  • Augmented reality systems are widely used in the fields of entertainment, shopping, education, and training, and the augmented reality technology is gradually increasing in importance. When augmented reality technology is used for education or training, it must be possible to represent different virtual objects depending on the work stage even for the same marker. Also, since the training content varies depending on the situation, it is necessary to describe it using a training scenario. In order to solve this problem, we propose a scenario markup language for an augmented reality system that can create training content based on a scenario and connect it with an augmented reality system. The scenario markup language for augmented reality provides functions such as a method for connecting a scene, a marker and a virtual object, a method for grasping the state of equipment or sensor value, and a method for moving a scene according to conditions. The augmented reality scenario markup language can flexibly increase the usefulness and expandability of the augmented reality system usage method and content usage.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between social participation activities, cognitive function, and depression of middle and old single-person households in consideration of social problems such as aging population and increasing single-person households. For the analysis, path analysis and multi-group analysis were conducted. As a result of the analysis, it was found that social participation activities of middle and old single-person households reduced depression through increased cognitive function, and the positive effects of social participation activities were stronger in groups of dementia. Based on these results, we discussed ways to promote social participation activities, implications for developing programs that can help cognitive function or mental health, and suggested the need for programs or treatment methods to promote social participation rather than isolated treatment in nursing facilities.

  • This study examined the relationships among patient safety competence, critical thinking disposition, problem-solving competence, and self-efficacy of clinical nurses to identify the factors influencing the patient safety competence. A convenience sample of 373 nurses working in 4 general hospitals in a Metropolitan area in Korea was selected. After obtaining IRB approval, data collection was done with a structured self-administered questionnaire from October 14th to November 4th, 2014. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient and multiple regression analysis using the SPSS WIN 21.0 program. The participants showed a moderate level of patient safety competence ($3.75{\pm}0.37$), of critical thinking disposition ($3.43{\pm}0.27$), of problem solving competence ($3.54{\pm}0.30$), and of self-efficacy ($3.58{\pm}0.47$). The patient safety competence of the participants showed a significant correlation with the critical thinking disposition (r=.493, p<.001), problem solving competence (r=.616, p<.001), and self-efficacy (r=.475, p<.001). The significant factors influencing the patient safety competence were problem solving competence (${\beta}=.403$, p<.001), self-efficacy (${\beta}=.156$, p=.005), critical thinking disposition (${\beta}=.130$, p=.018), and having the experience of reporting patient safety accidents (${\beta}=.137$, p=.002). The results suggest that educational programs to enhance the critical thinking disposition, problem-solving competence, and self-efficacy would develop the patient safety competence of clinical nurses. In addition, more effort should be placed into reinforcing the patient safety competence by activating the report of patient safety accidents.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine nursing students' satisfaction level with PBL-based clinical practice, their autonomy, achievement motivation and what affected them in those regards in an attempt to lay the groundwork for providing more systematic and efficient clinical practice, Method: The subjects III this study were 138 nursing sophomores at J college who participated in PBL-based clinical practice, Results: They got a mean of 3.34, 3.83 and 3.83 in satisfaction level with the clinical practice, autonomy and achievement motivation respectively. In regard to the relationship of the satisfaction level to general characteristics including motivation of choosing the major and time for undergoing the clinical practice, the students who decided to major in nursing at their own option(3.61) were most contented with practice teaching(F=6.356, p<.01), and those who underwent the clinical practice after taking lessons(3.82) were most pleased with the content of the clinical practice (t=2.129, p<.05). Concerning connections between autonomy and general characteristics involving age, satisfaction with the major and time for the clinical practice, the students who were at the age of 22(3.92) valued themselves the most(F=3.003, P<.05). And those who found their major satisfactory (4.28) and undergo the clinical practice after taking lessons(4.37) respected others the most(F=3.133, p<.01). As to relations between achievement motivation and general characteristics, the students who were contented with their major(4.00) excelled the others who weren't in that aspect(F=6.038, p<.01). The satisfaction level with the clinical practice was positively correlated to autonomy (r=.328, p<.01) and achievement motivation(r=.476, p<.01). Conclusions: The findings illustrated that the nursing students expressed the satisfaction with the PBL-based clinical practice education. The older students who were 22 years old were more autonomous, and those who took part in the clinical practice after receiving theoretical instruction were more autonomous and more pleased with the practice. The students who found their major more satisfactory surpassed the others in autonomy and achievement motivation. There was positive correlation among the clinical-practice satisfaction level, autonomy and achievement motivation. There are some suggestions: Intensive research efforts should be directed into getting a profound grasp of PBL-based clinical practice education geared toward nursing students. The development of modules for PBL-based nursing clinical practice education was required. How to provide PBL-based theoretical education to nursing students should be studied.
