Practice Self-Efficacy Scale is appropriate for measuring Korean nursing students' self-efficacy of clinical practice. It is expected to act as a good tool to measure the effects of clinical practice education.

  • Purpose : Developing infection control capabilities during the COVID-19 pandemic was critical. This study aimed to develop a simulation program to control patients with COVID-19 in nursing students and examine the effects on COVID-19 knowledge, COVID-19 nursing intention, self-efficacy learning, and clinical performance. Methods : The study used nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design. Sixty nursing students were recruited from two different colleges using purposive sampling. For the intervention group(n=30), the pretest was administered before the simulation program, involving six sessions of online lectures and simulation practices. Immediately, the posttest was conducted following the program. Results : COVID-19 knowledge (t=9.87, p <.001), COVID-19 nursing intention (t=4.45, p <.001), learning self-efficacy (t=6.49, p <.001), and clinical performance (t=6.77, p <.001) increased significantly after the program, revealing the positive effect of the COVID-19 infection control simulation program in nursing students. Conclusion : The results of the study and the curriculum may be used as practical evidence for COVID-19 infection control in nursing schools and medical institutions.

The study participants included 113 nursing students (56 in the experimental group and 57 in the control group) from Ansan City. Data collection was conducted from June 1 through 23. Data were analyzed using χ2-test, Fisher's exact test, and t-test using SPSS 23.0 program. Results: The experimental group had a significant increase in learning presence, technology acceptance, and knowledge before and after the intervention compared to the control group. Conclusion: Virtual reality based anatomy education is an effective learner-centered educational program. From an educational perspective, VR anatomy education programs can improve anatomy knowledge by increasing students' acceptance of VR technology and increase their motivation to learn by increasing their sense of presence.

  • Purpose: The aim of this study was to analyze the current status of end-of-life (EoL) care education of the undergraduate nursing curriculum and senior students' EoL care experience and competency. Methods: A survey was conducted with 41 nursing schools and 622 senior nursing students on June 2018. The questionnaire consisted of 38 items on teaching regarding EoL care and 17 items on EoL care competencies based on the suggestions made by the American Nurses Association. Results: Only 20% among 41 nursing schools opened an EoL care course as an elective, and the course was taken by 5.1% students. Of 622 students, 70.7% witnessed death of patients during their clinical training, but 74.8% received no or little education on EoL care from their clinical training instructors. Two of 38 education contents on EoL care were taught in class for over 80% of the students. All students scored below 3 points (2.31±0.66) for all 17 competencies, which means that they cannot perform EoL care. Conclusion: This study showed that there was a serious deficiency in undergraduate nursing education on EoL care. Accordingly, most nursing students who would graduate soon considered themselves incapable of performing EoL care. Nurses experience death and dying as a part of their practice and should be prepared to provide adequate EoL care. Therefore, it is urgent to improve EoL care training in the undergraduate nursing education.

  • This study is tried to confirm the effect of practical education environment and practical stress perceived by nursing college students who have experienced clinical practice on department adaptation. The subjects of the study were 154 nursing students who experienced clinical practice at nursing universities in Area C. As a result of the study, there was a positive correlation between the practical education environment perceived by nursing students and department adaptation (r=.43, p=.001), a negative correlation between practical stress and department adaptation (r=-.15, p=.012). The practical education environment and practical stress were identified as factors influencing nursing students' adaptation to the department. Therefore, in order to positively improve the practical education environment, it is necessary to continuously train related factors that can help adapt to field practice and prepare measures to improve the practical education environment through close cooperation with practice institutions.
